Wow I think this is the first time you mention the jets in WLTV! This is a landmark episode.

  • Gary, you look good in green! A little crazy, maybe, but you’re right, you’ve got to be passionate about something besides wine.

Fortunately, I’m not a football fan, because I’d hate to have to disagree with you. Let’s just not talk baseball, because if you’re a baseball fan, we’ll almost certainly disagree, particularly if you’re a fan of the boys from the Bronx.

The wine sounds awesome. I’ll add it to my list of wines I want to buy. Speaking of which, you should add a wish list feature to the WL website, so that I can keep track of all the wines I’d like to try, but don’t want to pop for right away. That would be a great feature, particularly if we could store notes with our personal wish lists, so if I come back to the list in two months I can remember what made me add the wine to my wish list in the first place.

Gary, another great episode. When you mentioned this wine something kind of sparked in my mind. One of my dear friends had the opportunity to visit El Bulli and meet Ferran Adrià! She brought me a menu sample and wine list (HUGE) and as I remembered, I saw this wine. To compare the price you are offering to the restaurant’s is pointless but you seem to have a great deal going.
As for the Jets…we’ll see how things shape up come August/September. Isn’t that a wonderful 2 months? Top French wines are being delivered and football starts. Can’t beat it!

Any idea what comprises the other 10% of this wine? 8) The listed grapes add up to 90%.

  • Steve sorry about that it was 30% cab sauv not 20, so 60% Syrah,30% Cabernet and 10% Merlot!

I don’t know that I have ever been so convinced that I need something so badly. I ordered 2 bottles right away. If this is half as good as you say, it should be out of sight. Thanks for the tip.

Smart pick? Even if Ferguson is a Jonathan Ogden/Tony Boselli-type player, is a lineman worth a top 3 pick? I hope for the Jets sake Leinart doesn’t become a franchise quarterback, and they have the makings of the next Anthony Munoz.

Oh yeah, and Cigarral Pago Del Ama sounds pretty good.

  • Whats up with Furgeson…three games in and all DNPs? That sucks for a 4th pick OT!

I need to start picking these up quicker as I am pissed it’s sold out!

I have to agree with Tony….a wish list would be a great feature. I have about $2000 worth of wine sitting in my cart right now!

As for Ferguson…he and Mangold both seem to be working out pretty well. Lienart would have been nice to have, but what can you do without an offensive line? And everybody keeps poo pooing Pennington (like they do with wine scores), but yet there he is still, outperforming expectations.

I wish I caught this, and many more episodes before the recommended wine was sold out. What can I say, except:

    J E T S JETS! JETS! JETS!

  • Hey Gary,

Catching up on the vids and had to comment on this on as you hit on a few things I have to agree with you on.

First, Ferguson. I totally agree with that pick being extremely smart. I was really surprised to see NO take bush and pass on him when they already had a running back. Bush was good but they still fell short. Not the my Steelers or your Jets did any better though.

Second, being passionate. There are people in the industry here in Colorado that find it amusing that I manage a store that has has a fine wine selection, love wine and go to the bar on Sunday and sit with a bunch of Steeler fans in the middle of Bronco country, drink some substandard Rolling Rock beer and get crazy about football. Passion is life not matter what you are passionate about – and that’s why everbody loves your vblog and believes in you. Keep up the good work!

Lastly, other Spanish reds. I haven’t tasted the Cigarral Pago Del Ama 2001, but your notes on the wine remind of another superstar you should try … Finca Sandoval, always a great buy and great alternative to buying a great Hermitage or Cote Rotie, and at what I would consider a much more affordable price.

PS next season when the Jets and Steelers play, your boys are going down, it can’t be helped.

How did you get that wine in if there are only two restaurants that sell it?
Have you been to Il Buli?

I hope this doesn’t get too far into football. I’m not much of a football fan unless it futbol. At least you have other interests other than just wine.

May looks to be a short month but this was a good episode – wish the wine was still around!

Gary it’s awesome to see you that passionate about the Jets. (I’m not a NFL fan, but I do enjoy college hoops and college football)

I had the pleasure to visit the vinard last week with a tour by javier and got to taste his Merlot which in my opinon is one of the best wines you can get.

If you are ever in Toledo (about 50 minutes from madrid) it is well worth to see if you can take a tour, it is amazing what they do there.

Wow, thanks again Gary. I love Spanish wines, but don’t know as much about them as I’d like. Love when you turn us on to something great, that’s not very well known. Can’t wait to look for that one. I’d be curious to see what vin jaunes you’d recommend, it would be awesome to see you do a tasting on those.

Turns out the Brick was a good pick since Leinart had been a flop! Love big Spainish wines, this sould like a good one like a Torre Muga or El Puntido. http://www.winelx.com
