    To any DOUBTERS of Gary,

I posted a response (comment #89) to HAPPY PELICAN. In it, I provided a roadmap of which back episodes to watch (3 episodes), where Gary talks most directly about his philosopy for WLTV. I believe that this philosophy comes through on almost all episodes, but on these 3 videos, he talk directly about it. This is specifically for all NEWER Viewers.

Herm… The Kosta Browne is a truly unbelievable wine. I have had my share and have never been dissapointed. The problem is that it is so hard to get. I’m paying around $40 on the list and have seen it as high as $200 a bottle. I would not recommend paying $200 for a bottle of wine that will not age like a $200 Bordeaux….but if you can find some in the $50 – $60 I would go for it.

In comment #99, Joyce wrote “jhfdhhdfdddhjfhjdfhjdhjdhfjdfhjdfhjdhjfdhjfdfhd…..ooops that was my head hitting the keyboard…….feel asleep watching winetastetv.com. Could she be anymore boring?”

    That’s pretty F-ing funny!!

Joyce, there’s a thread on the “Forum” about this. I suggested that Gary have her on as a guest. What a delicious juxtaposition….don’t you think?…”The Odd Couple” of wine. :-D :-D

I enjoyed the show….also heard you speak of Kosta Brown Pinot Noir…I would like to hear more about this wine…I couldn’t get the CNBC to download…

What a joke….do I have to go into it some more? Pelican was not right. HAsn’t Gary adressed the “two-hats” issue before? Geeese…pathetic

The pelican was right on about the CNBC slant but all publicity is good after all. Your father came across as a real nice guy. Today’s episode was excellant.

I had the Adara on thanksgiving and thought it was great and didnt encounter too much fake fruit flavor. Whats wrong wtith “extremely appealing and satisfying”? Should we drink something that will cater to our masochistic side instead? If you are looking for something subdued and tricky, this is not your wine. Rather, I think it is a great wine to drink on its own: its got 13.5 alcohol and has no heat.
We experience habituation to sensory input. You cant say that a first sip of wine will taste exactly like the last. Usually, the flavor mellows since this is a normal reaction to stimuli. Then youve got fatty foods etc that coat your taste buds and changing oxygen levels/wind patterns that all have great effect on the nose. So the flavor your start off with, will inevitably dull. This wine seemed to maintain a consistent “interesting” taste which I was sold on…i wouldnt hesitate in giving this a 90 in my book. Maybe someone (Gary?) can recommend a similar blend that would rival this.

I’m up to episode 65 in my retrospective. Having lots of fun. How about a couple of episodes doing verticals – Old World vs. New World. Explain what to look for and expect from aging. Got to get in on the t-shirt contest. I NEED to go tasting with the vaynic himself. Hell… if I don’t win can I pay to go with you too?

RE: CNBC….was I the only one that was taken with the fact that Pop’s started that place in some 400 sq ft place to what it is now? Kudos to the growth of your Biz

Ok, I tried again to watch winetastetv.com, forced myself to watch the whole webblog. It’s kind of like forcing yourself into a cold pool––it’s painful, but builds an appreciation for the hot tub that awaits you at the end of the torture—winelibrary.com……aaaahhhh……so much better for the soul.

Quite a serious post by a someone with a jovial name (smiling pelican) Ask yourself this: Do YOU think Gary can sell anything? OF COURSE he can. Then why wouldn’t he answer accordingly. At the end of every show he says “with a LITTLE bit of me we’re changing the wine world.” There’s your answer. And let’s not wax poetic about wine . . . wine is a special thing???? It’s alcoholic grape juice that’s fun to drink. I love it, you love it, but it isn’t world peace. And when CNBC does a feature for a segment called “ON THE MONEY” ummmm, there has to be a sales angle. Don’t forget Gary and his family built the best wine store for what they do, that’s exciting. If you play or played team sports with any level of seriousness you understand what building something means.

So crack open a bottle and errrbody chill.

I thought it was 248 days to the ~HEAT~ episode.

248….is that the number of days til brother AJ goes to college, or some equally momentous occasion? Just a guess.

jhfdhhdfdddhjfhjdfhjdhjdhfjdfhjdfhjdhjfdhjfdfhd…..ooops that was my head hitting the keyboard…….feel asleep watching winetastetv.com. Could she be anymore boring? Kind of like that no personality college professor, she may know a lot, but who can stay awake long enough to know? We love our Gary, there’s no one out there to duplicate what he does with the same passion and entertainment value. You can’t duplicate that infectious personality. Great to see Gary and his dad on CNBC. Good job. We can saw we knew you when………Joyce

Brandon, You said, “In the words of tonights Scrubs episode..Who are you and what have you done with SS Chris?” For anybody that knows me, this is a truly hysterical line. I know that Gary and Chris Mott are laughing… :-D :-D

Smiling Pelican (SP) did benefit from a “kinder, gentler” SS in my comment (#89)….didn’t he?

Let me clarify Brandon…I’m would be more upset with someone who has been watching for an extended period (like Derek in our Ep 96 comments battle).

I was assuming that SP is new viewer, and thus, deserved the benefit of the doubt. I could see someone new seeing that piece the way it was edited, and having some questions. You and I know Gary and his philosopy much better and didn’t have that perception of the “On The Money” piece…but I can understand. And in his comment he was asking for some convincing, which is why I provided him with a few of the more important episodes relative to the overall direction of WLTV per Gary.

And beyond that, just watching 5-10 videos, and I think Gary’s integrity comes pouring through the screen. So, I’m hoping that SP follows my prescribed viewing directions…has the expected epiphany….and posts a new thread on the Forum stating that he is now a full fledged, card carrying VaynIAC…we’ll see. If not, the old SS Chris is always lurking.

P.S. the one part of SP comment that I didn’t like was where he was telling Gary to go to a winemaker who cares…meaning that this would rub off on him…presuptuous, condescending and just incorrect factually. (uh oh….confrontational SS is creeping out again). LOL

Q.O.D. for Friday: “How long does it take for you to fall asleep while watching ‘WineTasteTV’?”

The host is the natural alternative for Lunesta [prescription sleep aid]. Also, she ’sucks-up’ to everything she tastes (must be for sales). Amazing: everything poured is great.

And the store associated with it is a joke too. –That’s not a kissing-ass comment – I’d tell ya Wine Library is a pazzzzz if I thought so.

Comment #69 by Jaye. I agree.

Karen McNeil’s “Wine Taste TV”? LOVE her book, I’m learning alot. Tried to watch some of her videos. I must have a short attention span. All un-Vayniacs should watch one. You will become a true WLTV convert.

Gary’s energy, passion, personality, vocabulary (ie cat piss, sweaty locker-room, road kill with cherries)…c’mon it just don’t get much better than that! LOVE IT! Thank you, Gary, for making wine so fun.

Can you describe how a $1,000 bottle of wine tastes, because I’m pretty sure I’ll never get that opportunity.

    Great episode Gary.

Loved the closing piece about sharing $1000 bottles of wines!

    Hi Gary,

Keep up the fun! I can’t agree more about the part to enjoy, learn, love, and most of all, to share the wine.

Also, tasted a bottle of the Convento Cappuccini Barolo last week. Nice, simple wine albeit young. Made the way I remember from growing up for 10 years in Italy. Perfect way to get Barolo into the hands of everyone without sticker shock and get more folks to experience the wonder of the Piedmont.

    Peace,

    Stefano

Wine Taste Tv?? Come on now guys!!! Karen McNeil…she’s only a Master of Wine and you get that approach when she talks about her wines, and then she smiles and says “oh and this bottle is $175″. Let’s recap the facts, 1) I am no Karen McNeil 2) I am nort going to spend $175 on a bottle of wine she’s in love with it 3) Throw out the rules, enjoy wine with friends, and if it’s a $25 bottle so what, it’s the memories you create with it!!

Long Live Free THINKERS like Chris!!
