Gary, Great lively show on white burgundy. seems like you had a few “energy drinks” today. The show was an area I’m not overly familiar with and this should help. Those jug wines ruined a number of names beside chablis such as Rhine, Burgundy and Sauternes. Looking forward to the 100 show !

However…if it’s East Coast…then I WILL find a way to bring the viking hat!
And a bottle of 2005 Weston Chardonnay – My 5 cent one from Bevmo :-)

Fred Savage it is! Great Call!

Allright…I’ll change my vote from bowl game to San Francisco…just for all the Californians out there. Actually…the more I think about it, the more SF makes total sense. I say, if it’s in SF…the Cali boys will bring the good shit!…I’m in for a special bottle!

Gary…what’s with the lime green back ground?

Fred Savage!! That was VERY funny, Matty Van!

Re the real QOD – Why not have the party on-site at Wine Library? After the last episode, we’ll all have a pretty good idea of how to get there.

Thanks, Gary, for the sobering acknowledgement that marketing plays a significant role in what we think about wines…Chablis is a perfect example. Without your enthusiastic recommendation, I might have been afraid to try the Droin.

P.S. Steve from Blues Clues wants his shirt back…

QOD – My house! It would put an end to the “east coast” – “west coast” banter. Austin, Texas – equal distance for everyone to travel – except, of course, for those of us already in Texas…
Other great reasons to choose AUSTIN-
    It’s the best city ever
Every drunken, partying idiot in the world is not going to Austin for New Year’s – they’re headed to NYC OR SF
    Excellent weather (usually)

To add onto yesterday’s great comment regarding “dance with the one who brought you” – I agree. Plus, I did some price comparisons on a few GV picks, from recent WLTV episodes, that I could actually find in my city and here’s what I found:
    A. Mann Gewertsteimer (sorry, no spellcheck in the comment box) – $22.99 vs. $15.99 WL
Casa Julia Merlot – $13.79 vs. $9.59 WL
Ben Marco Malbec – $18.99 vs. $15.99 WL
    Nora Albarino – $14.99 vs. $11.99 WL
So, even with the $3/bottle shipping (per case to my state), the WL price is STILL equal to or better than what I’d pay locally.
    The spreadsheet is GREAT.

GV way to twist the knife deep into my bills fan heart, now I really hope the bills spank your jets at the meadow lands later this year so I can make you cry like my bitch. The jets played a good game…they won, they outplayed the bills and I can respect them for that.

Three god damns and an OJ referance..wow

Who would play Gary in the WLTV movie???….my vote is for Fred Savage, anyone else have any thoughts?

QOD – the only obvious answer is NYC, much cheaper to get his wine and staff to the location.

The green screen, the headset, the crew, the multiple cameras. This can only mean one thing:

    Wine Library…The Movie

Question is, who will play Gary?

QOTD: Gary, there can be only one choice. The Meadowlands!

    Hey, Gary, another great episode, as always. L-O-V-E the spreadsheet!! How cool is that??? And love to see your passion about your team. Life should be lived with passion!!!!! It’s what makes the world go ’round. As far as the QOD, I live in So Cal…How about partying on the little island of Catalina, California??? Hell, we’d be out in the middle of the Pacific…no one would hear us!!! :}

    Lots of comments today:

I got shut out on the Corte Riva even though I ordered on Saturday — c’mon you’ve got to have one bottle sitting there for me…

Is the green screen for some graphics or something?

    I agree that ‘75 was a great year — my birth year…

Is that a signed Joe Walton mini-helmet?

QOD: It should be in Chicago, of course, the center of the country!

Nice Bluetooth – we let you off the hook now.

QOD: (all NYC) Bubble Lounge, Divine Wine Bar, Otto, Park Blue, Vino Vino, Winebar

Thanks for the vote wayne530! But I can see where this vote is going already. All those New Jerseyites (New Jerseyians?? — what do you folks call youselves?) are going to vote for NYC, and then they’ll have their little party in the snow and the cold and the dark and – as usual – not reach out and expand their horizons. ;-)

Gary, how about two parties – east coast and west coast? I know it’s easy to stay in New Jersey because that’s where most of your customers are, but I bet you also do a lot of business out here.

Everyone from California, shout out! Let me know who you are! Brandon M, I know you’re from just down the road. The rest of you?? Let’s hear from the citizens of the Golden State.

    - Golden is better than “Garden” any day.

what’s the green screen about? another vote for SF for the WLTV tasting.

Three GDamns and a Zoom shirt! What more can WLTV viewers ask for? Maybe a friggin’ Lions victory for once. Let’s not even get started on how Michigan State, once again, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Notre Dame.

Nice episode. I always appreciate you dropping knowledge on us Gary. I honestly did not know the French counterpart to varietals I’m familar with, so big props on white burgundy/chardonnay.

Wine tasting party? If it’s in NYC, let’s do it at Jay-Z’s 40/40 club. We can drink some top shelf wine, watch some football and basketball, rub shoulders with Jigga-man and Beyonce. We can even reserve one of the private rooms on the second floor. One of the rooms has a 5-foot tall vertical chess board. Otherwise, let’s turn out Divine Bar (midtown east).

If you come to DC, let’s do Sonoma…nice wine bar on Capitol Hill. We can hold down the second floor with the fireplace and talk major smack about the Lions victory over the Jets on October 22.

What’s up with the new chartreuse wall color? Where’s that going? I’m surprised you didn’t paint it J-E-T-S green. I think Honolulu blue will look nice on October 23rd.

Great work on the spreadsheet Chris!!!!

Man great show, very pumped up. Thats what I like about this show; No Holds Barred, Anti PC, in your face opinions. How about a show where your at; but on a weekend. These weekday tastings are a killer for people far away. Just a thought.

Whenever man. I’m a South Plainfield guy relocated to Virginia Beach and will be home during Christmas…see you then.

    A WLTV party? Nice!
Even though I live in, um, Alaska (New Jersey), I think the party should be in New York City because it’s the most appropriate (convenient for me personally) location for such a monumental event. But how will Brandon M get his viking hat through airport security?

  19. September 25, 2006

    E-Rock

But Gary, the Bills had a 300 yd passer, a 150yd rusher and nearly 500 yds of total O. Those are numbers you can’t ignore my friend. Now you’ll take the win and that i understand because my phins did not make it look pretty yesterday but it was a win. You just can’t be saying that they destroyed them especially when you look at those stats. I say we keep it local… NYC baby!! Miami however would be very cool!! I was in the store on Thursday and i noticed many empty shelves downstairs. What was up with that??

  20. September 25, 2006

    Greg

    Gary,

I made my first trip to Wine Library on Saturday. LOVE the store! Picked up a lot of your recommendations. Let’s see how they pan out.
I guess I was one of the customers who helped contribute to the Corte Riva running out.

QOTD: I was at a place on Saturday night called “Vintage New York”. The front is set up like the tasting bar at a winery and the back is a restaurant. I think that would make a great place to have the WLTV party. The hard part would be convincing them to serve wines that aren’t from New York. (In case you’ve never been, they only serve wines from NY state)

QOTD: Highlawn Pavilion…you can see NYC from there!

The headset…a day late, don’t ya think?

Thanks for getting the spreadsheet up Chris Stan, Gary and crew.

    Gary,
Here’s a thought. Why don’t you wear a article of clothing with the Jet’s logo the day after a win and when they don’t win, wear an article of clothing with the logo of the the team that whips the Jet’s. In fact, why not the whole week? Gary, are you man enough to do this? Well, are you?

  24. September 25, 2006

    Bruce S

A few comments and you get a Blue tooth. Stop giving in to the man. Fight the power.

  25. September 25, 2006

    Tony

    Gary,

Nice headet. Now let’s see you actually use it!

I’m going to be in San Francisco right around New Years, so my vote goes for SF, baby. Get all you east coasters off your freezing cold butts and out here to sunny California (well, it might be raining cats and dogs, but I guarantee no snow in San Francisco)! What better place than one of the greatest cities in the world, right next to one of the premier wine growing regions in the world.

    Can’t touch that.
