QOTD: I was recommended to this site by a worker at Champanes wine cellar in Michigan. Once I realized what a great learning tool this was, I spent most of my free time getting caught up with past episodes. I have shared the site with about 4 of my good friends that are into wine.

What happened to this glass? Did the Riedel people give you the shaft?

QOTD1: Joel Stein and Time Magazine referred me.
QOTD2:I referred it to several people at work.
QOTD3: I love to refer people to cool new sites!

    GV,
I heard about this place 3 days ago from YouTube, while looking for wine tasting videos.

I told my youngest sister about it yesterday.

She’s the only one in my family as into wines as I am.

Also, I’ll probably tell my mom and other sisters, just because they seem to worship Silver Oak and GV has some less than stellar reviews about it.

Not sure how I missed that you’d already done this (so go right on ignoring my facebook message; must be I searched on “wolftrap” and not “wolf trap”), but I’m pleased to see that you adored the Wolf Trap as much as I did. I rang it up as a 88 without giving any ‘brownie points’ for QPR. If there was some possibility that this wine would lay down for a few years, I can see upping it a point or two, but as much as I wanted to drop the 89 or 90 on this, I couldn’t go that far.

Gary — (friended you on FB a few days ago) — I just had the Wolf Trap last night (didn’t get through you guys, but you’re even cheaper!!!), and wow. Just wow. When I first opened it the nose was berries (the type, I couldn’t tell), rolled in white pepper, but on day 2, it softened to bacon. Finish was a little hot at first, but that softened too. Absolutely a great bottle, I also rated 89.5, and then saw your review, and I feel pretty good that you felt about the same. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

Gary,I have to believe many wines are fake. When I smell or taste obvious vanilla (or is it vanillin) in wine it has become a turnoff. So many low priced wines have this dominant flaw because the actual wine has no character. Hi end wines with this taste(smell)are Silver Oak and Clio to name a couple. Fast food has flavorings to make every restaurant in a chain taste the same, wine seems to be folowing this trend. One thing I used to do to make bad wines drinkable is to blend a low acid, sweet ca. cab. with a high acid, tart Italian wine to sort of end up with a super Tuscan under $8. Thanks for your show Gary, I’m hooked!

I was actually watching youtube.com looking for reviews of Rothschild wine, and was thrown off by the spitting of wine but decided to give the show another chance and I am addicted to it! I love this show. As a person who is just getting started collecting wine, i find the information invaluable. I have told the people at work who sometimes watch the show with me.

Ridiculous man, straight off the hook vidblog. I was beginning to think that I was the only person who enjoyed wine…but that’s cuz I live in a small town in Japan and there’s this old lady…but anyways, much love on this site. Saw the link on WS.com and gotta say haven’t watched much of their videos since. Either cuz I’m watching your vids or referring them to anyone and everyone, bilingually mos def. Hey, let’s change the wine world in as many different languages as possible. Shoot, maybe I’ll do a wine vidblog in Japanese.

Wow, I Have not seen the Argyle sweater since…was it Episode 2 (Pinot Grigio) ?
I know that, as it was the 1st episode I saw, and have been hooked since.
Love the show, and have been drinking most of what you recommend with 80/20 approval percentage.
Cant wait for the Wolftrap to arrive….

QOTD#1 Was recommended by a consultant that works with me, and have told EVERYONE about this
site and they love it. What makes it great is your sense of humor and the love of the Jets..
And most importantly, making Wine not for only the snobbish.

Keep up the good work !!

P.S. Heard on a prior episode u might do a local wine tasting event, but your wife Lizzie is a better planner than you..Get her planning it already, you’ll be surprised of the turnout..I have at least 20-30 new Vayniacs that e-mail me when u have a “cant miss” episode, were there !!

Accidently bumped into WLTV trying to find information about Allegrini Amarone. I’ve been hooked ever since. I emailed my four children about it immediately; as though I discovered another planet!
I have become a desciple for Gary.I usually tell customers and sales people at liquor stores to check out WLTV. You’d think I’m on commission; I guess I am, I did win a T-shirt!!
    Gary rules wine blogs!!

This show needed the Rex Goliath. You can’t beat ‘His Royal Majesty’ for 7 bucks. I’m waiting for their Shiraz to be widely distributed – already good press.

I found out about Wine Library and then Wine Library TV (via the Bertani Amarone ‘watch the video for this product’ link) through ‘WineZap.com’. You had the best price, but the video encouraged me to buy the Allegrini instead (I had tasted a different vintage of the Bertani already) and here ever since, my self-described ‘Dickhead’ friend.

Answer for my QOD: Biggest GV Dickhead moment: “[I'm awarding the prize to the best question: 'How many times have you picked your nose today']“. It was then that I knew who I was dealing with. . .

. . . but you never put me to sleep like those other wine blogs

Gary- I referred myself while looking for a wine on Google, stumbling upon your site inadvertently. Then, my wife Kathy who was a lurker over my shoulder for a few episodes wrote you about the Bob Parker incident at Fieldstone Winery as you may recall? I then referred my son Adrian whose question you recently answered on WLTV regarding flavors and their origins in wine. We are all VaynerROOTING for your continued success with the show as in your life itself…

QOTD Gary I found this website all on my own. I’ve seen the website before you had the blog but it wasn’t until recently I revisited it that I found your blog. It is informative, entertaining and interesting. I told my whole family about it over the holidays. In addition, I told a few co-workers.

Wassup brother Gar? As usual, you had me laughing with some comments and reactions.

1)A co-worker filled me in when your store opened.

2)Anyone who I know is into wine!

First and foremost let’s Go Jets! Have a great time in New England. Hope to see pain on Belichick’s face when he has to shake Mangini’s hand in defeat.

QOD 1 – It was featured on Dan Cedarholm’s blog simplebits. And I also saw the ad on Cork’d.
QOD 2 – My wife and a few of my friends whom we get together with and taste different wines.

  22. January 6, 2007

    Paul

Two things: I like seeing you use the tasting glass and have been considering getting one. You’ve convinced me.

QOD 1 – I’ve been shopping at WL for a long time and buy on-line. Saw the link, watched, got hooked.
QOD 2 – Lots of people, can’t count the number. Some watch and lurk, some don’t. Haven’t seen any I recognize in the comments or forums.

Sorry, my wife told me it was Al Forno and not Grappa that we liked the best.

  24. January 5, 2007

    karl satirev

    (1) Grappa Restaurant in Providence.
    (2) Learned of WLTV via e-mail from your master site.
    (3) Made about 20 recommendations, e.g. my kids, my sister, wine-drinking friends.
    (4) Feedback from these folks is that they would watch more regularly, but recently some of your shows have been a little long. A friendly suggestion is that you keep them about 10 to 12 minutes to hook people as regulars. Otherwise you’ll wear them out and they will go away.

    Many interesting restaurants in Providence:
Al Forno is a ***** … not sure the best value, but very well known
Mill Tavern on South Main I tried about 4 months ago…food was very good and reasonable wine list
Federal Hill has several Italian restaurants if interested .. some have a fairly extensive wine list.
If into French .. try Pot au feu … traditional French food and wine.

I saw some suggestions for Cafe Nuovo and others as well … all of these are either in walking distance or fairly short cab ride from downtown Providence.

Need more suggestions … send me an email … good luck on Sunday! (Although I have to admit ..that free shipping code came in very handy the last time :-)
