G is pulling double shifts now!
Speaking of angry palates…this past weekend me and my beautiful wife stopped for some mexican for lunch…there was an item on the menu only available on Saturday & Sunday…Menudo…”a soup with pork & hominy”… SO I ask for a bowl w/2 spoons thinking we would share something new we hadn’t tried before. BIG MISTAKE! See the face G is making down below in episode #182, “How does weather affect wine”? kinda how my face was when they sat that bowl in front of us. If your nor familiar with Menudo…google it. Wish i’da googled it before ordering.

2 x a day I ride the Lovely NJTransit system! WOOOOO! Big up for NJ Transit. hahahaha
this was a nice lunch surprise to find a new ep. kind of makes eating in at my desk just a little bit sweeter. after the 47 sauterne at the S+W off line, i’m really thinking about purchasing some 05 futures. this ep just pushed me a little bit further towards pulling the trigger.. like i need the help.
Mmm…I love nothing more than a Sauterne. I think in the wine world we say “nummy for my tummy.”. Anyway, QOD: I love nothing more than knowing that I’m going to walk my dog at least twice every day. She’s a special girl to me and love taking her on walks, and I think she enjoys them as well.
Wow…short episode today. OK, see you later man.
GO BEARS!!

GV,
You redeemed yourself after the last one. Tried one of the sauternes you recommended before and it was lush. Guess I’ll have to order this one too.
QOTD: Golf, and the other thing you can be lousy at and still have a good time.

This might have been mentioned before, but I could have sworn it was J-Lo that insured her tempestuous buttocks, not Maria.
Anyways, sad to say, despite the dozens of bottles of wine I’ve been drinking in the past few months, I have not yet once tried a Sauterne. I shall remedy that tonight, thanks Gary! =)
QOTD: Hahahah, man, I don’t know how you got this question off with a straight face – what a layup, indeed.

Well, while I love wine and, of course, a double header of WLTV — my 2x a day preference shades closer to Maria’s afore-mentioned ass!

Great shout out to Mr. Cub GV!
QOD: Drink coffee and read the sports section whilst upon the thrown x2…( I usually go with the Suntimes first and Trib. later BTW)
Wow! 2 eps in 1 day!!! I missed this last night.
But c’mon…25 bones for a half bottle??? even if it is a 97 pt-er,
is that really “a steal”???? Maybe if just sufferred thru 7 bottles of 2buck-upchuck.
Still, one day I may have to spring…
QOTD – hug my kids, pet my dog, and kiss my wife!!

Gary, did you plan the second episode all along or did you just decide after tasting six “Bronco Wines 200x blends from Trader Joes, 2, 3 or 4 dollars depending on your region, copyright 2007, all rights reserved, M-O-U-S-E, your mileage may vary” wines, that you needed to taste one more wine in one more bonus episode?
Just curious!

Caught me off guard with the double-shot. Just ordered 6 bottles of this. Love dessert wines in 375’s- perfect for a small glass for 4-6 friends after dinner.
QOTD- Besides the obvious, some things I like to do 2x a day: poop (I know I’m getting my fiber then!) & shower (hopefully in that order).

JohnP,
Quick answer for you. Sauternes is a place in bordeaux, FR where the wine comes from. It is made out of the grapes semillon (mostly) and a little bit of sauvignon blanc. To make sauternes, producers leave the grapes hanging later into fall so that they become infected with botrytis. This is often called “noble rot”.
Ice wine on the other hand is usually made out of riesling in Germany, but you will also see vidal, chardonnay, and cab franc ice wines from other places like Canada or the Finger Lakes. Ice wine is picked when the grapes are frozen. Different places have different rules. The point of freezing the grapes is to get the most concentrated and therefore sweetest juice.
Google/wikipedia sauternes, or botrytis, or ice wine and you will get a much better explanation than i just gave.
