Ok- that’s it- I’m posting from now on, no matter what. I have said that I’m a 21-year-old stuent and restaurant Server/Bartender in Boston, and have gotten into wine over the past 2 years (in part thanks to Gary!) I was so happy with all of the responses on the “introduce yourself” page and the encouragement to post even if I can only do so at about 1AM after work each night, around the 100 post mark. Well, that doesn’t matter, because I watch EVERY episode, am almost caught up on all of the ones I missed before I became an official “Vayniac” (yes, I have my shirt to prove it), and I’m going to post this far down all the time from now on!
That being said, thank you Gary for another enjoyable and informative episode- Chablis deffinitely has a bad name in the U.S. thanks to Mr. Rossi, and I’ll try to seek out an affordable (real) Chablis before we (with a miniscule bit of of Gary) change the Wine World too much and everyone finds out about these values. THANKS AGAIN, BIG G.!

QOTD: I’ve never EVER purchased a US jug Chablis, but I tasted Mr. Rossi’s effort at a friend’s house party once instead of the crappy keg beer there (I guess there are worse things than jug wine!) Basically, it was like Welch’s grape juice (which I like) with way too much acidity and noticeable alcohol (…which I don’t like).

Can someone point me to a guide to grape varieties, regions, and the like? I’m totally confused now about chardonnay, chablis, bordeaux – which is a region, which is a grape…

I don’t recall ever buying a jug or box.. but I’m almost certain I’ve partaken…

Never had a jug of Chablis, but maybe I’ll pick one up with the $$ I save on shipping. Thanks Gary

Nice reviews Gary – I’ve really been enjoy your show; just found it a few days ago.

I’ll admit I never (knowingly) had the California “Chablis” … I did have a 2002 La Chablisienne Mont de Milieu last year that really opened my eyes to these wines. I think Pouilly-Fuisse also can provide some good QPRs.

I guess I missed out on the free shipping, I think my first order shipped this morning!

    I don’t think I have tried a true Chablis
QOTD probably 2 or 3, my Dad is a fan of box wines and big jug wines so I drink a little when I visit.

QOTD: Never had a jug wine. But, if I lose my wife and job and become a drunk … I’d be all over that “chablis.”

I can see that the list of commenters regarding the QOTD falls into two categories:

    Drinkers

    and

    Liars.

I have had PLENTY of those green jugs and am not proud of it, either.

Thanks for the free shipping. I topped off my Chablis cellar.

THE JETs: Will be scratching their heads at the end of the FREE AGENCY period wondering why the Bears scooped all the good players. But I’ll tell you why right- now the Jets are 2-3 years away get used to it. The Bears are now like oxygen.

Gary thanks for the free shipping mucho generous.

Does anyone know if Chablis is not aged in oak? I heard that is was only fermented and aged in steel and then bottled. Is this true?

Too bad Kahuna. No free shipping for you. Gary will carry it to your car!

I love the wines of Chablis. We had a picnic on the hill above “Les Clos” last June.
If I have ever had the “jug” or “box” chablis wine…I don’t remember it. That is probably a good thing.
