Erik -

#1 tip:
google up some Priscilla Dunstan and her research into recognizing baby's 5 communicative sounds or words.

#2 tip:
Google up some "baby sign language" too - babies can also learn sign much younger than they can speak, so why not use that natural ability to help her communicate and you AND her will know very little frustration in the area of baby communication needs that first year or two.

I guess facilitating communication is a big deal for me, but I can't see anything else that cuts down on frustration more and a frustrated baby is really sad to see (and hear) but when it can be easily avoided by learning true communication with the baby, it's more than sad really.

Great to have you back Gary!!!!!
Eric.........never mind the books or tips, your wife will do just what your mother-in-law tells her.......and by a coincidence, it will be the opposite of what you (and the rest of the scientific world) would think it's right !!!! Good luck!!!
