So this is how it feels to be near the top?

Not quite the rush I’d hoped for!

How can you possibly consider these retreads new eposodes? The episode numbers may be going up each day, but they shouldn’t be. Wbere is the new content? I appreciate that Gary is doing new intros and all… but come on… the guy is on a much deserved vacation and thus, WLTV is too. Let’s call a spade a spade.

Grrrrrrrrrr … I am working my b*lls off and you’re still out there on the sweaty beach, laden with Piñas and all that stuff. The world is injust. Anyway, make us seeing an ‘all pumped up’, ‘excited’, ‘exploding’ Gary within a few days … ! C ya.

Open Letter to David K (Comment 5):

Aww, c’mon, give Gary a break! He’s merely following the time-honored tradition of running the “Best of” episodes while he’s away. Howard Stern and many other radio broadcasters do it; Leno & Letterman schedule re-runs all the time — and do they get criticized? I think not! At least Gary took the time to announce the ‘best of’ re-runs, with little taped ‘opens’ specific to each “classic” episode.

True, he could have scheduled guest hosts, but (a) imagine the criticism that poor soul would endure from Gary’s loyal Vayns; and (b) I think the idea probably was to give the whole WLTV gang a break from the daily grind.

Also, David, imagine how glum you’d feel if there was just nothing there — nothing day after day, but the list of Favorite Episodes. Again, Gary took the time to create a continuing daily presence, however limited, and I, for one, simply say “Thanks, Gar’ — looking forward to your return, but in the meantime, have a great Vaycaynerchukation!

      Hey GV,

I’ve been reading in the forum that you’re HUGE into the 05 Valrose. Is the the 05 a big tannic monster like some wines from St. Estephe can be? Will I be able to approach it within 10 years?

      Great show!

I never would have looked at that show based on the title, but it speaks to my current study of French wines. Thanks!

      Hope your vacation goes well.

Not that I don’t appreciate them, but I’m beginning to think these “look-back” episodes should not get credit as a “new” episode on the # of episodes count (ie #176)…

It’s like when your looking forward to what you think is a new episode of your favorite TV shows, and it turns out to be one of those clip shows….

I agree on the oficial “count”, but I am glad to see the “Best of…”
version of “Here’s Gaaaaary!” and can’t wait to see you back safe and sound.
Hope you’re having a great time on vacation!

justin, i am not sure but i think the bottle is a leoville poyferre. Maybe gary will taste it in tomorrow’s home away from home episode.

I don’t mind this best of series while Gary is away. I love the fact that today’s episode mentions how he was going to tape some eps before he went to Spain. For those who were not watching then, Gary went on about a 4 week hiatus without a show. This is a much better alternative.

looking forward to the “don’t call it a comeback” Winelibrary TV.

that is not a leoville poyferre label by the way. i just used the labels for the first time and realized i was wrong.

Well I guess “Old Gary” is better then “No Gary”… I haven’t seen the old shows anyway… Now it’s time for a true “Best Of” Episode…you know one where you “Cut and Paste” clips together of interesting and Funny moments…A “Collogue”…

hope you’re chilling out with the family and enjoying what every hard working person deserves.
i continually go back anyway to see what you thought of a particular wine so it’s cool to see which episodes are your favorites.
i remember appreciating your review of the Alto Moncayo after having just returned from Spain. i was a lurker then so a belated “right on”.
also – just had my first Pinot Noir from Central Otago in New Zealand. the 2004 Gypsy Dancer. I’ve purchased wine from four other vineyards in that area since.
      thanks for the tip.

There’s a few ungrateful folks around here. If you all were on vacation, how many times would you report back to work? Me, zip…nada

Thanks for helping change the wine world Gary.
A vin jaune episode would be a nice change, dont think you’ve done 1 of those yet in near 800 episodes
