Favorite GV soundbite so far, “This wine smells exactly like a cigar, but obviously a cigar smells different.” Fun, fun. Thanks for the scratch and sniff lesson though. Seriously. I am all about tasting with my nose.

I know nothing about Rioja….I had a 1995 one a while back and was really underwhelmed. It was light, without any of that earthy goodness. I have got to get out there. Any producers you recommend that are again widely available?

I saw this wine at my local discount wine outlet for $104.00. As always the Wine library has extraordinary value and great wines.

Hey Gary, NEED RATING for 2001 REMIREZ DE GANUZA for SS

Hope you had a great Holiday. I saw that this wine was on “free.Winelibrary.com”, clicked on the wine and saw that this wine was on a WLTV episode…one of the back episodes.

Anyway, I just watched it (and will be ordering some). This wine is RP-94 and ST-95….you seemed to agree, but didn’t actually state your rating…what would you rate this so I can enter it into SS.

If it helps, here’s you tasting notes:

COLOR-pitch black; NOSE-by far the most interesting Spanish nose, tobacco, cigar; TASTE-very complex, truffles, black currant, finish is very dry, but complex, blackberry, blueberry, nice long finish; this is GREAT wine, purity & complexity, reminds me of top notch Bordeaux from Right Bank, pure silk, AMAZING wine, worth at least $100; ST-95+, RP-94, GV-
