I know this is an OOOOOOOOLD show, but I’m still catching up. Question of the day – what’s the best bargain I’ve gotten. I’d have to say that my favorite steal of a deal is a 10 yr. old Anciano Tempranillo. paid about 10 bucks. would really like to drink it again.

My wife was visiting friends this past week while I was working (and visiting WL). Called one night to ask what she was drinking. She said it was a “really good Chardonnay”. They had been going through multiple bottles this past week. Thinking I could score some hubby points, I asked her what it was, thinking about picking up a few bottles for her.

Her answer… it was the store brand at Trader Joe’s…..

I don’t think I’m going to get her to sample any Barolo’s or Bordeaux’s with me any time soon. I remembered this episode when I talked to her and thought you folks would get a kick.

Loved this episode! Sure glad we live in Sonoma County and get plenty of xlnt Napa / Sonoma wines to drink instead of the Central Valley fruit. That said. There are legions of loyal CS fans that love the stuff and buy the heck out of it.

Picked a bottle of Charles Shaw 2009 Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of 2009 Pinot Grigio. I like them both, but the Pinot is slightly better. Faint nose, decent acidity, and no off flavors. A pleasant quaff for $2 from our friends at Trader Joe’s.
