Hi Gary – I am one of those you have emailed in the early hours . . . on more than one occasion, so thanks for that! And no-one referred me to wltv, as I found it on your website basically at the very beginning. Nice job on Aussie cabernets today! It would be great to look at a few others as well from Coonawarra, like Zema and Bowen Estate. Also occasionally some other areas produce some damned fine cabs. I will bet no one in this country has tried a quality cab from Mudgee (Peterson’s “Ian’s Selection”)!!
Keep up the good work – we appreciate it!!

    Gary,
OK…another lurker guilted into joining the party. I heard you on Martha Stewart Radio on Sirus (not the last time but the time before that) and have been checking out every episode since then. Because of YOU (and a little bit of me), my husband and I have broken out of the Yellow Tail doldrums and are trying new wines every weekend! I love your spirit, the way you describe wines and your honesty! Since I started to actually pay attention to what I like.. I have given wines a PASS that I would have typically just kept drinking because it’s there. Very liberating!! I WISH that my state allowed shipping but Massachusetts stinks that way. We are planning an expedition to your Wine Library store in NJ over the holidays while we are down there visiting friends. Keep up the great work!

    GO PATS!

QOD – I heard about Wine Library TV from WineLoversPage.com. They show a picture of an episode at the top of their page and provide a link.

Thanks for the 2005 Bordeaux advice. Now I have homework: Find a nice 2005 Bordeaux and find out how to store a bottle of wine for 5 years.

I’m loving the Laid-back Friday episodes. I say you should keep with them.
QOTD – Did a google search back in February and stumbled upon the WLTV. The rest is history.

    Gary,

WL came to me in a vision …

Okay actually it came to me through Wine Searcher.
Unfortunately you do not ship to Minnesota :(

    Gary VAY NER CHUK,

I’ll admit it dude, I have been a lurker. I have been watching WLTV for about a month now. Since then I have watched everyday, and even went back to Episode # 1 and watched every single episode to catch up (by the way the wine room looks awesome ). Anyway, I love what your doing and appreciate your candidness. Sorry I haven’t commented before, I just get home late and there are already, 50-70 comments up so I feel like you’ll never see mine. So, hopefully you’ll see this one, give me a shout out and I’ll be sure not to lurk ever again. And by the way thanks for the Charles Creek Merlot on “free”, going to open it tonight paired with a leg of lamb. And in reference to 05 Bordeaux, any one imparticular you can reccommend in the $20-30 range, I’d love to lay one down.

    Thanks Gary
KEEP UP TO GREAT WORK, I THINK I CAN SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY THAT WE APPRECIATE IT.

    Gary,
I discovered WL when a free shipping code appeared on the Wine Spectator website. I tried it and have been hooked ever since. The addition of WLTV has made this site even better. Keep up the good work.

For the record, I don’t remember getting anything later than 0030 EST. But is he crankin’ out email at 8:30 on a Saturday morning, that’s what I wanna know.

Count your blessings: it isn’t the Bills at home in December. That would be truly frightening.

Big leather couches and Pittsburgh steak are both beautiful things, as are mixed cases and http://www.thewinedoctor.net – a lot like wineanorak, but maybe a little more Bdx-focused.

I ran across a winery going through Kansas this week. It smelled of elderberries! Had any positive experiences drinking from unorthodox parts of the USA, ie Kansas, Missouri, Texas and so on?

QOD: long before there was a WLTV, was looking for some Aglianico and used The Google! (Found some, too. I should see how that last bottle’s doing …)

I found out about WLTV from, of all things, a very popular bargain-hunter’s website: http://www.fatwallet.com. Someone had posted a “free shipping” code there. Since this was the 1st time I’d ever seen a wine store offering free shipping with no bottle limits (i.e., 1 bottle to infinity, and beyond!), I hurried on over and checked out their prices…unbelievably low! So I stocked myself up with a quickness! THEN I noticed this unobtrusive little tab on the homepage that said, “TV.” I clicked on it—Gary V. totally blew me away—and I got addicted to him just like I got addicted to “24″ and Jack Bauer—the rest is history!

I went to work after that weekend and referred everyone in my wine tasting mail list to it. I also went to my fav local wine store, and told one of the “cool” employees about it. He knows a lot, and teaches a lot of their wine tasting classes. He pulled it up while I was there, and now he admits that he’s addicted to you/your concept, and is living for the next free shipping code, too.

Gary: Viral advertising. Word of mouth recommendation. This is why network marketing is all about and I’m sure a lot of us on here do this for you already because we love you, so one day you probably will grow so much that you will be rich enough to buy the Jets. That said- if you write your plans/dreams down somewhere, and if you post them where you’ll always be confronted with them, experts claim that this prompts you to work every day towards your goal, and that people who do this are far more likely to be successful than people who merely speak their goals.

You might also want to designate a percentage of each of your WLTV paychecks towards buying the Jets. Funny story: This one radio guy wanted a plasma TV really bad. So he opened a PayPal account and he told the folks on the radio and everyone he knew about his dream and about his Paypal account he’d established for this purpose, and he let them know that if they wanted to donate a dollar or so, they could. Some people of course thought he was selfish and crass and crude, but to be fair he was very upfront about what he was going to do with the money–he wasn’t lying and pretending to be a charity promising to save the world or anything–if people wanted to help him, what was wrong with that? He actually made a respectable amount of money! Who whudda thunk? Maybe someone rich here will hit the Powerball or remember you in their will, or something, and you’ll be unexpectedly much closer to your goal. Anyway, I hope that you DO achieve your goal of owning the Jets one day… :-)

    Hey Gary,
Great episode and very surprised by the description of the Penley. But a ‘99 and a ‘2000 “readily available around the country” ?? Hmmm…. QOTD: Yeah, that billboard on 78 is like a hypnotizing beacon calling my name. My seven year old exclaims “Daddy are we going to that place AGAIN?!” However the original source for me was searching on the WL site. Cheers, C

GAry has emailed me after 3 AM EST. I’ve been watching WLTV since the beginning. Gary have any opinions on sparkling shiraz?

I was referred to WL by Gerry Isenberg; BEFORE WLTV existed! I was happy getting excellent juice at the best price. Now we have WLTV to enlighten us further.

QOD: I got the chance to meet, document and make wine with the Coturri’s in Glen Ellen for a few days this harvest, and when I got back from the fabulous time, did a little more research to find your AWESOME interview/tasting with Tony (#35)! That’s how I found out about you, and now, I just enjoy the show and learn a lot about wine. It’s truly entertaining, because you are so good at what you do… You captivate your audience in a positive and up-beat manner, while really knowing wine back to front.

I am hooked! Thank you for the HARD WORK!

Funny, it’s always been my belief that one should trust and develop their own personal palette. And this goes for everything from bread to chocolate! Just this evening at the City Beer Store in SF I was telling a guy who recently got introduced to Belgian beers, not to worry, taste taste and taste some more. It’s the best way to learn….. Same goes for wine of course!

    Hey Gary!

I found your site through SimpleBits.com. It’s a site normally about web design, but he mentioned you on Nov. 30, 06, comparing you to Ze Frank — another favorite of mine on the WWW.

To any one interested, you can find me on Cork’d as ‘biocsnerd’. I’m new to the wine world, so don’t expect anything too interesting :D

    Rob M.

I have received emails from Gary penned in the middle of the night. Thank you for answering every email I have ever sent. Props. Note the time I am commenting to you!

QOD: I have been receiving weekly emails from WL for a couple of years, and when WLTV launched, I didn’t think I would enjoy it, so I never watched it. In the 60’s, I watched an episode that I was interested in, became addicted, and have been loyal ever since. I have watched nearly every episode now, and continue to enjoy them every night.

Thanks for all you continue to do- you make drinking wine fun and enjoyable.

Also, thanks for your couple emails as well. This is the best blog EVER for me (not just among wine blogs, ALL blogs!!!).
