Gary,
Wow, how your palate has changed! Now you can’t get enough of the green/vegetable wines (#2). After watching a lot of your more recent episodes and seeing this one where you discuss ratings, how do you choose which rating to use? You always reference one source. Obviously a wine that Parker has rated has also likely been rated by Spectator or Enthusiast, so which one do you choose? The highest? The most respectable in your eyes? Just wondering. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see you evolve and get more animated like the Gary V I know.

good episode. I noticed you didn’t mention price- would be interesting to have an episode of “guess the price based on taste.”

first mention of cinnamon toast crunch? nope, that was in episode 9.

why are most top scores 92-93? what happened to 94-100?

I have never had a scored wine, gary, and am doing just fine with my palate!

Your comment about trusting your own palate is totally right on. I’ve found that many wines can taste very different to different people. It is nice, however, to get an opinion from somebody that is more knowledgeable about wine so that you have a starting point, or at least a point of reference when tasting them yourself.

This is what makes corkd.com so much fun…you do the rating. There is still a lot to be said for trusting the experts, but even Pennington has his off days. (Go Hasselbeck (Matthew, that is)!)
