Re: wish list comments from everyone. I don’t want the wish list for myself, but my parents and in-laws always ask me what I want (Christmas, birthdays, etc). My reply is always wine. But they don’t have the first clue as to what kind. So it would be really easy to point them to winelibrary.com and see a wish list…

Rocky I: Music was better than IV. The best part was that he lost, but he didn’t get knocked out.
Rocky IV: Not as good as the first because the boxing wasn’t as “real” and it was all about revenge.

GO STALLION….GO!! I appreciate your passion.

BTW, I’m not questioning your passion or appreciation in ANY way. I’m AGREEING with you and my point is that it’s a shame that someone as passionate as you about Rocky was not able to experience the whole Rocky I thing….it was AWESOME. You deserve that more than ANYONE. I was 12 or 13 at the time and saw it with a bunch of buddies. We were all so pumped afterwords. Anyway, that experience (as well as the movie) will make Rocky I my favorite forever. Anyway, hope we’re square and you understand that we’re really agreeing.

thanks again for the info on Haier!!

If you are considering a EuroCave go to the Wine Enthusiast Outlet http://www.wineenthusiast.com/E/results.asp?Ep=N/63+173&uid=8B8FF2AD-DEF8-43EE-9C71-CB61DDC99A2A Both my neighbor and I bought our 260 count units from there. Mine has such a small scratch on the side that it was laughable, and I saved hundreds of bones. They are very good at describing exactly what if anything is flawed on the unit.

  • LOL….Chris, of course we’re square…your the man. Rocky is a great movie. No prob with the info. I just want to be as helpful as I can, because there is very little information on the net about which wine fridge is the best. So I went through all that crap so I could pick the BEST one. I am the type of person that will research and find out everything I can about something before I buy it. This way I know what the best is, and then I get it. The Haier 42 bottle and the GE model (i think 45 bottle, which can be found at the bestbuy website) got the best reviews….but I truly believe that the other Haier model will do just fine. I actually saw that one, but didn’t get it because it was too big and I didn’t have enough room for it. Let me know if you have any other questions, because I may be able to help

SSChris (#101) – THANKS! I will definitely request Gary to send you my e-address. I’m looking forward to using what you’ve got going and I really appreciate you sharing it!

Eileen (#92) – I have definitely noticed what you mentioned with the “swishing” – how I think of it is like this. I think swishing (because it puts the wine into contact with every possible sense perceptor and taste bud in the whole mouth and tongue) is like taking off the clothes, girdle (yikes!), makeup and everything from a woman! Whatever is REALLY there is going to be revealed! And frankly – for everybody’s enjoyment, it’s sometimes better to keep it all under wraps! The better the wine, the more it can stand up to the “naked assessment” that swishing reveals – only the super-models can really take it!

Tom T – over decanting – My husband and I did a “test” last week on this exact question. We took a bottle of ’95 Temperanillo, Reserva, classic old-world Spanish wine. We decanted and then tasted it immediately and then intermitently over the next 30 hours. The benefits of the decanting started to kick in after about 2 – 3 hours and it got progressively better up through about 15 hours – then it started to decline and by 30 hours it was BAD. Obviously, the makeup of the wine, the age, the variety, etc. would affect all of these factors but I think there’s definitely a curve.

    GV,
Thanks so much for the shipping code! I wasn’t a Jets fan before, but now… GO JETS! What’s on tap if they win the Super Bowl? The five wines I’ll enjoy soon are ones I just ordered from you. Heat episode?

One thing to keep in mind on those wine cellars, Eurocave or any of the others. They LIE. The capacity is always less than what they say it is, so if possible, plan to buy a larger unit than you think you need. I think they determine the capacity based on total inner dimensions, with the bottles stacked on each other with no shelves or racks. But we know thats not practical. I, like tampasteve, have a Eurocave260, but based my shelf arrangement (combination of sliding and fixed), it only holds 200 at best.

JULIUS, thanks for that important heads-up

STALLION, Trust me, I’m the same way…I think you get an idea how thorough and anal I am from the SS. LOL

TAMPA STEVE, When I click on that link, it brings to a place where they all seem to be new (unscratched). Is there a specific place on that site where I’m supposed to go??

Rocky 1 is a better movie over all BUT If you were age 14-21 and saw Rocky 4 in the theatre during the height of the Cold War you know its the only movie that people were jumping out of their seats chearing and chanting USA during. It is my only movie memory of the 80’s along with MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS OF ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW! drinking everyones favorite wine BOONSFARM & Maddog 20/20(which I am not sure what it was)

So Stallion I will go with you on that Rocky 4 thought.

How long does the free shipping code last?
I need to wait until the 20th to order.
You know, credit card considerations. Will it last thru the week?
    Thanks,
    John M.

    TO ALL

Notice some wonderings about Wine Fridges Just Picked up a little unit in of all places Target
it is an AVANTI Wine Cooler. It holds 12 bottles ( I bought 2) and was on sale for 99 from 129. It is a Thermo electric refrigeration unit ie;no moving parts except for 2 small muffin fans (the type that cool your PC). It uses an electronic technology that creates refrigeration with out a compresser. Although it is not capable of much below 50 f it keeps wine at the right temp (I am finding out most whites are kept to cold and you don’t notice alot of the subtler flavors and reds to warm). If you like it colder a 1/2 hour in the fridge does it since the wine is at 50 already. It also takes up very little space 25h x 10d x 19d it unobtrusive, makes virtualy no noise except for the fans ,no vibration as not to shake up the sediment in reds and has removed the Wine clutter from our fridge. The only down side is it only holds 750 ml bottles and smaller and some of the longer Reislings don’t allow the door to close. This is a handy little unit.
    Regards MIKE P
