Good episode Gary, love when you throw those curve balls. Would also love to see you do an episode on vin jaune's and a tasting on different charbono's.

Favourite Australian Shiraz - not the Barossa Valley wines for me, but rather shiraz from the cool climate regions of my native Victoria - esp Heathcote, Great Western, Bendigo, Sunbury and Yarra Valley.

Jasper Hill, Seppelts St Peters Shiraz, Bests Bin 0 and Thompson Family, Craiglee. I've been a 20 year fan of Jasper Hill and Craiglee.. I could also throw in Warramate and Paringa Estate too.

Cool climate Victorian Shiraz is more reminescent of the Northern Rhone (OK, Jasper Hill 's Georgia's Paddock is unusual).

BTW, the video for episode 109 appears to be corrupted. I'd be really interested to see the tastings of the remaining 3 wines (after the Torbreck) so if it is possible to fix it....

Thanks for the great site. I can't believe I haven't discovered this until now. What a hoot!

cheers, Mike

My favorite Australian Shiraz.....2003 The Standish from Barossa. I'm not generally a big fun of Parker's big scores (often too alcoholic) but this one @ 14.5 is perfectly balanced. I hope you can taste it and share your opinion.

QOTD: I haven't had much top end Australian Shiraz, but my favorite so far has to be the Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz-Viognier I had today. I liked it so much I decided to see if you had ever tasted Chapoutier during WLTV. So I did the search and was led here and apparently you HAVEN'T tasted any Chapoutier on WLTV. Oh well.
