My palate must be off tonight, as what I got from the Concannon was something along:

“What this wine is giving me is big jammyness up front, followed by a grape jam mid pallet, as well as grapiness and jammyness.”

I didn’t find even $10 worth of complexity. Then again, I’ll admit, my palate might be off tonight. That would be due to a root canal this morning that I’m still whining about. I’ll wait until the next time to submit a serious review at Corkd.com.

Just tried the Concannon and came back to see how Gary’s assessment matched my own. I actually disagreed slightly on the balance. The wine I had (decanted 2h) still presented a bit of an alcoholic finish, but not offensively so. I think Gary gave the Concannon a bonus point for surprising him. I score the Concannon 88 points, still a great value at the price point.

Let’s move on.

Gary, dude, I am SO SORRY about your Jets. All I can say is that I feel your pain. I am a Browns fan. We have NEVER been to a freakin’ Superbowl! I had to suffer in person through “The Drive” and “The Fumble” and see that jackass John Elway go to Superbowls and lose!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! Then there’s my Indians… Damn Marlins in 1997 – we HAD that one – Damn Marlins!!!!

The pain is real. Anyway, I know you are in mourning, so I admire you even more than ever for doing a show. And if you weren’t “acting”, and I don’t think you were, that was inspiring.

QOD: Oddly, I like to drink a fantastic and expensive bottle of wine when I am very sad. Soon after my dad passed away in 1999, I single-handedly polished off a 1986 Mouton Rothschild. Hang in there!
