   I *loved* the commercial. That must’ve been fun to film!

   QOTD: 2006 Blason de Bourgogne Rouge from Trader Joes. And yuck. I just commented on the last ep, but even after decanting for a couple of hours, this wine was only serviceable with food…and I use the term “serviceable” very broadly. It smelled and tasted of cigarette ash. However, a wine worth mentioning was the one before that was the 2006 Barone di Valforte Pecorino. Instead of tasting like cigarettes, it had notes of straw, peaches, and apricot and it was quite good.

   I love the commercial at the end! HAHA
   Last wine I tried was today during launch with Glazed Ham, here are my notes:->

   2004 Martinez Bujanda Tempranillo La Mancha Finca Antigua Spain 100% Tempranillo 6 month new French Oak, 13 days stainless steel cask. Single vineyard estate grown. I did not decant this wine at first and have been tasting it throughout the day.

   Color: Dark color( dark pinot noir like) garnet/purple hue.

   Nose: Sour fruit cherry and rhubarb like

   Taste: Medium to light bodied wine with a very dry finish. Some acidity never too much, smooth texture. Flavors of cherry and berries, with hints of green vegetables medium to long finish.

   Solid wine, I would serve it with a ham.
   85 points decent wine for under 10 dollars.

   The last bottle that I had was a 2005 J. Lohr Cab Sauv. It was excellent! I highly recommend getting some.

   Yuw! Great ad on the end of this one. Spit on the lens, next time you feel like giving a bottle a pass with 82 Z’s!
   QOTD: I’m at home by now (that is with my parents) and I am since I started taking wine seriously trying to reeducate my father in his drinking habits. It’s not that he does not know what a good wine is or smth like that, but he still has the idea that you shouldn’t pay too much for a bottle of juice. That’s ok with me, but not with his price range (up to € 10!). And then there is the thing that every wine that exits his cellar is a GOOD wine, just because it was there, nah … though student I’d say. Yet, yesterday he got me there. He opened a Cantine Due Palme Canonico Salento IGT 2004, a €5 bottle, 100% Negroamaro. I went already sceptical, but no … actually it was I nice surprise: good every drinking wine, very fruit driven style, but clean, balanced, chunky cherry flavours, some chocolate truffle and Ribes. It was pretty good for the price.

   just catching up on some wltv episodes. I’m having a sampler; 05′ albarino pedralonga, 03′ vega moragona tempranillo, & a 97′ tomasi “ripasso” valpolicella… pairing lovely with a Mc D’s double cheese burger and fries. Thanks for show. it is brilliant!

    If you really are such a comment crackhead as you claim, do you go back and read comments added to episodes a two or more days later? I did not see an answer in the comments here or in subsequent WLTV episodes, despite multiple people BEGGING to know what was in the decanter! Are you GUILTY (i.e., The Guilty) of decanting the Shiraz as a clue to the mystery poster behind you? What a tease!

    Gary, you’ll probably never come back and read this but I was in Cape Cod last week with no WLTV so I’m alittle late seeing this episode.
    PAMPERS!???! you’re out of your freaking mind (lol). Love the commercial! As for your question, on the Cape I found a 1998 Chateau de Musset Bordeaux on the shelf of a Mom & Pop liqour store that they must have forgotten about priced @ $11.99. I just opened it and it’s great. I also picked up a Chenin Blanc, Cave de Saumur neither of which you carry (I already checked) that I will open tomorrow.

    Thanks for the great episodes, kept ‘em real!

    Congratulations Gary! You met your 100 goal. Is this the first time? I missed WLTV for the past several days and just got caught up today. I had a Duckhorn ‘00 Savignon Blanc earlier this week which, I too wasn’t crazy about and generally speaking, I like Sauv. Blancs and look to always try new ones. The most recent wine I drank was ‘01 Kracher Trockenbeeren Auslese Number 4 last night, which I purchased at WL about a month ago, a little bit of that goes a long way and can definately soothe the soul! Anyway, my favorite reviewer, Gary by far (most integrity); before there was WLTV, I was most successful with Wine Spectator’s James Laube and on the recommendations of more trusted wine shops in NJ and NY. Several times, I’ve been burned eating out and getting recommendations from servers. Believe it or not, as far as dining out, I’d rather trust myself and only dissappoint myself if I make a bad selection. Soooo, I answered two QoD’s in one. Happy to see that Gary’s back! BTW, what ever did happen to that commercial? AND, the decanter appears to be the upcoming commercial for todays episode, sort of like “the sequel”…I hope I’m right because I can’t wait to find out, what little beauty you’ve got in there…hopefully in the next few hours…

    Here in Montgomery County MD the County is selling the Malbec we both had, and a Cab by the same producer but I prefer the malbec. This area has to be the high point of anti-shipping for wines in the country. I’m just glad that I can find a few I like in their limiting inventory. I don’t get to make many west coast trips to get the good stuff. A drive up to WL is still in my future, except that it would be about the same cost as flying to the west coast these days.

    Last wine was a Wolf Blass Gold Label Barossa Shiraz 2004. Not normally a great fan of Wolf Blass (except the Brown and Black label), but this was FANTASTIC!

    As for last couple questions of the day,

    I am a Port and my last wine was the Castello Della Paneretta Chianti Classico 2003- very nice nose and finish. I drink 2 or 3 bottles a week average

    What a great question of the day!!! I appreciate the recognition 2 days in a row. I just finished up reading all the notes. AMAZING!!! I could rattle off 100+ Bordeaux’s and what I think of them on a price / quality ratio, but I have not heard of 1/2 of what people are drinking. I have made some notes and looking forward to expanding my selection. I dont think that this will come in at 100 – BTW – That would be prestigious in itself. Keep it up!!
