Suggestion for London: Guest hosts!!! Have some of the local Vaniacs come by and tape eps. I personally vote for Kahuna, as the comedy factor would be off the charts.

As for the QOTD: It was Connors growing up — loved the intensity and the run at the open in his late 30s was something to behold. Sampras in his prime, was great to watch — and the last of the great serve and volleyers. But nothing compares to watching Federer now — he’s a magician out there. As someone who has played competitive tennis his whole life (juniors, college, USTA leagues now), understanding the level he is playing at — it’s awe inspiring.

And BTW, I don’t think I’ve tried a Gruner Vetliner.

QOTD: Male – John Newcombe from Australia, saw him play in person many times as a kid, met him once and almost got to hit with him once at his resort in Orlando (it started raining). He was a great, gentleman player, loved his serve and volley game. Female: another Aussie, Evonne Goolagong – beautiful, graceful, serve and volley player. I keep waiting for serve and volley to make a comeback. Whoever figures out how to do it well will dominate, just like Sampras.

“holding hands on the beach…and then a shark eats you!”

I’m going to have to use that analogy!

I was surprised at the subject of this episode – nice choice. I’ve had some very nice Gruve’s and always look to them for a food pairing (with fish and fruit especially). The last one I had was awesome – 2001 Sonnhof Jurtschitsch Gruve. Cheers on the episode today!

Good episode, but would have liked at least a mention of the GruV’s in the 10-15$ range that you have liked more than the 2 that you had today.

QOTD? Men – NASTY and Noah. W – Martina and Evonne Goolagong

Gary, After the poor showing today (3 out of 4 Pazzzz’s), you have to do another GruV episode with some value GruV’s tha you like….don’t ya think??

what to do, what to do.. well first things first, you have to bring your cam to London. Must do a show or 2 from the field. I have another idea for while you are gone tho.. why not try some meet the buyer’s eps. No-one can replace GV, but these guys help you out a bunch. Bring them on to introduce their buying regions so we know their areas of expertise.

QOD: there are alot of tennis stars up there but I think the German power duo of Steffi Graf and Boris Becker were amazing in their day. They had their share of the drama too. I mean a stabbing on an international stage like that.. craaazzzzzzzy.

Great GruV episode.. go Austria! Never had one, but I’m glad you highlighted em. THX

    For the Anniversay episode:

Brandon, I was not sure what you meant. Do you mean a reality show of Gary….like a day in the life? Or a montage of the past year….a best of the year?

    alternate idea:
In the very first episode, Gary mentions that the Verite Ja Joie is in the class of Harlan, Bryant, etc. He also mentions a similar comparison of the Togni a few episodes back. How about a BLIND tastingt of ‘02 Harlan, ‘02 Togni, and ‘02 Verite and see if Harlan can break out of that, very magnificent pack….and answer once and for all, if Harlan is worth the money!

Jimmy Mac was one of the great villans of all time, regardless of context. Vader, Bobby Knight, and the Detroilet Pistons still have the edge, but he should be placed in a similar pantheon.

Chrisy Everettt was my all time favorite – I had such a crush on her!

GeneV (post22), are you the same GeneV in yesterday’s posting of Rioja who drank ‘68 Vina Valoria?? If so, you are my wine hero. I am not a lurker, but I want to be adopted by you! You don’t live in SoCal do you?

Lurkers – have GeneV adopt you…..if a no go, I am open.

    Joe

p.s. Gary, are you on Lipitor yet?

p.p.s: Gary, in yesterday’s episode was that your wife Lizzy? If so, next episode, You should have let her introduce herself to us!

    QOTD: I have 2 – Anna Kournikova & Beyonce.

I’ll adopt any lurker who looks like Anna or Beyonce.

I like Brandon’s idea (#26) for the Anniversary Ep.

GruVee is a difficult wine to taste as a stand alone I think, it often comes off as very sour and mineral driven for many people, but with food, INCREDIBLE!

    Yeah…also…why the headphones?

    ChadB

QOTD: Roger Federer, simply the best ever on and off the court.

Anniversary Show: Do a blind tasting with the crew (off camera) and then bring the notes and bottles to the table where you open up the wines and see what you’ve tasted. Also, two words … FREE SHIPPING on any one wine in the Wine Library.

First Gruner was from Nigl–purchased from Wine Library 2-3 years ago. Was very good–thought it was similar to Reisling which is my favorite white. Good show–learned a lot.

Favorite tennis player is John Newcombe, although the days of McEnroe and Borg and Breakfast at Wimbledon were outstanding. I’m dating myself.

Have fun in London–best city in the world.

Agree 100% with Eric S. about Gabrielle Sabatini though all-time my faves have to be Chrissy Evert and Bjorn Borg. I’ll never forget those classic matches with Johnny Mac and Jimmy Connors.

Do an episode from London! You could send it back to Jersey via FTP. That would be the perfect way to celebrate WLTV’s anniversary. The first episode shot from outside the country.

Can’t stop listening to Beyonce and Lionel Richie on your ipod?
