QOTD: $12 wine in last 39 days which brings us to January 12?

Let’s see, I’ve had the Hermit Crab and the Wolf Trap based on your recommendations and must say, the Wolf is the “best buy of the year” for me.

    Great show.

    Cheers!

P.S. There’s a wonderful outdoor venue close to my home where you can take in a play, symphony or concert called Wolf Trap that would do very well to carry it’s namesake.

    Love this episode!
I love good wines for less money!

QOD: In the last 39 I’ve enjoyed:
    1) Rocky Creek Zinfandel
    2) Bitch Grenache
    3) Wall Cabernet
    4) 20 Rows Grappler (Found it on sale…it’s usually $14.00)

    Gary,
QPR heaven. Great to see some vino that would be keeno for el cheapo!
Best 12 bone wine: Wall Cabernet; not as good as 20 rows for $15, but 3 bones less.

Thanks for this episode. I’m going to steal a little of your thunder and use the three recos at a tasting for friends. They’re always asking me for value ideas. Plus these three seem to have their own unique styles that set them apart. Cool.

QOTD – Odfjell Orzada 2001 Carignan from Chile. I believe it’s a blend of 85% Carignan, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 4% Syrah. Plum and leather that kicked butt with a rosemary/garlic encrusted aged New York Strip!

Two wines come to mind at under $12 (roughly $15 Canadian dollars)
2005 Les Lieu-dit Les Pouches Saumur at $14 Cdn, really nice Chenin Blanc
2003 Deen De Bortoli Vat 8 Shiraz (I bought 4 or 5 bottles of this 2 years ago at $14.50 Cdn, still have 2 bottles left).

    Condesa de Leganza Crianza!

    $5.99 at the local Fiesta!

    Can’t beat those Spanish values.

Nice ruby color. Nose has black pepper and red fruits. Good midpalate, good finish.

    One heck of a deal!

    QOTD:
Los Vascos Chardonnay, 2005. Nothing mind blowing but well worth the money. And delivers a lot more than their Cab, at least from my standpoint.

“Everything a new world fruit bomb fan is looking for, and it is very delicious”. That is my kind of wine. Good thing a bought a bottle of the Winner’s Tank earlier this am.

Best $12 wine experience in the last 39 days (?)- Trentadue Petit Sirah.

Craig #22- I like the ‘04 Juan Gil. Licorice wrapped around the fruit…what I would call candied fruit. The ‘02 and ‘03 were both really good if you can find them, they were released around the same time, but may be gone from the market.

QOD: 2005 Alois Lagaeder Pinot Grigio. I actually thought it was better than the Pinot Blanco than WS loved so much

    QOTD:

Reuscher Haart Piesporter Goldtropfchen Kabinett Riesling 2005 is an amazing riesling value. WL had it for $13 but I found it locally for $12.50 (so almost $12).

To throw one it that is not sold out at WL, Chat Pesquie Les Terrasses. 2004 is a CDR on steroids, great value for $11.

For $12 I like Layer Cake shiraz, even though it was panned elsewhere on winelibrary.com.

Wow, the Twelve Buck Chuk is so much better than the Two Buck Chuck!

$10 million ought to be about 8.3 million euros, yes?

Congratulations on breaking the Aglianico Barrier.
