qotd I know that episode is long gone, but how about one on vin jaune's?
  • Interesting episode on value wines in that I have had Viticcio and the Sunday Mountain. My take... I hated the sunday Mountain and I'm a fan of Malborough Sauvignon Blancs.s It was all cat pee to me and not much else. Finish was really short and that was in fact a blessing. The Viticcio makes a great pizza wine unless there are anchovies then it seems a bit unhappy. No anchovies..good combination and a price you can't beat.

I too would love to see an episiode on Virginia Wines because I'm from Virginia and have never had a single one I liked. Maybe GaryVee can reveal a good one.

    Great episode love the bargains!

You should try to get in the store Almira Los Dos. It is a Syrah/Grenach that is a SCREAMING bargain. My friend gave me this, told me it was like 5 bucks, and it was AWESOME!!!!! Would love to see you try it and definitely have it in the store.

  • Yuw, Gary. Great, your rant about labels. Love to hear somebody say that out loud on a punchy ironic way.
QOTD: of course to late for that. But I do have an idea: why not do a show (or more) about the preconceived notions on wine?
    C ya,
    t.

I am going to the finger lakes next weekend. Can anyone reccomend a must visit winery? What is Gary's E-Mail Address, the link does not work?
  • Freddy
gary, i'm gifting wines to a south african friend - how about an episode where you recommend a half case of interesting, balanced, complex wines representative of their terroir, each under $25. don't want the gift to get thrown back in my face...

Little late but QOD. Northern Rhone Syrah. Do the different villages against each other. A Hermitage, Cote Rotie, Crozes, St Joe episode would be GREAT
  • cdavis
I LOVED the Beer Pong reference! You surprise me every episode!
  • Andy
Great show ! How about tasting some Spanish Rioja and share some you knowledge about Tempranillo and wines made of. Thanks for great wine info.
  • Rob B.
    Great episode!!!
I would give people what they want. Give them a pinot episode with a twist:
Try pinots from totally different areas of the world all under 20 bones:
    One from New Zealand: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=28840
    One from France (alsace): http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=9896
    One from Chili: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30982
    One from Canada: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=5073
Even from Germany, that Ian scored a 91: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30555
  • Harold
QOTD: Some suggestions; 1) ice wine, 2) supposedly there are quality box wines out there (I doubt that WL sells them but if you should do maybe you could give one or two a whirl) and 3) rumor has it that spring is here and summer is just around the corner so how a about suggesting some Roses and lighter summer wines to stock up on before the season.
  • Carlitos
    QOTD:
    1. I think the obscure grape should be the theme. How about some Portuguese reds. Certainly not many of us are familiar with their indigenous grapes only found there! I attended a Portuguese wine event on Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised. How about:
    a. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=3208
    b. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29718
    c. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29836
    d. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29935
    e. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30392
    2. Altenatively another blind tasting would also be fun.

    Cheers!
  • Tom T.
Great episode. Will give two of these wines a try for sure.
  • MikeyB
qotd: how about tasting some of those inexpensive spanish reds that supposedly all get 90 point scores?
  • matt FL
South Africa would be a great episode. Just thought I would let you know. Thanks for another interesting episode.
  • thkorent
    Hi Gary,
good idea with the viewers picks.
    How about: Library Code: 4187
    or Library Code: 30097
    or any other Sardinian wine?
  • TR
Interesting comment on the Petit Syrah. It was created by crossing Peloursin and Syrah grapes by Dr. Francios Durif by whose last name it is known in it's native France. The berries are smaller and more tannic than Syrah but are not COMPLETELY unrelated to Syrah.
QOTD- more Italian value wines, me likey. Thanks.
  • KC Dan
Great ep . love the value wines . How about argentina wines ?
