Woohoo! Looks like Parker upgraded my 2005 Haut Bergey Rouge I bought from you a few months back from a 91-93 to a 92-94! Also looks like you upgraded your price. ;-) However, at the top of winelibrary.com it still says it’s under $27, but when you click on it, it says $30. You guys were quick to update that review, nice! Any more to update? I suppose I could spend the $100/year to read it all on his website… but I can get some futures for that money instead!

    Bordeaux!!
I have to say, Bordeaux is one of my favorites, but, but
when you went to this region there were only about ten
percent you really liked, if I remember correctly?

Just came back yesterday from Ireland. Wine they don’t
seem to have, but Guinness, well…. I don’t like Guinness
here but just like wine, it’s fantastic where it is made,
but is not licensed in America. Only had one glass of wine
    and it was, maybe OK.

Oh yes, great episode. Would like to see at least one episode per month which presents ‘best kept secret’ bordeauxs.

Didn’t make top 10 today, had to call my mom.

QOTD: Me, myself and I. Although, it’s more entertaining with an audience. So I guess on second thought, everyone!

    GV,
Happy Birthday to your Mom! Nice episode. I am still so enamored with Australia, California and Italy that I don’t drink much Bordeaux.
QOTD: My buddies Lee and Peter: they appreciate good when, especially when I’m pouring!

    Hey GV!
It’s really interesting what you say about developing palates beings drawn to old world style wines…I can see my palate starting to like the dirty veggie flavors…weird…
QotD – My boss and soon to be father in law; Joe. We talk about wines, business, family and life…we talk about spirits, food, events, everything….just an amazing guy. I’m really blessed that he’s not only family, but a friend and the best wine buddy I have.

    Gotta love the Bordeaux’s.
QOTD: My wife and wine friend Darin. Just last night we opened a Kistler 2004 Vine Hill and a 2001 Silver Oak Napa Cab. WOW, what a night that was! No one else I know would be into poppin bottles like that every once in a while.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOTHER V! Geez, did you ever think you would make it to 118? I’s sure Gary makes you feel much younger than the age he posted on the board.

QOTD: I’m not fussy; sometimes it’s with our dog, Casey.

Speaking of dogs, I felt like one when I jumped in with the #3 comment above. More than one person has posted about how it’s silly to shoot for top 10’s, but I couldn’t help myself just like my Casey going after a thrown ball.

Nice ep, GV. I sadly am a new world wine whore who regrets not buying more Euro wines instead of the voluptuous Aussie shiraz and Cali petites/zins I usually fall for. Went out last week with friends and one of them brought a 1999 Lynch Bages that was wonderful with the food. The moral of the story is the same with your 2001 Ferrier above: well-made Bordeaux beats overpriced Cali cab most of the time and great Bordeaux values can be found in “off” vintages. And if everyone out there wants to reply to this with a “no duh,” I understand.

Why didnt you start with the 2000’s first? I thought that is what you wine geeks/nerds did start with the oldest vintages?
