Hint #1… Henry Ford was a friend of Hitler

    Hey cgf,

It has to be a blind taste off. Only way to go with that one.

    Cheers, Mike E.

Re TimF’s post (#217), at the bottom of the page of the link (SFGate…) is another interesting link where you can take the “Ultimate wine IQ test.”

    Hi TimF,

    Thanks for the link.

It seems that there is not much out there in the US press/web about full-on red sparklers. I have had a couple of German ones that are very interesting from a tasting and novelty perspective. However it seems to be a more localized market for these. The most we see is the Rose variety.

    Cheers,
    Mike E.

MarcT, I still say TIP-OFF. Why would WS spend HUGE HUGE bucs (or as Gary would say…BONES) to run an add today that advertises a free access period from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31. Heck today is the 25th already. Spending HUGE HUGE money to run an add that is already 10 days into it’s 14 day target period. Something just doesn’t make sense with that, other than TIP-OFF.

Oh, and for the Big-Name Champagnes vs. Grower Champagnes taste-off, I am assuming you will taste the wines blind?

    BrandonM…
General Motors produced vast quantities of armaments, vehicles and even aircraft during World War II, and also had sizeable interests in Nazi Germany. During the war, the U.S auto companies were concerned that the Nazis would nationalize American owned factories in Germany. In the spring of 1939, the Nazis had assumed day to day control of American owned factories in Germany, but decided against nationalizing them. GM’s William P. Knudson served as head of U.S. wartime production for President Franklin Roosevelt who had referred to Detroit as the Arsenal of Democracy. Today, Detroit is the headquarters for the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, known as TACOM.

    I am reaching now!!!

TampaSteve…I doubt WS is worried about WLTV…not that WLTV is not the most important thing EVER!
I did happen to notice the HUGE full page ads at the end of the food section from other wine stores…but they mean nothing to me here in Atlanta.

OK…now I KNOW that WS got tipped off. Look at the pic on the top left page of “Wine Spectator Online”. What do you see under “Tasting Highlights”….BARBARESCO. Look at your add dead center…”Episode 85 BARBBARESCO”. What the heck are the chances of THAT!!!! GARY I SMELL TIP-OFF….BIG TIME

    TampaSteve

Hey Gary got a question. Do you think that Wine Spectator got tipped off that you were going to place an add in the NYT? Maybe that is why they placed a 2 page giant color add on the page right before yours announcing their 2 week “free access” period. Do you think they are getting worried about WLTV’s success???

    Gary-
Finally, ive been looking for this episode and you delivered! Gary, what do you consider a grower champagne? Is it any champagne that is not the widely marketed ones as you suggest? Is it single-vineyard champagnes? just wondering. sorry if this was asked above but there are way too many comments to read.
QOD: ive only had the big-name champagnes, so now i have to change that!
Cool ad in the NYTimes today. Too bad there was no wine column.
thanks again for all that you do. Forget the vloggies, Gary Vaynerchuk for N.J. Senate!
