GV-I am on hiatus. Will return with pic for wristbands at beginning of June after I’ve moved. Love the new site, twitter definitely not me (I’ve been away)-too twitchy. IOU 10.

Guilty as charged, my friend. I will start adding my 2/100ths from now on. But I’m gonna need those wrist bands.

Reisling is great, and usually a bargain for what it offers. Perfect when served cool on a summer day or even with sushi. Thanks for offering up one example. As for these wines, I’ve never heard of any of them. What gives?

QOTD I think I’ll go to Arizona in August!

Fine GV. Here is my 2 cents.

Great show. I killed myself over your facial reactions to Voga. I agree though that the Grossett Polish Hill is amazing. I have several in the cellar and will be getting the 2006 shortly. Amazing juice with age. Try one that is 10 years old if you can.

In the future, I’d like you to do a tasting from Hungarian/Romanian/Bulgarian and wines from the Crimea (Ukraine) and Georgia (the Eastern European one, not the state).

Congrats on Cork’d. Great business move.

Thanks for trying Reisling and Rose. Both are favorites of mine during the summer. Just my 2 cents.

I guess we all know what to do with crummy wines now! Toss in coins of the realm. Has anyone other than GV tried this before. Great smirk too! Summer rerun time?

I had a glass of Ott rose with dinner last night. I don’t think it was the same bottle you tried in this episode but I have similar tasting notes. It had a tight nose, unctuous mouth-feel and surprisingly long finish for a rose. I found it delightful.

I have a suggestion for your hand motion when you say “a little bit of me” I would like you to try making an OK sign with your fingers but instead of vertical hold the OK sing horizontal and flick your finger. It would be like a dash of you instead of a “little bit of me” and a huge shout out to me.

Love ya Gary and I love what you are doing with WLTV.

I love your honesty!!! QOTD All my children are home from college, so I’ll just keep on drinking wine. Hope to get down the shore. Keep up the good work.

“Think of the message you are sending to our youth.”

Gary really ought to get a bouncer to card the rascals at the door. Suffice it to say better he drown coins than poor defenseless Smurfs.

Point taken, maybe part of the intro should be “Gary is a professional, don’t try this at home without consulting with a physician” or something like that.

Seriously, when my girls come of age, and should they show an interest I would welcome them viewing WLTV. Honesty, integrity, extoling the virtues of family, being nice, thinking for oneself, trusting your gut (or palate as the case may be), being real (and not snooty), and enjoying one of life’s little miracles. One could do worse (despite the misguided, misleading and seriously deluded sports info, nobody is perfect)

Hey Gary! I am the wife and the husband and I both think your show is inspired.
As far as my 2 cents go….Drinking dimes? Isn’t that a bit dangerous? I mean not only have millions of people been handling them but gosh…you could of choked! Never ever do that again. Think of the message you are sending to our youth.
QOTD; After our daughter graduates from UCSC we will be spending time up in the Sierra’s trout fishing, sitting on the deck of our cabin enjoying some wondrous wine and hiking up into the high country. Then it will be a long drive up to Portland to visit family and make some raspberry jam. U-pick-em…Fun! Any Oregon wines we should look into?

Wow! A 48 point wine – that’s saying something. Thanks for the warning. QOTD- not much. No fam vacation this year – college expenses are strangling us. Will definitely be playing some golf. My personal 90 day learning plan also calls for me to immerse myself in wine….well, not literally. Wine knowledge I should say. I am planning to read several books on wine this summer and taste as much as I can afford to try to train my palate a little more.

Thanks for the jump on summer wines. I have to recommend 2005 Melville Clone 76 Inox Chardonnay. I tried a month ago (live in the area) and loved the “salty rock” taste, along with some lemon. Complex and great, long finish. Don’t know the production, so may be difficult to get.

here’s my 2 cents. great episode! I’m a big Sancerre fan and had a great one last week @ Ed’s Lobster Bar on Lafayette St. NYC. IT’s the 2005 Rimbault but it had a very different label than the one WL sells??? help me out.
QOTD; going to yankee games, summerstage in central park, music music music and plenty of vino

    Gary,
Great episode as always, I just ordered some white from you last weekend. Just my luck that the only wine you taste that I can find locally is panned, I will save my 11 bones and buy something else.
QOTD- Motorcycle trip from Denver to Jackson Hole, then out to Lake Tahoe. It should be a great ride even though I will be 11 days without WLTV.

    KenDC

Nice episode Gary- you always bring it- unlike the NJ Nets. I do agree with Dom- those episodes where amaizing.
    QOTD: Going to Grad School.
Gary, See if you can profile a wine from Umbria Italy or any wines containing the Sagrantino grape in the future.

  18. May 16, 2007

    Kathleen

QOTD: I will be packing the love of my life up and moving him to his new base in Colorado, then IRAQ.
But before that, we will be enjoying wine in Georgia next week! I’m planning to visit the Chateau Elan winery and maybe a few others…

QOTD: I’ll be spending the entire summer preparing for the Bar Exam at the end of July. I’m already getting behind on the WLTV episodes as I’m commenting almost 24 hours after the episode aired. Pretty sad.

    Voss making psuedo wine now?

Pink wine isn’t my style…Thanks for the review.

This is the first time I’ve watched one of your episodes and I absolutely loved it! I laughed out loud when you described the pinot grigio as bad goya pineapple juice and I definitely look forward to hearing your opinions on wine in the future.

But oh my god…cat pee? Please don’t go there. Ha ha …

Great show Gary and the Bordeaux episodes…awesome. Watching the blending portion was amazing, truly gave me a new appreciation.

Wow, Gary went medival on the Voga. I just had a bottle this weekend (bought it for the unique bottle; why not) and thought it was ok chilled with grilled chicken with a balsalmic honey glaze and roasted asparagus. Maybe abit “cocktail” like but it was good. Then again, I’m a red man with a Napa palate.

  24. May 16, 2007

Good show Gary. Timely, too, considering the cover story on Rose in WS recently.

You know I was curious about the pronunciation of Polish Hill…namely whether it was polish (as in shine) or Polish (as in the country).

As for two/ten cents. I am very happy for you with the acquisition of cork’d. Seems like a logical move. I have noticed the integration, at least on my end, has slowed things down a bit. The links don’t pop up as fast as they used to and the video sometimes goes straight to Viddler. **shrug** Could just be my experience.

QOTD: My wife and I are looking to get to Scotland and parts of the UK later this summer or early September. We also usually escape to Michigan to visit my family. We get invited to Truro every summer, and we might finally take our friends up on the offer this year.

QOTD: My paretnts are renting an amazing house for a week on Cape Cod in July. I’m flying out with my GF, her daughter and my brother and wife will be there too. Can’t wait!!!
