QOTD: A properly-aged vintage port. I'm talking to people already trying to drink the 2003's. Ugh. Let's all kick back, stick the bottles in the cellar, and give these bad boys some good old-fashioned time. I'll taste 'em with you in 20 years.

Are you kidding? I love rieslings. I want to buy cases of JJ Prum and Dr Loosen Rieslings and drink myself silly. Lemonade at its finest? Count me in. The Groffier Bonnes Mares is a little pricey for me for a red right now, but something to think about when my pallete develops. That Sauternes sounds like a dream. I own a bottle of d'Yquem, and now knowing why the color of it is light, I figure now I'll have to wait some time to open it. Im sure it will be well worth the wait, though. QOTD: Jazz. Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, and John Coltrane just to name a few. Classic kick-ass music. Bitches Brew and A Love Supreme? That's bringing the thunder.

I'm with exdamnyankee. My old school favourite is driving classic roadsters. British roadsters from the late 50s and 60s in my case.

BTW, I *love* old botrytis Semillons. I'm surprised by the price of the Suduiraut given we seem to be stung *really* badly for Sauternes. Luckily we have a lot of pretty good domestic wines in this style.

Not sure if you're ever gonna get this Gary, but wanted to compliment you on a great episode. Love the old world stuff as well as the new world. It's a great time to be into wine, isn't it?

ALMOST HALFWAY THERE! Starting from episode 1 a couple of months ago, I made it this far. By summer time I'll be up to date!

QOTD: I am seriously into old school sports cars, always have been. My daily driver is a '74 Datsun Z, there's a '69 Triumph in my garage totally disassembled and undergoing restoration. Always looking for the next one
;-) . The "old skool" rides have a style, personality and soul I think is lacking in modern iron.

I don’t know much about wine, but you contradicted one of the few things I thought I knew. You said all Burgundy reds are pinot noir. I thought many of them were gamay. I’m guessing you don’t categorize Beaujolais as Burgundy. The store I use doesn’t have a Beaujolais section. I’ve always assumed the Burgundy section included the Beaujolais. They’re combined on a web site I use.

Hi Gary,

Just discovered WLTV after the Cork'd news, and I'm loving it.

As a complete newb, I did not know that Burgundy & Pinot Noir were (sort-of) the same thing. Thanks for the headsup!

I first had Pinot Noir in Switzerland in the late 90's - I think it was from Neuchatel. Man, it was great. I prefer dry wines, and the Pinot Noir was my first taste of what you guys call Old World wines. Very nice.

Rock on,

QOTD: Coffee and Cigarettes. You can't smoke anywhere anymore and it's so hard to sit down and enjoy two things that were meant to be together.
