  • Ahoy Gary,

Thanks for the Tweet about this. This is the first time viewing for me. After growing up in Chicago and living 20 years in Maine, I am not in any hurry to see snow anytime soon. 😉

I don’t think you will see snow today in New Orleans. However, they did have snow not too long ago! A weird perfect storm front…

  • I have a weird question – why is the numbered sign in the video a different number than the episode? Just curious. Damn you looked cold. Another nice episode!

  • Denise

    HELLO Gary!

WOW! YOU ARE DEVOTED! You look VERY cold! My question on this episode is…..What are the EXACT characteristics of a Bordeaux?? Are they always blends?

    STAY WARM MY FRIEND!
    Sincerely,

Like most Mollydooker wines, you must like fruit bombs. Was holding a sign in that guys job description..like like one of those idiots holding a sign on the strret when a furniture store is advertising their store liquidation. Not sure how that episode was a great example on weather effecting wine.. QOTD-any snow storm that I got to work at home http://www.winelx.com

  • Wow! I am sure you were out for 2 weeks after this episode!! Or you’re the toughest man on earth… The wind looked pretty bad!! Cheers!

  • Ok, Gary, you are the best! My 9 year old son, Julian, and I were laughing our heads off at this episode–the best part was your dead-pan face as you caught the wine glass as it flew off the “table”. I am about to get my own blog launched into the stratosphere (with the help of your tips in Crush It!) and I only hope to be as entertaining as you…keep on changing the wine world and inspiring us all, Gary!

    Hey Denise,
The wines of Bordeaux are always blends, mostly of Cabernet Sauvingon and Merlot but Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec may also be added.
On the left bank of the Gironde Estuary in St Emillion and Pomerol, the wines mostly are amjority Merlot blends, whereas on the right bank in the Medoc the main grape in the blend tends to be Cab Sauv. The characteristics change depending on the blend. Left Bank -> softer, more opulent, plummy wines from Merlot. Right Bank -> more structured wines, higher tannin and more blackcurrant fruit. General charactersitics people normally flag up are things like cedarwood and cigar box aromas but I think they tend to only develop with age – I associate much more with Gary Vee's disucussion of earthy flavours and stony minerality.
    Hope that helps, A

  • There are a lot of things that can make wine change in taste from year to year. From a great number of pieces of news and interviews of wine producers I listened to found by http://www.mp3hunting.com SE I knew that the weather is a HUGE factor. It can make the grapes sweeter, bitter or more harsh. The soil also changes from year to year, and that too can affect the taste of the wine. But the influence of the weather in the way you demonstrated it’s something!!! You’ve got the best job on earth:)))
