Wines tasted in this episode:

Petite Sirah is it the same as Syrah? Is Petite Sirah bigger or smaller then Syrah? Is Petite Sirah the same as Durif? All these questions and more will be answered by a sad Gary Vaynerchuk.

Gary, As someone once said, “it’s time to grab the bull by the tail and face the situation”. I believe you should show the world how magnanimous you are, in both Jets victory and defeat, and offer free shipping. No?, well it was worth a shot.

I drink Burgundy when I’m sad. I’m sad for you Gary. I was pulling for the Jets in Costa Rica. I’m sad too. As a Clemson fan, it’s been a tough year. But, for both of us, next year looks promising. It just feels an awful long ways away.

Hi Gary, The clean shaven somber Gary, great way to start the New Year. Jets had a great season!!!! What do I drink when I am sad? Does it really matter, I lift my glass and toast my famly’s “GOOD HEALTH”.Be grateful for the little things like Vinny Testaverde being a free agent next year.

    Pats All The Way

Tough game, the Jets played well until the lateral and then the wheels came off their bus. Still, they had a great season and should give the Pats a run next year.

I would suggest a Two Hands Bellas Garden, any vintage to lift your spirits. It is a classic shiraz with a nice balance of oak and fruit…

Cheer up and I hope you root for the Pats Sunday–they will need all the help they can get against San Diego. I will probably be drinking a Bella’s Garden Sunday night!!
    :O

    Gary,
I am sorry for your team loss.
You shouldn’ve spit in this episode-that would cheer you up.

I like Petite Sirah. Like you said there’s nothing petit about it!
I completely agree on Marietta. I think it’s just this vintage. I had their wines before and thought they were pretty good, even their blend with numbers, current is 41 I guess.

Concannon makes pretty good Chardonnay as well. I may be wrong but I believe they’re the first company to bottle Petite Sirah as a single varietal.

    QOTD:

It doesn’t matter. The quantity does.

Go for Grey Goose with you uncles!

You seemed so sad I decided to stop being a lurker and come out and tell you how much I enjoyed lurking the last month. I enjoy the bogle petite sirah when I need to be comforted since I know what I will be getting and for the price I can drink a lot. Will be going today to find the Concannon. Get into college basketball it helps the pain of football ending.

    Top 100?

Still better than him coming out naked…

    I don’t drink wine when I am sad – I drink whiskey -

Come on Gary. Cheer up! Its only a football game (well, its not really football anyway, maybe handball, but whatever!) You still have wine to drink, and that will never let you down. The beard also made you look kind of evil, so that can’t be too much of a loss!

dude – let it float away. NYJ are on the right track with the ‘O’ line rookies and a healthy Chad. as we wrote about earlier they find a big RB and they can be contenders each year.

PS – always approachable and rarely inspiring. want a bargain CA PS try Bray from Amador Co. want to spend some money on mouth feel then Broll Mountain from Calaveras Co is a nice choice. i’m too cheap to spend $45 American on PS though you made The Quixote sound appealing.

Wow Gary … I used to be a lurker, but no … this episode is gonna change that really. So sad, another Gary … is petite sirah really that ‘very exciting’ when you are sad? Definitely have to seek that out. Anyway, considering your loss: you did a great job again and remember, there is always another change for next season.
My bottle to feel sad with: a Ripasso Valpolicella (e.g. Zenato). Why? The paradoxical mix of overripe sweetness and rigid structure make it really a melancholy wine. It looks as if it is pondering on its own bygone youth with its almost moldy, sweet rot smell and its dried fruit. To be drunk with Sigur Ros, Tom McCrae or Gustav Mahler!

Common man, keep up the good spirits!

    B…M,
Don’t mean to pick a fight. Its simply that his effort today, well, yesterday, if my watch tells time, was about more than the Jets. He doesn’t require defenders, as spot on as your remarks may be.
Let G express himself and leave it at that. Less commentary is more.

KenP…where was I trying to be his champion?

  19. January 9, 2007

    Brandon M,
Gary can take care of himself. It’s not just about the Jets. Remember Friday’s episode. He’d been hammered by ‘fans’. He’s probably rethinking his work. He’s been extraordinarily generous. Yet, there they are, his celebrants, taking pot shots (not you, of course) at his credibility. To put himself on camera, to do so simple a thing as review wine, invites cruelty. Strange world. You’re not his champion. Let G work it out.

Stop whining, you know they weren’t going all the way. I’m a Jets fan too and it was luck that we got in. That was an awful WLTV episode….It made me sick.

The Jets were holding up so well for the first half, too; unfortunately, it went down hill pretty fast. When I’m bummed, nothing will do except for LOTS OF OLOROSO SHERRY.

    Hope your spirits revive soon.
