    H-Why,
There is a live version of that song from the ‘Secret Policeman’s Other Ball’, a concert, back in the eighties, for Amnesty International, (I think), that Rocks! ‘Message In A Bottle’ is also performed. Just Sting and a guitar.

QOTD – Sting with the Police singing “Roxanne.”

    QoD – Fountain Pens.

There is nothing like writing with a good fountain pen. It glides effortlessly over the paper, it provides subtle expression to the writing.

Nero Wolfe novels, RBI Baseball and Ninja Gaiden for the NES.

QOTD – The back of the hand. Lenny Dykstra. The Different Strokes Theme Song. Transformers but they are not really old skool anymore. Mr. T.

Love the show. I’ve had the pleasure of the 90 Suduiraut Sauternes unfortunately. I’d tend to agree with parker on this one. The nose was splendid and I agree with your notes. However when it came to taste, it was a bit too cognacy for my palate. I agree with the brown sugar, mango, but it felt unbalanced with an overly strong alcohol mouth feel, it almost burned. I gave it the 86.

Why don’t you open two bottles of each so if you can make sure it isn’t bottle variation that is causing a wine to show poorly? Isn’t that what a pro taster would do?

Dude — pickles, skunk, sardines and green beans? I think you may have lost it. I think I’d dump it.

QOTD: Old school technology/computer stuff. Vic-20 Radar Rat Race, Atari 2600, programming on an Apple 2e…

Old School music. They rarely make good stuff anymore.

qotd: binaca. what ever happened to that stuff? and of course i gotta go with the run dmc crowd – my 3 year old knows all the words to “it’s tricky.” i know i know some of that she probably shouldn’t know…

QOTD: How about old school work ethics. You showed up on time, you worked the number of hours you were obligated, you agreed to what you had contracted to be paid and your employer rewarded you for performance, not mediocrity. I can go on and on…you won awards and trophies for exceeding expectations, not for just participating. I’ll stop now because I might be showing my age. Gen X, Y you’re soft.

    Ciao

I don’t think I ever heard you talk about Jersey trash, skunk, or green beans as a flavor. McEnroe-Borg…classic tennis matches. Love the comparison!

QOTD – cooking. Old skool (BTW you should have spelled school with a “k’) style. For example – Cast iron pan. Sear it. Pan sauce. Eat. When done right simplicity is king.

Coffee ice cream rocks. Starbucks with chocolate chips is may favorite.

    W.I.N.E. wine wine wine!

Great show Gary! QOTD: You alluded to it earlier, Johnny Mac and Bjorn Bord rivalary!

Liked the emphasis on old world for a change. I appreicate both, but I prefer the earthiness over the fruit bombs.

    Regards,

    Ken B.

Great episode. Your list looks like it could have come from one of my orders.

Your review on the Fronholz is very similar to mine.

Couldn’t agree with you more about visiting Burgundy. One of the great two weeks of my life was Burgundy in 1986. Back when you could still afford them.

    Great selections.

Enjoyed the episode thoroughly. I also love red radish!

First? Whoa, just missed it. But a solid episode eases my disappoointment. QOTD – Bell bottoms from the late ’60’s & real Army surplus stuff from WWII and Korea. Loved those cotton fatigues. (of course, hated them when the Army gave them to me for ‘free.’

QOTD: My favorite old school thing is old 35mm cameras, particularly rangefinders. I have two Konica Auto S2s, a Canonet QL 17, and a Minolta SRT 102 (slr, not a rangefinder). I try to use them all at least once in a while. The Canonet traveled through Europe with me next to my Digital SLR.

QOTD: The old skool wine is easy Chateauneuf. Especially Boisrenard, who wouldn’t right. Foodwise though SUSHI. Now some may read this and think about the new wave sushi crap spreading like wild fire all over the country, but after working for a while in Japan having real deal traditional style sushi (or for that matter going full tilt and allowing omikase)there is nothing more hip and old school at the same time. Great show G-Man, way to throw down.

Love coffee ice cream. LOVE IT!
Thanks for the “old school” wine tasting.
QOTD: Saturday morning cartoon & cereal routine.
Or Incredible Hulk & Dukes of Hazzard night. Wasn’t Wonder Woman on that night too? My mother used to tie a blanket around my neck and I’d spin in circles with her purse in my hand.

Good show, I’ve been drinking old world wines lately, so it was a timely episode. I must admit, I have grown to prefer the fruit bombs, these old guys don’t do it for me anymore.

QOTD: The smell of a baseball field (grass, dirt, sweat and glory).
