Awesome show! I have been following GV for about two months now. Love the show, energy, education, etc. Would love handpicked 2005 futures. Would also love to see some tape of Gary’s visit to Bordeaux. Have fun Gary!

Gary – the eating oatmeal thing should help your cholesterol and I’ve also heard that niacin does as well.

And I think you should do secret stealth shipping to those states that frown on free trade. Initials are PA!!!!

Gary i’m with you on the sewer smell, you have to walk the NYC streets on a clear cold night to get that funk. How bad is the blood fat?

So you’re saying that 2005 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay = the New England Patriots?!?

    BAH!

If you enjoy Parmesan you’ll love Asiago.
Remember it’s not the cholesterol # so much as your LDL HDL ratio.

I would describe your Beaucastel notes as “CLASSIC BEAUCASTEL”. Everyone that I have had I could use some of your same notes in one way or another. I always use barnyard. I think that this comes from the Sheep Poop that they use between the rows to fertilize???

Never have pulled the trigger on any Gaja due to dollars, but for the Beaucastel, I think that they drink best with 12-20+ years bottle age. Post above – Many Beaucastel will last the 21 years you are looking for. If you have the patience to wait this long, I think that you and your kid will have a real treat!!!

Gary- Great oak monster send up, but nothing buyable in the ep. Hey, it happens.

How about a limited edition “Oak Monster” t-shirt! Or “Oak Monster” wine contest.

    Gary…Gary…Gary…

If ya lookin for “classic/big name” Alsace wine, ya got to go with
Zind-Humbrecht or Domaine Weinbach. Ya want “soap-water”, ya go
    with Hugel.

I’d think that free shipping is a double edged sword for you. On one hand you lose money on the shipping, but on the other hand you get more orders. Don’t know if or how it evens out.

QOTD. How about 1/2 or free shipping on the wines tasted on WLTV episodes starting when an episode is posted and ending when the next episode is posted. That means until the next episode is posted, we’d be able to get some kind of shipping deal on the Hugel, Beringer, Gaja and Beaucastel.

OK, so how does the nose on Tribeca sewers differ from Soho or East Village sewers? I hear that Chelsea sewers are particularly piquant this time of year. :)

Jon and Alos both had great ideas. I was also thinking of the 1/2 price shipping when you want to offer a special, but Jon beat me to it. As much as anybody loves free shipping, we know you must be taking a beating on it. I can’t speak for everyone, but I bet most Vayniacs would be willing to meet you halfway. :)
Alos also had a great idea with % off for Vayniacs. The more you order, the more you save kinda deal. That way you can still throw us a bone now and then without having to give away the store. And man, that is one awesome store! I wish we had someplace like that around here.

But the real reason I wanted to post is because I am quite sure I saw Gary do a Hook ‘Em Horns at the end of this episode. I watched it last night and wanted to check again this morning, but I can’t get the video to load now for some reason. But I know what I saw.

I KNEW it! I knew that deep in your heart you are a UT Longhorns fan! :)

    Congrats on reaching 200!!

QOD: what about a discount on the wines, or class of wines, or some variation on the wines being tasted that day? or free shipping on those wines? (love free shipping!!).

  17. March 14, 2007

    stevo

    Right back at you, Hugh.

great as always; the free shipping was used on a mixed case of premiere cru chablis and great sancerres!!! thanks thanks thanks! they are great. As much as I love some of the new world stuff, it is the old world wines; particularly the burgundy region that is where the best are!

I’m mostly a lurker, but I’d like to ask if you think the Patriots are over the top with AFC east dominance?

Why not do a % off so many bottles sort of thing so the more you buy the more you save. Just my two cents. :-)

Gary – Great episode. As far as QOTD for possible free shipping on 2005 Bordeaux futures – too late! I already ordered 4 mixed cases the last time you had freeagency free shipping! Thanks.

    hey stevo, nice gravatar!!

Nice….I have been wanting to check out the 04 Beaucastel. Is this a wine that I could lay down for 20-30 years for my son? He is a 2004 baby.
QOTD – Why don’t you try to have as many lurckers come out next week as the Jets have one superbowls….should be an easy feet to accomplish!

In 1995 while dining oceanside in Bonaire our close friends had a bottle of Gaja Barbaresco(from their restaurant held stash) delivered to our table. This was the wine that made me a believer. That such could be created from the humble grape was astounding. Thanx for bringing back that memory!! Have a great time in France…
