Good job- GARYV- Except the fact the you now are disturbingly large on my screen- Sort of look like the Paul Bearer. See how old school you are!

Glad I ordered the Elderton Command before you did this- not that I know what you scored it at yet- the 02 was awesome

Like the pink. Took time to find space where I could post comments. Nice choice on the two Aussie’s. Kangarilla Road seems to be everywhere like a mini cooper.

Gary, Dan Cederholm, Erik Kastner, John K., Chris Mott – and everyone else involved: This new design is off the hook! Nicely done. Keep up the great WLTV!

    Gary,

I have to admit I was a bit concerned when I loaded the page and rec’d the “away” message. But wow! Nice upgrade! Similarly concerned about the archives but I see I can continue on my quest of viewing 130-170 and completing the cycle(albeit by date rather than page). Only gripe, and it’s not a biggie, is the comments are no longer numbered (which may hinder intereaction between viewers). However, the larger picture is obnoxious and more than makes up for it.

    P.S. – liked the Benatar better(I’m old).

P.S. – I for one don’t like nuts in my mouth!

QoD: Honestly wasn’t feelin’ the episode…the new view was cool but i felt like saying “sell out” maybe the music plug…? AAnd you GV were “off” not sure why…Not that I don’t appreciate you and all your efforts, I am interested to see where this goes but I have my doubts…don’t sell out please it’s why I like you! Anyone else think the same…?

The new look looks larger than life. Next thing we’ll notice is that you’ll be wearing make-up. Hope it doesn’t look like it was put on by a 9 year old girl.

QOTD: I like the new look. Having the song at the end reminds me of when they shortened Captain Kangaroo’s show after he had his heart attack, and tacked a music video or two on the end of the show to make it go for an hour. Usually something by Menudo or Lionel Richie. Maybe that was a local thing they did… anyway. Good ep!

  27. May 11, 2007

    Boston Ben

I dig the Cork’d integration! I actually switched windows from Cork’d to WLTV and thought I was suffering from minor delusions or major technical difficulties.

As for the Elderton…. MILK on the nose?! What’s next – generic wine moustache ad campaigns?

Pretty sweet new setup here. Like how its all linked in with cork’d. You are changing the wine world my friend. WLTV crew did a nice job with this.

QOTD: Whoa! You’re huge! I really like the new look. I like the digg, cork’d, twitter, and viddler integration as well. Very nice.

So far, the only problem I’m seeing is that the left-most column of the spreadsheet is partially cut off.

I posted a story on the show in digg.com, but I haven’t used digg very much, so I’m not really sure if I did it correctly. I haven’t signed up for viddler yet, but I’ll do that soon and then test that feature as well.

By the way, CAN WE GET THAT DAMN BERINGER WHITE MERLOT OFF OF THE FREAKING RECOMMENDED LIST ON CORK’D, OR NOT???

  32. May 11, 2007

    GlassRunnethEmpty

Great color, but the layout seems a little disjointed at the moment using Firefox. Maybe it’s a little young, and needs to be layed down for awhile. I’ll give it some time. (looks awesome in IE, however, but not enough to make me switch to IE…)

I’m digging the wide screen TV, but where’s the surround sound? You almost splashed me with the white wine…I actually ducked! That was cool…nice color in that wine!

I hope the cork integration means that all the wines of WLTV will soon be in the cork’d database….cuz as we all know, data is power….with that and an import feature, you’ll soon own the eWine world.

    Rock on!

    JavaMonkey

Are you guys seeing the same thing I am? On Firefox, everything is all out of alignment. The site literally looks disjointed (ha ha). Plus, why would you link to wines in cork’d? There’s so little information there compared to CellarTracker. I give the new look a PAZZZZZ.

    Gary,
are you sure you wouldn’t have bashed the Elderton Command if you didn’t know RP score? I am not polemic, it’s just that it seems you don’t like oak monsters as RP does (and I agree with you). Why then did you give it a 90?

I like the new WLTV look. Good job to all WL staff!

Nuts in your mouth? Are you freaking kidding me! I guess nothing you do should surprise me. What’s the song all about, maybe I missed something. I really like the new look here, I haven’t checked it out yet, but hopefully you made looking through the archive episodes easier. I also very much like the larger screen, though with the smaller one I could see more of the other information and comments without having to scroll down. Is it just me or is the sound quality alot higher?

  59. May 12, 2007

    luvgrapesqeezings

The new digs are phat!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way, you can really show the color of wine really well now. I had the ‘05 Sincerely several days ago, and the color of it on screen exactly matches what I had. The scale and lighting is significantly better now. Kudos GV and crew.

  60. May 12, 2007

    Michael H

Long time lurker. Thought I would get in on the mix now that you have the new digs. I like the new format — it really highlights the color of the wine on the video and there are many cool options & links now on the entire page. Had the ‘02 Elderton Command a few days ago and it was awesome — plush dark fruit with a great, long finish. Keep up the great work Gary!

  61. May 12, 2007

    CindyW

A bit askew (on Firefox), but I love the larger sized viewscreen. I can actually see your face, Gary! Woohoo! :)

It still needs a bit of tweaking, I think, but overall its a positive change.

  62. May 12, 2007

    Trish da' Dish

Gary, I like the new WLTV layout. It makes sense to use up as much of the screen as you can. Your super-sized video played as fast as usual–it did not “hang up” and have loading issues, as usually happens when I try to watch large movies on my rather slow-processored Mac.

Mac Users Beware: The compatibility issue noted by JavaMonkey, regarding the Mac Firefox browser, is real. In order to see ALL of the new show’s format, I had to shut down my Firefox and open WLTV up using Safari. You probably will want to state this information upfront somewhere on your site, so that your Mac users don’t waste their time and then throw hissy-fits…

  63. May 12, 2007

    jonomck

Gary, c’mon, fergetaboutit, dis is the bess stuff effah!

  64. May 12, 2007

    jonomck

Oh, BTW, what happened to the forum link! let alone the library link? At least the forum link should be front and center?

  65. May 12, 2007

    Trish da' Dish

OK, I now have egg on my face. Gary e-mailed, “Refresh,” and it worked like magic. So, no incompatibility issue with Firefox, but still, I think that a note on the website, such as, “Having trouble viewing this video? Hit your refresh button. If that doesn’t work, then……(fill in the blank).”

  66. May 12, 2007

    spautz

Honestly, I don’t see what the big deal is…. A slightly larger video, some new colors, and new names for a few links — to me it’s no different than putting a new label on a wine bottle: it looks a bit different, but the overall experience is the same. It’s the same delicious juice, just wrapped up differently — and we don’t drink the label. ;-)

Although this isn’t really a complaint, I am curious about why you chose to provide Cork’d links at the exclusion of CellarTracker (and all other services). Is this just personal preference? Do you have some secret history with CellarTracker? Is there some sort of deal going on in the shadows?

  67. May 12, 2007

    yoshi

I like the new set up and larger screen.

  68. May 12, 2007

    barclay loftus

Nice. I dig the new video size… I had been sticking with viewing the quicktime version, just so I could resize it on playback.

So what’s the story about the layout though? It looks nice and all, but is this just a flattery thing with cork’d, or are you guys hooking up, or what?

  69. May 12, 2007

    Chris S.

    Nice new page….

My Safari doesn’t seem to like it though….er, jumbled

    Firefox agrees with it.

the new design is nice but looks like too much other »wordpress« or »movable type« sites do today, for example »cork’d«. i give it a pass. sorry for that. nevertheless i like the tv. it is still fresh but complex. like a good claret.

Awesome new look GV Really like the larger screen .. Keep it up .

  72. May 12, 2007

    YoungDave

QOTD: I love the bigger viewing window (who wouldn’t want a bigger view of Big G.)
BUT I have to say that the alignment is a little off– the window is aligned to the right, but the heading is on the left, and it isn’t as organized to the eye as the last setup, but this could definitely just be my browser (mozilla firefox).

I’m sure any minor kinks will be worked out, and it’s great to have you back!

  73. May 12, 2007

    cruster

I just love the new look of the site. Dan Cederholm made a great great job creating this design. The integration with Cork’d and Twitter is really cool as well. Well, WLTV is now part of Wine 2.0, there’s no doubt about it :)

    Hey Gary V
Love the new viewing window but like YoungDave above commented when using Mozilla Firefox as I do, the site is mis-aligned. I opened it in MSE and it looks killer and I like the integration with Corked. I am sure the issues with Mozilla are just a programming fix, i.e. the way layers used to screw up in Netscape back in the day.

    Have a good weekend.

Gary, I watch WineLibrary TV every day for your enthusiasm and positive, playful attitude toward wine. This is also reflected in your openness towards using new technology to upgrade our WineLibrary TV experience! I like the new website and love the unintentiional 3-D aspect of friday’s show – the wine spilling onto my laptop, the wristband bumping off my screen etc LOL.

WineLibrary TV is only 242 votes out of first place for favorite blog at LocalWineEvent.com! Let’s make our favorite wine blog #1 http://www.localwineevents.com/blogs/blog_list.php

If anyone has extra time, they can also vote for my blog, too (don’t worry, I’m plenty of votes behind Gary’s) http://www.localwineevents.com/Blogs/blog-233.html)

Not into the song. Don’t want to be a meanie, but the word “sellout” comes to mine.

Everyone loves WineLibraryTV cause it’s raw and real.

It’s kinda like that fantastic TV show in it’s first year, people are having parties around it, then the network get’s greedy and the magic’s gone.

Love the new Diggs Gary! Very Web 2.0 (maybe 2.4ish). Couple suggestions:

    1) Easily accessible “comment” link on the front page.

    2) I liked the links to WL homepage and WLTV Forum at the top of the old page, maybe move those to the top.

    Great job as always!

Being that I am usually a creature of habit I was initially thrown off by the look of this place and it upset me a little. I also don’t know if I am the biggest fan of the cork’d background for some reason the white did it for me. BUT of course Gary is the man so I’m staying for sure.

PLEASE HAVE MAYNARD JAMES KENAAN ON WLTV!!!!!!

  95. May 12, 2007

    Dr. Dan

Pretty digs. I like the larger video image, but it’s a coarser image. Regarding the Bordeaux episodes, they were really interesting (although not as high energy as the studio segments), but the audio was so quiet that I couldn’t really hear any dialog well. That was a big disappointment for me. The wine blending was cool, and could really be fun.

    Gary,

    Great show.

It seems that there are a tone of savignon blancs @ the 87-91 level. I’d love to see you pull out a 98 point savignon blanc (I’ve never seen one)

QOTD: It’s great to have the WLTV/CORK’d/Twitter content so well integrated.

I like the larger video, but on Safari there are a few things out of alignment.
Not sure I understand why we’re on cork’d now, but what do I know.

    Gary,
I agree with Atreyu – your description of the Elderton did not seem like it warranted a 90. With all the oak, milk, milk and how about some more milk, it’s like the old lady in the commercials years ago: “Where’s the beef (fruit)?” QOTD: The new look is certainly slick. Can’t say that I’m into the Diggs, Twitters, Tags, etc. Guess I’m more about the basics.

BIG thanks to the WLTV crew. LOVE the organization of TV archives by month and by subject! Very cool!

    Great new look G!
I will be watching the episode on the plane home :)

Cool look, disturbingly like the cork’d homepage?!

I like the new look…and the larger video is great too! Thanks for all the work.

I like the larger view but I’m not so enthusiastic about the “generic” blog template. I’m sure there are a load of advantages with the new platform or you wouldn’t have switched. Content is King and that part is still consistently good. So when are you going to add some display ads? The media buyer in me wants to a hook into your audience.

I like the new site and it pushed me over to Cork’d which I had not found yet. I like the new larger video but like others I had a bit of a hard time finding the forums links at the bottom of the page. All in all damn nice. :-) Thanks and keep up the great content.

LOVE how BIG the video is!!! I don’t use corked much cuz they don’t have as many reviews as cellertracker but maybe it’s just not as established. Honestly I don’t get the song, why it’s here and it’s kind of “fake fruit” to my ears. Over all though great new look!

Like the new Digs, I really didn’t think the image looked grainy at all.
Thanks for answering my Twitter question. I have been on the fence about the 2005 Bordeauxs because I have been viewing them as long agers but for intermediate aging many of the ones you showed in your videos might just be great.

I like the new page. Very clean and classy looking. The video size is an improvement too. Up close and personal with Gary VAY – NER – CHUK.

So THAT’S what you were working on while not doing anything with your Cork’d profile, I get it now. Awesome new look, I’m a huge Cork’d fan. Way to go GV and crew.

I’ve been using cork’d for a while now and am on it every day. Nice to see you hook up. Lovin’ you giant head on the screen! Keep it up.

Spectacular new look. Very clean and love the pastel color on the background.
WLTV went from 94 to 97pts!

Loved the super sized screen…it was about time. I do agree with another comment – that you were a little off today. Seemed like there was something else on the mind.

Reminds me of corked but one thing that I did not find was the Terroir Blog link. Where did you put it? You can skip the muic – don’t go Hollywood on us.

Keep up the good work, Gary. Diggin’ on the new technology integration and new look. You’re a wine revolutionary, my friend.

Has anyone figured out why some posters names are blue while the vast majority are black? I guess I’m green…… check that, the determining factor is a website link….. let’s see

Dude, whats up with the statement “everyone likes nuts in their mouth on the finish”. And then the 9 year old girl thing…youre starting to scare me bro!

    Iron Man

QOTD Gary, looks pro, man. Are you no longer small time? Hanging out at chateaus, drinking not released bordeaux productions, new diggs, larger screen, and now even theme music??

Props Gary, to quote George Will, “Sweeeeeeet.”

Okay, so I made my joke comment; now to be serious. QOTD answer:

Like the new look, like the Viddler on the more recent episodes (how far back did you start using Viddler, btw?). This is probably the first time I’ve seen integration between Web 2.0-style sites on this level; maybe we should call that interoperability Web 2.5.

Loving WLTV, loving GV’s reviews, may be looking to make my first WL purchase soon.

“Who doesn’t like some nice nuts in their mouth on the finish…” Really? Are you kidding? That’s gotta be the WLTV quote of the year.

Just heard about you for the first time thanks to Tony V and his lovely emails. Enjoyed watching u Gary! & will be watching from the UK regularly (as in when you remember to tape your WLTVs!) :o )

Yuw, pity for the Elderton. Had a Command 1998 few weeks ago and it was indeed obnoxious: superb balance, bright fruit, good structure, sublime elegance and still an astounding depth. Just great.
U know what I think of these new ‘diggs’: nice job, song too … . C ya.

Great to have you back in the hot seat tasting some wines again. Welcome back. QOTD: Love the “diggs.”
