Thanks for the San Francisco shout out.
QOTD: I met a Belgian busker singing and playing guitar in the Beaubourg Plaza at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, spring ‘86. He was strung out and freezing. He played music to keep warm. Brilliant performer. Imagine Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, with a bit of awkward sunlight. I bought him dinner and a bottle of wine at a nearby bistro. Conversation was, well…, he spoke Flemish, refused to speak French. Turns out he’d been a Belgian recording artist years ago, underground records, (meant something then). Pharmaceuticals had undone him. I gave the loser travelling money anyway. Wrong. But felt good. Last I heard, he was back on the charts.

A good QOTD deserves an effort, IMHO.

    Gary,

Great show and if you do a 2008 tour, you have to come south for one of your stops. Maybe Atlanta would be a good site.

    Thanks for WLTV.

Thanks for the chi town shout out. And it’s true; you do look better in person. Gary was the “toast” of the party and, yes, humble. But give him a stool to kneel on and he’ll take the lead and what a lead it was.
SF, you’re in for a treat! And GV we love you.
QOTD: I decided to start my own business and forgo college. I now have 15 employees and run a sucessful company- yea, right choice. Go small business

Funny show, Polly-O is a brand of Italian cheese. I think you meant string cheese. Anyway, please don’t make 2008 your last year. You have such a good thing going and have touched so many people including me.

QOTD – Cooking for people and sharing my passion for wine. All the stress of life is put on hold when there is good food, good company, and good wine.

Easy now folks, Gary asked for some advice and I’m giving him free professional advice, much like he does for us. We need softboxes not haters like KenP on winelibrarytv. Watch the episode again and note Gary mentioning how people in Chicago thought he looked better in person than on screen. That’s not a good thing, so I gave him a quick tip, I’m not trashing the content of the show in anyway, just a few asthetics. Carry on, cheers!

Thanks, Gary, for another great episode. Interesting whites, and I appreciate your honesty about the Syrah. QOD: Passing my boards.

I didn’t know you were from Arkansas Gary??

It’s so much fun when you’re fired up and especially when you hate one of the wines, priceless!!!

QOTD: I know I wasn’t supposed to go into family, but when we had our first child and I looked into her eyes it simply changed my life. She has made me want to be a better person every day.

Thanks for the shout out to Chi-town GV!

PS. When is Dick Vermeil coming????? ;)

QOTD: It felt right when I had decided on a career path. I found that I had a real desire to help people and knack for being able to talk to anybody…lead me into the healthcare field! (and if this ever gets old, I have many other ideas!)

Gary – Great show. Great energy. Bad lighting???? Powder what??? May not be a bad idea from Dublin, afterall… 1st two sound intriguing…may have to add ‘em to my cart which overfloweth…My wife already cut up my Amex! Great to hear about the WLTV tour in ‘08 cause I don’t think I can make the NYC ‘official’ party June 28th.

QOTD – Looking back on things, aside from asking my wife to marry me, getting thru all of my ten years of medical training and then using the acquired skills to help people for the past ten years has always felt just right. That … and being a devout Lombardi and Packer fan!

I kinda like certain Raid products. Was the syrah more like the flying insect killer, yard bomb, or the ant poison variety? My decision to buy hangs in the balance

Irrespective of how good looking you are, you (or Lizzy) deserve credit for the nice shirt that appears to be immaculately pressed. ZZTop was right about a sharp dressed man.

Ooh! I want to try that Black Bart’s Bride wine, if for no other reason than it has the name Black Bart on it. Sounds delish.
YOU ARE NOT UG ON SCREEN! You’re adorable!
QOTD: Sitting at a dinner table full of family and/or friends; taking a long walk on my family’s property; and interviewing people.

    Hi Gary,

The video came on a little late today and I was worried I wouldn’t have WLTV today… I’m relieved now. Just kidding. In reality, we are just regular guys like you who love wine, and at least for myself, I’m not at the point where I can’t function regularly M-F without WLTV – but I am glad it came afterall!

    QOTD:

There are a few decisions I’ve made in my life that have been great decisions that feel good. Excluding family etc., I would have to say deciding to invite God into my life has to be the best decision I’ve ever made.

And for a more recent decision, my fiancee and I recently made a commitment to serve in the High School youth group at church. I feel humbled and honored to have the opportunity to invest in the lives of young people, that they might become the great men of tomorrow.

This answer might have come in from left field, but hey… I’m a real person, and you’re real… WLTV is real, and WINE is real!

In appreciation of your authenticity, I felt compeled to share this with you today.

    We love you Gary,

QOTD: Staying up all night with a few friends to explore the ancient rock dwellings in the Sassi, Matera, Italy, with a 2 AAA Mini Maglight to guide the way. Then climbing down the ravine, crossing the river, getting soaked up to our waists, and up the other side to see the sunrise. This was a year ago in March and I swear i didn’t make any of it up.

Wow, good one Gary. Except for maybe that little lip slip. Anyhoo, Yeah, I’m still searching for that so right thing. My career is still a work in progress and maybe when I finally get that right, I’ll have it. There is doing right by you and knowing what’s good in this world like Wine. Yeah, there you go. That’s my answer. Oh, and I look forward to seeing you in 2008 in the City of Angels. : )

    Dublin,
Lighting on WLTV is what it is. Has served GV well. ‘Soft boxes? We don’t need no stinkin’ soft boxes!’

Gary, I might be able to help you out a bit with the response you got in Chicago about you looking better in person. I work in the film industry here in La La Land, went to film school blah blah blah. The lighting on your show is terrible. You’re basically lit from above by nasty fluorescent lights which castes some pretty bad shadows on your eyes. That is one place you don’t want shadows dropping unless you are going for the evil sinister look. So, I advise you to invest in some lights, soft boxes to be a bit more specific. Maybe one, two would be better, coming from each side. And then off a bit get a tweenie to light the glass from above when you show us the coloring of the wine. Then of coarse if you want to throw on a touch of powder before you go on that would help with any unsightly sheens happening on the nose or forehead. I’ll be at the San Fran party; we go into more detail then. Good show, great energy, love it!

    Cheers!
QOTD: Getting more involved in photography vs. the evil film industry.

QOTD: Marrying my sibling??? As right as that?!?

Earlier in my career, I came across a gentleman who worked on one of my manufacturing lines – good employee but he was messing up consistently in a couple of areas. I found out later that he could not read. He was 63. I helped him get into an adult reading program.

QOTD: To me ….way too many things to list that would feel better than marrying a sibling
