“And there’s the Fed X delivery truck! Hooray! A WL case – I’d better go so I can give my LEGAL, over 21 signature!” Comment 30: By PattyO

PattyO- when DHL shipps to my house they leave it for me and note there system “signed by – left at door” makes it east on me as I am at work always when they deliver, is porbally breaking the rules as if I were 18 years old i would be able to order

“Tell me, what is the best selling variety at the Wine Library? Is it Shiraz/Shirah, cab. Sauv., Pinot…..? Inquireing (sp.?) minds want to know.” Comment 32: By BigAl

BigAl – I would guess cabernet and chard…I would be curious to know to, also I would like to know what the 10 wines sold are

GV how about an episode on the top 5 sellers regardless of there quality

    Gary,

Ever have the Col Solare meritage from Antinori/Ste. Michelle? One of the few my wife has loved right out of the bottle (silky tannins immediately…she has low tolerance for the tannin pucker).

And I’ve always wanted to ask you this….have you ever noted a “soupcon of asparagus” in the nose of a wine?

    Thanks,

    David

Another exlurker uncovered by great ending. Loved the Spidey gig. Been subscribed for a while just started buying remote. Used to stop in because I didn’t think you shipped to this benighted neighboring state where all the wines are permanently in bottle shock. Your comments on PA’s restraint of free wine trade and the Chairman’s Select program?

    Another good episode.

Gary – do you find that Australia produces more “fake” or “artificial” tasting wine than any other region? If so, why do you think that is?

I think you should keep the picture feature going…I like the idea of having viewers submit pictures and videos. It’s cool to see how diverse the viewers are….from different ages to locations, etc.

    Nice!

Great opening at first I thought WLTV was going a little late night cable. TAKE THE HIGH ROAD Gary V for delagate to the UN

gary…. Great episode. Loved your take on ‘Take the high road” You are so right!

Tell me, what is the best selling variety at the Wine Library? Is it Shiraz/Shirah, cab. Sauv., Pinot…..? Inquireing (sp.?) minds want to know.

    Jaye,
Glad you liked the tie. The friends that took the pic didn’t understand.

E-Along the lines of Gary’s “yes and yes” answer to your Musar question, I passed along a bit more detail in answer #111 on yesterday’s comments in case you didn’t get back to yesterday’s segment.

Gary – Hmmm. I regards to your comment that “I don’t agree with anyone all the time except myself…”
Think, episode #108, the Mahoney Pinot Noir (need I say more?)
GaryV-”I loved it and we ordered it for the store”
    sniff sniff taste spit taste
GaryV-”I’m a little bit surprised and extremely disappointed – I really can’t sit here and say I adore this wine. Awkwardly, I have to tell you this is a PAZZ.”
Just goes to your frequent commentary about wine tasting as a “moving target”. There are so many variables that even the refined, educated palates are influenced from one tasting to another. Same wine, different perceptions.

And there’s the Fed X delivery truck! Hooray! A WL case – I’d better go so I can give my LEGAL, over 21 signature!

BTW Gary – nice job with the “high road” lesson. GV diplomacy all the way. Ever consider going into middle school education?? Or politics?? Or parenting?????

PS – I can see I won’t be able to drink any of the WL delivery this weekend. EVERY bottle has its eyebrows raised – undeniable case of bottle shock.

Great episode, high energy, loved the south park montage song at the end. I would of sent a pic in but I was too busy with my fist of my own ….

Substitue QOD – What is the number one bottle you have ageing that you look forward to drinking the most when its ready?

Brandon – 2003 Togni Estate Cabernet. WL has it in stock and Gary gave it a two thumbs up (and a 95 score) on episode #110. And Parker said in Dec ‘05 “…I rarely touch a Togni Cabernet Sauvignon before age 8 or 10. The 2003 requires another 7-8 years of cellaring, and should last for three decades or more.”

    Jack:)

Great show. Great montage. I really like the episode idea I saw in the forum of an episode with Vaynerpapa. Also just a reminder. 50 episodes ago you had some brown paper bags on the table for a blind tasting which was coming up in “a couple of episodes”.

    Gary,

Great show as always. Really loved the tie breaking process.

Could you do a show tasting some more of the 2003 Cabs that WA and WS differ on? Possibly the Montelena(93-95 vs 72), Dominus(95 vs 81), and Larkmead Solai(94 vs 81)?

    Gary -

The episodes are getting better and better! Loved that huge gap between the WS and RP Oroppas Scores. I think I need to order a 6 pack from Mick!

Given all the time and effort put into production, is your job title morphing to become Director of Marketing?

    Go Bears!

Great opening, awesome ending. I’m going to have to try the Oroppas. It’s as close as I’ll ever come to an Opus or Insignia. I just can’t bring myself to fork out so much cash. Plus that, my hubby would totally freak. Thank you, Gary, for the info.
PS: I drive a Toyota named Bentley. ;)

I know…I should have bought the futures on the Montlena but didn’t want to spend the money at the time. It’s for my daughter so it has to be ‘03.

And Gary…cmon now..I’m not the one in the fancy Manhatten high rise apartment…!
But I will take you up on the ‘03 blind.

Gary called you out as a wealthy big hitter today. If you have a store of Bond and Harlan you want to taste in a group, I’ll take the trip north for it!!!

Who cares about the wine- Where is that Republic of from the opening- If they got women like that floating around- Hey now! I am going whats the conversion rate?

    Gary,

    Nice, crisp episode today!

I was shocked by Spectator’s ratings of Cali Cabs a couple issues ago. Dominus ‘03 mid-eighties, ‘03 Hourglass 87 points, and 2002 Montelena 70 some points. Do you think Laube is tryign to send a signal to the old California gaurd with these ratings? Can you taste a Montelena 2002 Estate for us and rate it? I had a 2002 Montelena a few months ago, and didn’t find it life-changing – but it certainly wasn’t a under-80 point wine!

    Awesome episode Gary!
Oh man the ending with the Southpark song!!!
I can’t wait to get my pic to you!

    The Godfather

    GV,
The 2000 Barolo’s and Barbaresco’s are becoming a freek show. Every one I’ve tasted was disjointed and dumb. I think Daniel Tomases has it right. I’d love to be proved wrong but, for my bone$, the 1998 and 1999 vintages are the nuts. Have a good weekend all.

Thanks Steve, I’m actually looking for something to go another 17 years…any suggestions
