QOTD: I’m switchin it up on you… I didn’t particularly like my 5th grade teacher… she suspended me for swearing… not showin a whole lot of love for her STILL. And it was some dude that was SUPPOSED to be my friend narc’d me for brownie points… My first and 3/4 grade teachers were awesome though, big shout outs to Mr Gutowski and Mrs Klee from Isbister Elementary! You guys definitely had a major part in starting me on the way to were I am today. Thanks a ton!

Great ep again today gary as usual. I gotta catch up on some of these from last week…

QOTD: Mr. Moser – Wiley Elementary School – Utica, MI.

Great guy, probably my best elementary teacher, used to get so pissed at us he would shove his fist in his mouth to ‘bite his lip’. I always laughed inside – outside would get you scolded.

The poor college student should try the Hahn Meritage for a few more $. It really is a nice wine and is a TRUE Meritage since it is composed of Bordeaux varietals – hint, hintâ?¦

QOTD: Mr. McDonald â?? he reminded me of Dr. Spock because he had pointy ears and a sharp & pointy nose. He was an OK teacher but had a Jekyll & Hyde attitude toward me because I could beat him in just about any sport. I think he made me pay for that.

    CK here!

QOTD: Ms. Ward…now known as Mrs. English. She got married once I was on 7th grade. Very cool teacher. My favorite teacher has to have been my 9th grade Honors English teacher Mrs. Chadwell. Instead of pushing pencils like the rest of the kids in my grade, we were sipping tea and reading poetry. Good times!

QOTD: Mr. Hall. He had a good list and a bad list on the chalkboard (based on behavior & work completion). At the end of the week the good kids got to go with him on a field trip to hike Mt. Rainier. I’m sure it was fun… I couldn’t tell you from experience, though. 🙂

QOTD: Mr. Manitzis. What is it with great 5th grade teachers? He was awesome! Little tricks for remembering or controlling behavior I remember still to this day! He taught both of my older sisters as well.

Great show. Hope your sister enjoys every moment of the attention and kudos her talent and competence have earned her!

  • QOTD: Mrs. Mann–though if I recall, she split midway through the year due to a mental breakdown (our class was freakin’ ruthless).

QOTD: Miss Ola Tenney. It was 1960 and the most lasting influence
from her was the short story “A Message To Garcia.” I’ve used that
so many times with my children, they’ve come to dislike poor old
    Miss Tenney.

    Vayner,
Heard your interview on NPR today! A link for all the vaniacs here
How about a dessert wine episode? Maybe a tasting of the Yalumba Museum Muscat, that wine is off the hook! Also, how about a Chianti dessert wine? Just had my first the other night, I just about died from the flavor explosion.

CK. Marist College. 22. Graduate in May!

The Languedoc-Roussillon wine I had this weekend were extremely disappointing. They had fake noses, and the La Granacha which was highly rated was also a let down. The wine of this night was the Pindar Pythagoras–it was a citrus fruit party!

Good show. Being the Syrah lover that I am, I am really tempted to pick up some of the Eric Kent to put away for a rainy year. Unfortunately, in the midst of a SIWBM, so I can’t do it. (Two kids in college, one in private HS, very little discretionary income).

QOTD – I will NEVER forget my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Graham, requiscat in pace. She, maybe more than any other teacher except my 1st grade teacher Mrs. Keehn, was responsible for making me what I am today. She saw the potential inside me and reached down and pulled it out. I don’t know how I would have ended up without her influence. She was one of the great blessings of my life and one of those people whom no doubt received the accolade, “well done, good and faithful servant” when she stood before her creator at the end of her life.
