Dr. Beeper: I thought you’d be the man to beat this year.
Ty: I guess you’ll just have to keep beating yourself.

    Gary,

    …. alot going on….

if it’s work stress, i would have to agree with SS Chris. cut back on the episodes to prevent burning out. We Vayniacs live for your episodes but if we have to cut back to keep the episodes strong, we support that.

all other stress, we hope you get the support you need.

hope you were able to set everything aside to watch your Jets get a win!

When you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?

    PATTY O,

Rather than Vayner-Archives, how about Vaynarchives.

I appear to have a slight talent for improving Vaynerisms (a highly lucraative an marketable talent I might add).

I’m not sure if you remember, but TONY nominated VaynerMANIACSinitially, which I later morphed intto VaynIACS. Aside from the Wine Librarian blip, the rest is history!! LOL :-)

Big Billy…I think a lot of us put a ton of private and personal thoughts into this community, and us being curious about babies and the like is just our hapiness for Gary, and the joy that something like that would bring to his life.

Personally, at least on the blog, I don’t feel Gary gets a lot of personal (private) opinions and comments. I also think that everyone here is pretty much in support of what he needs to do for himself. Not that I don’t think his private life should be private, but I don’t see where anyone is really be all that intrusive. Anyone elses thoughts?

Then again, the fact that we are discussing it, could be intrusive enough.

Let Us Let Gary’s Private Life Be Private
Just an opinion, not a scold.
The white board in Ep. 111 said, “Forget Me. What Do U Like?” what we may be witnessing is the downside of having a personality centered community. Listen to Ep. 112 with his answer to CShell on why he looked like Riddler. I think he gets tired of all the devotion, negative as well as positive. Plus, don’t forget, that last week was a work week from Hell.

Think of what work was like at WL last week with a 700 order jolt with free shipping. I guarantee that it was busier than a herd of tomcats in a rocking chair factory. I’ll bet all hands turned to getting that extra business out in a timely and orderly manner.

I placed my order on Monday and had it in hand on Friday, it left WL Tuesday. My order was 13 different items in an 18 bottle order. I would guess that most of the orders were picked orders like mine, meaning one of this and two of that. Imagine 700 orders like that. That’s hard work!, and I’ll bet GV was in there pitching with the troops to get the stuff shipped. In addition He was also producing a WLTV episode out everyday, including one where he tasted 15 wines!

    Stay of good cheer.

Agree – plus, with 3 – 4 new episodes a week, we’d all be forced to watch or re-watch the earlier episodes. There’s a LOT to learn and/or re-learn in the Vayner-archives!

I opened 2 Cotes du Rhones tonight that GV did on the Cotes du Rhone episode. (I needed 2 cups for a French stew…)
    2004 Perrin Reserv – $9 – 2004 Domaine Grand Veneur – $14
Had my husband do a blind taste (30 minutes decanted).
His perceptions went right along the lines of what Gary said about these two. Fun!
Bottom line – the Perrin was certainly not junk, it is drinkable but light/thin (taste, not visually), way less fruit/spice dimension, almost no mid-palate or finish. It went in the stew.
Veneur – complexity and depth we personally haven’t experienced before in a Cotes du Rhone. Both of them have what you’d recognize as classic nose for that style but the Veneur was like the “all grown up” version. Way more going on in the palate, cinnamon and warm woods. ALSO, 14.5% alcohol (high for the style?) vs. 13% for Perrin. You don’t really feel or taste it, but you sense it in terms of “body” in the mouth – if you get what I’m saying.

    Hey Gary,

What’s up dude? Are there a bunch of malcontent wholesalers out there complaining again? Don’t let them get to you man. The truth is the truth.

About the show schedule, drop it down to 3 a week if you are gonna work yourself to death doing 5. Heck take next week off while I’m in Europe and can’t check in to see what’s up back here. ;)

I have an idea…only do 5 epsiodes a week when the Jets win, that way you’ll NEVER have to do a full week more than 8 times a year!

    Absolutely

    Brandon,

I think you are correct that WLTV is not the cause of the stress. But I think GV feels a responsibility to post 5 Eps per week which is ADDING to the stress.

He needs to be able to NOT do an episode when he is swamped by other things.

  16. October 22, 2006

    Brandon M

Agreed!…Seriously..I would love 5, 6, 7 epsiodes a week, but that would spoil me. When you took time off between 99 and 100 I found my self SOOOO pumped for #100 (Absence makes the Vaniac obsessive).

Gary…I would feel no love lost if you cut back, and support SS Chris’s comments.

I have a funny feeling (just a hunch) that WLTV is not the cause of your stress, but whatever it is, you gotta do for you. After all, I have enjoyed 112 epsiodes and countless hours of entertainment…FOR FREE…so thanks, and take care of yourself and your family!

Favorite Cali chardonnay was a 1999 Beringer Reserve from Napa. Would love to have some more of that juice…………

The other thing to keep in mind is that you could always have guest hosts for WLTV. I’m sure you’ve got a bunch of guys at the store who’d be dying to do an episode or two.

Chris…your last paragraph was EXCELLENTLY phrased!

Gary, Do NOT apologize if VaynIACS miss a subtlety of your sense of humor (i.e. your ending statement in Thursdays “glass” episode). I was one of the idiots who didn’t get it at first…that’s my fault…at least my problem. KEEP being YOU!!!! This is critically important to the future of WLTV.

Secondly, you mentioned the rating of Caymus on the GLASS episode (which you had rated from 91 to 95). I was recording the highest rating of 95. Based on today’s comment, I will downgrade tha rating to a 93. AGREED??

Finally and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I know other’s have mentioned this…if WLTV is getting to be too much, please cut back. There is no bigger VaynIAC in VaynerNATION than I…but…I would prefer to have 3 or 4 episodes per week rather than you getting burned out. If you continue @ 5 per week and then get burned out and WLTV goes away, I will be PISSED. And you know I’m in the store all the time and I know where your office is. LOL. Anyway, I think you know what I’m saying.

OK Gary…Props to you and your Jets on the 31-24 win ! My Lions made a valint comeback, but just came up short (as usual :( ) Who the hell is Leon Washington?

Keep an eye out for something in the way of a pay up for all my woofing.

I’m not a sore loser. Hey, you can’t be when you’re a Lions fan. Congrats.
