Wow, what an impressive list of wineries Phillipe has been a part of. Great guest, and seems to be a great, humble guy. Looking forward to trying his own wines.
While I’m commenting, I would love to see you do an episode on charbono or vin jaune’s.

It’s good to see that you took advantage of your time with him to record an episode on his own label. I’ve actually never had his wine before, and I’m trying to figure out how I’ve not known about it other than that I haven’t had many mentors that have been able to really open me up to the greater world of wine. Melka is really fantastic. He seduces a roundness on the palette that seems to be a signature of all of his wines. Have you tried the Seavey? That, to me, is probably the most underrated project in his portfolio . . . which is great for me!

Same question as Julius:

If you follow a wine maker how can you tell which wines are gonna be better than the others? Obviously “Style” is gonna be the same. Or is it? Maybe Phillippe experiments with his own, but follows the letter on others. It’s an interesting point that I would love to have answered by a wine maker!

Great show, Gary. I watched the previous episode yesterday and was all set to send a comment today to say “What about some of the other GREAT wines from Philippe, including his own label?” Well, based on todays episode, you must have read my mind.
I’m curious about one thing. With all the wines that are in Philippe’s portfolio, (and some have commented that he might be spread to thin) how does he find the time to surf?
