When I drink a nice bottle of wine……it makes me want to buy more wine, drink more wine, read more about wine, watch more of your older videos and generally get into a drunk wine induced vegetative state.
Great cork toss Garry….ever thought about doing a show in Canada?

G- good work. Your aim gets better the more ticked off you get… nice. But you really should’ve used the spinal tap voice… c’mon, you could’ve done it. Best!

This is my second or third post, not exactly a lurker, not exactly a regular. Don’t want to take the risk of getting banned, so here is my post.

QOTD: Tell my hubby good night, tell my kids to turn off the lights, put my head on the pillow and be thankful for many blessings.

Good episode today. Thanks for educating us.

Whats up Gary I have been a Lurker and I didnt want to get banned today LOL. I have been loving this and learning quite a lot about wine. It makes me want to give some of the white wines a try. After todays episode I will go buy some white.

    QOTD
When I drink a nice bottle of wine it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside until I pass out LoL

P.S. If you ever come to Napa CA holler at me and we can hang out. Hell you can even stay at my house :)

I may need to find the Raat since SA can produce some very interesting wines.

QOD: When I drink a nice bottle of wine it makes me “appreciate life” and on top of that “amorous”. I guess it’s the “oak thing.”

    Thanks for the great shows.

My only regret about this episode is that the 89pts/25$ might scare people away from trying out Savennieres. These wines are truly unique, and Nicholas Joly is THE wine grower of the appellation. Bear in mind that this is not one of his finest cuvées. Bear in mind also that Savennieres often need 5-10 years of aging before showing their full potential (2003 IS different and can be enjoyed younger becasue of the extraordinary hot summer of 03). I agree with Gary V that Savennieres are strictly food-wines – a great alternative to a bone dry, petroleum nosed alsacian Riesling. Apple and Chenin Blanc are a great pairing.

Hey gary, been lurking for a while, just thought I’d pipe in. Loving the show, keep it up.

What’s with the number, the 249 countdown thing? Need to ask, as I’m feeling like I’m missing something ;-)

Great energy today! Also liked you featuring a lesser-known grape.

What’s up with the pumpkin next to the bucket? Is this a hint for your countdown?

Or is the countdown the number of days before the Jets start a new season (since you’ve given up on them this year)???

PS – Congrats on the CNBC story! Nice job!

QOTD: It makes me grin and show the world my purple teeth. Actually, I like a good white too, but the effect on the dentition isn’t quite so dramatic.

Good show. I’m surprised you didn’t include a late-harvest dessert-style Chenin Blanc, such as a Delesvaux or something. Those are my favorites, but I have had several versions of Chenins that I like. Definitely an underappreciated grape.

Ahhh, it’s late out here. OK, firstly, the comment where you say the ‘Wicked Witch of the West stuck a bunch of bitter, disgusting flavors in there…” with “wild lush apple” is just the BEST! THAT’s why we love you, Gary. How better to educate than using examples everyone understands!?! Second, QOD. “When I drink a nice bottle of wine, it makes me”…SO VERY THANKFUL that I love wine. It’s the nectar of the gods. Whether we like it or not, it’s elegant and sophisticated…it is what it is.

    Gary,

    1. QOD…appreciate life, my senses, and the invention of wine making!!

    2. QOD…want to be rich, so I could do a wine shopping spree at Wine Library out of the temp controlled wine room

    3. QOD…thank God I didn’t waste my money!!

    Gary,
Nice job, and good choice as the Chenin Blanc is a little less well know then the usual Pinot Gris or the ubiquitous chardonnay. Its quite comparable to a Riesling. I recently picked up the Bonny Doon CB and have it in the refrigerator waiting to try.
As for the Question of the day: ….makes me smile and then reflective the life, especially the little things, can be “good” at times.

QOD: it makes me appreciate all that I have in life: an adoring wife, great friends, and just enough money to afford great (but not necessarily expensive) bottles of wine and some nice meals to go with them.
