Nice episode, My wife and I were just talking about what to drink during the hot summer months.

You guys still don’t get that there is no credit for posting something without content other than “I’m number ……”

I like girls who wear makeup too, Gary. We may not agree on football, but at least we can agree on that.

    “gimme dat t-shirt”

    Brett Favre

    My two cents:

The reason many do not comment is that these are too cumbersome to read. Every day there are silly people posting any number of “top 10??” messages, which one must scroll through. Then there are a smaller number of people who post comments yelling at those people for being inane. We all want to get along, of course, but if you’re wondering why Vayniacs (who love the show) don’t love the comments, that’s why.

Was it a shotgun wedding- congrats but why did you buy the cow when you were getting the cheese for free!-oops gotta go wifes coming into the office

  13. May 15, 2007

    Chris Fehnel

Doh, I meant don’t wear makeup. That’s two comments, Even if it’s an update, it should still count as two cents.

    Karl Laczko

Good show, stil prefer reds but am learning to appreciate white and pink as well and experimenting with as many varieties as I can get hold of.

Also got to agree with the others, why post if you’ve nothing to say.

Just dont search the Wl website and make a spelling error! I love when GV speaks french, at least his version of it. I think that is my favorite part of WLtv. New layout is coming together nicely-like the larger video size

gimme dat t-shirt, for my gf

  17. May 15, 2007

    Give me dat T-shirt.
Great wine tastings this summer in Albuquerque. Spring Winefest now; Vintage Albuquerque in June. Penfolds, Pine Ridge, Taittanger, etc.

Gary, I am a everyday WLTV fan. I have one off the wall comment for you. As a wine fan, on a very limited budget, it is just breaking my heart to watch you pour a big chunk of wine in your cup, swish it, and toss it in the spit bucket. Couldn’t you just set a beaker of water there to rinse with? Then we could all imagine that you are giving the left over wine away to some poor cashier or stock boy that really needs a free buzz!

  20. May 15, 2007

Gary, What happened to doing a Rioja show? In the meantime, I’m still loving the show.

    Let me get that T-Shirt!

QOTD: Hiding from the scorching hot sun! Only May and it is already breaking 100 on an almost daily basis. Gonna be a scorcher this year!

  23. May 15, 2007

    Karl Laczko

I’ve never seen a wine at 50 points (or below) … I thought the Sylvaner from last year must have been bad. Hope I never try anything like that by accident.

  24. May 15, 2007

    Elliot Essman

You mean “whites that can be drunk (not drank) now.”

Regardless of the grammar, let me say that the best reviews are those, like the Voga Pinot Grigio, where you excoriate the maker for producing soda pop.

I order some of your raves, but learn from the pans. Keep up the variety. I can’t drink them all, but we all can learn from every one.

  25. May 15, 2007

    EthanPSU

Great episode today, Summer is here!!
QOTD: Taking a few classes and graduating in August… and most certainly drinking a lot of wine.

When should we look for a show on Mexican wine? I was under the impression it was mostly of the jug variety.

  26. May 15, 2007

    Colin Devroe

Ok, this episode should be an instant classic! You like many things that are pink? Cat pee-pee is exactly what you’re looking for? That rinse after the Voga? Haha! Awesome episode Gary. Worth every penny, definitely one of my favorites.

where’s the QOD viddler tag now? I see that all the tags now have corresponding cork’d links.. is this a database thing? (no link for QOD)
Maybe you can just print it in the HTML like you did before.

my QOD: summer will be awesome: Hopefully many weekends to LBI and VT, wife and I will be going down to ATL in July to visit family, and goin RVing in Yellowstone in August!

there it is.. I think that was like .15, do you give change?

  28. May 15, 2007

    amgryger

Today in brooklyn it is starting to feel a bit like summer.

QOTD. Starting my post-graduation employment next week and hoping that the income that comes with it will allow me to enjoy more wine myself, instead of vicariously through Gary.

QOTD: I am going to Mexico for vacation and drinking LOTS of wine. :-)

Great episode! You really tore up that Voga wine. LOL, but that is exactly what is useful in the reviews. I am looking forward to seeing what comes with all the new integration. Thanks!

  32. May 15, 2007

    Jeffrey

I know people use it, but I can’t stand that cat pee descriptive – everytime I think about buying a Sauvignon Blanc, I think cat pee, and put it back on the shelf!

    I agree great, great, rinse!

And by the way my wife digs you and the show. We typically listen to them at home together. In fact we were trying to find the compilation show done my a fan of all your way out wine descriptions. :-)

    Chris Fehnel

QOTD: I am going to try my best to be playing a lot of b-ball and sand volleyball.

This episode is full of funny lines: Funk de funk, this wine is HORRENDOUS, good ol’ fashioned american currency, cat pee, and zingy, zangy, tangy, wangy.

Oh man, I commented three times already. Can we fill up our $.10 quota in one day?

  38. May 15, 2007

    John Blue Label

    Gary,
Fun episode. Great idea to do summer wines. Next time, can you do some Arneis? I think they are fantastic summer wines. Go great after a round of golf!
QOTD: This summer, it’s Hilton Head with the family, our Tour of NY (from NC to NY and back) and hopefully, lots of golf!!!
Got to go, I’m off to sign up on Cork’d.

Bought some of the Grosset and Ricard. Looking forward to trying both. I’m liking the new look of WLTV for sure. How about a sparkling wine or Prosecco espisode being that summer’s almost here?

    Dominus

Just checking in and wow, I’ve been gone a couple days and the entire website improves! Looks good.

I’ll be back later to add my two cents regarding the reviews. Summer whites work for me.

  41. May 15, 2007

Cat Pee? I dunno Gary, you may have lost me there.

  42. May 15, 2007

  43. May 15, 2007

Question of the day…. Hopin’ that summer in Northern England this year stays warm and dry enough for evening BBQs with plenty of Tempranillo Rose….

  46. May 15, 2007

My 2 cents: I like pink stuff too.
    hee hee hee

  47. May 15, 2007

I agree with Colin, nice rinse after the Voga. Should have just got a new glass.

QOTD: work, basketball outside (hopefully), going to Italy in July for a week, drinking wine, love the rose, maybe decide to go into the wine industry?!?!

My two cents: Good episode, maybe due for a blind tasting episode on summer wines, or blind tasting episode on rose. Karantes Rose from Languedoc is excellent imo.

  48. May 15, 2007

    MarkT

^Lurker. Heres my 2 cents: Awesome show.

  49. May 15, 2007

    Bossman

Wow, half a bottle of the “Pierre A Fen” to wash out all memories of the Voga? (next time use quarters, it couldn’t hurt).

QOTD – Stankin’ working, BUT, only 2190 days, or thereabouts until the youngest finishes college.

The wife doesn’t seem to find you too annoying but the dog puts her paws over her ears when you come on (she’s a lazy lab and can’t take all the excitement)

Don’t take this the wrong way but I think you’re cute too in a manly man sort of way NTTAWWT.

  50. May 15, 2007

Don’t hold back, Gary. Tell us what you REALLY think about the Voga Pinot Grigio!

Qotd: a trip to Colorado at the end of june and South Carolina in August….I enjoyed the show….someone commented earlier on Rioja….I would like a show on Rioja…just a thought

  52. May 15, 2007

    Jimkay

Real comment: Do you think anything packaged like the Voga – weird bottle, weird closure – will ever be more than some wine-like beverage made for the Bartles & James drinker?

  53. May 15, 2007

    Shadowbird

QOTD: I’m looking most forward to having my girlfriend come down from Toronto next month. We’re going to have a little raspberry wine, have a nice dinner…

A WLTV first on this show: Gary DEMOLISHES a horrible wine. (I’m just sad it had to be a Pinot Grigio…)

QOTD: – Grilling and drinking wine.

Hmmmmm, good idea for a show. eg, Four wines that go good with grilled meats. Keep up dat good work.

  58. May 15, 2007

    MannyPants

Enjoyed the show. I always thought that Voga looked kinda funny. Don’t know how sanitary it is to throw change in your wine, but I guess the alcohol kills all the germs. When are y’all going to start shipping wine to us folks down here in GA?

  59. May 15, 2007

    Neil

VOGA in a strange bottle without a vintage? Shouldn’t that have been an obvious sign that it was fake wine? It’s really fun to watch when WLTV rips apart a bad effort.

    QOTD: Chillin’ and grillin’

  60. May 15, 2007

    dude

Gary, great episode. I like your honesty, it’s hard to find honest people these days especially on the net. You gotta tell me about your discussion with coach Vermeil, where did you meet him? What did you guys talk about? Wine or football?, I mean c’mon now. QOTD: A mixture of madness, Before I’m back in the US on July 25th, 5 engineering exams, Paris, Venice and Croatia baby. Not to mention all the cheap spanish wine I can get my hands on. Oh what a summer.

  61. May 15, 2007

QOTD: Being a bachelor with my dog while my lady goes to Spain for a month. I figure we’re gonna live it up: spittin’ and fightin’, drinkin’ and cursin’. There’s also some chatter about going with the fella’s down to Georgia to watch the ALMS Petit LeMans in October.

your all over it again GV. opening with a Rose and closing with an Australian Riesling… nice.
QOTD – landscaping/staining deck around the house, a long weekend in Montreal for the Police Concert, and just letting the summer things happen. cheers!

  63. May 15, 2007

    cali6buff

    Great episode.

QWTD – Sanding the deck, Playing some softball, and preparing for #2.

GV – I bought a case of “Sunday Mountain” and really enjoying it. Lemony!,(and I though I caught some vanilla at the very very end, wowwed me.) Should I buy 1, 3, or 12 of Domaine Ricard Touraine Blanc Pierre A Feu?

  64. May 15, 2007

    Brian

Great show!!! I saw that Voga in the store and was thinking about trying it out. Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t.
QOTD: Taking more classes and trying to find a job cause I’m poor.

  65. May 15, 2007

    Andre

I just had the 2005 Domaines Ott Les Domaines Rose this past weekend. I first tasted it ice cold from the fridge and I didn’t like it very much. As it aerated and warmed up to room temperature the fruit was much more evident and by the last sip I really liked it.

  66. May 15, 2007

    Like the new look Gary.

QOTD : A few short trips touring the wine country in Washington and Oregon, and then firing up the chain saw. Been 15 years since my yard was landscaped and it’s time for some demo work on the overgrown greenery.

Loved the episode. Each day I try to read your expressions, Gary, as you’re tasting the wines and trying to guess what you’ll say. Can’t say as I often get it right, but with the larger format, it’s a lot more entertaining. Thanks

And speaking of entertainment … a note to all new Vayniacs. Make use of the episode archives. I suggest watching them in reverse order from newest to oldest, at least until you get back to that classic episode from 01.08.07 (#161 … sad Gary).

  68. May 15, 2007

    Halden

QOTD: I will spend most of my summer work in and around the house I just bought.

Great episode Gary. I am very excited about getting my Cork’d account up and running. Also interested in trying Rose’s that do not suck.

Reaction to the Voga was just awesome.

I don’t know if you’re done an episode on this, but could you do an episode on “common” wines or wines that people first buy when they first get into the world of wine?

  70. May 15, 2007

    BV

What is it about human nature that loves the slam?
I’ll remember your Voga blast long after the other 3 are forgotten — in fact, I’ve already forgotten ‘em.
But your 48-score Voga knock actually makes me wanna taste it — could it really be that bad?
Fun ep, Gar’ – and the new look is lookin’ GOOD!

Great show! I really liked the ugly fruit reference. Have you ever tried Budah’s hand (a purfumey citrus)? I keep hoping it will turn up in a wine someday.
    QOTD: Starting a new job.

Today, you became a Jedi Knight Wine World Sensei!!!!!!!!!

What more could we ask for the last couple days…

You teeing up on the Voga Pinot Grigio
Cat Pee – and not full blown but the last couple of drops…

    HEY G.V.

WEll i love the integration with Cork’d. I have been a member for a little while and I think it is definitely a good thing.
Like the episode today, my favorite Rose recently has been one from Sullivan Vineyards in NAPA, called Pink Ink, great wine and a cool bottle.
I am psyched to try the Riesling, both my wife and are big fans of good dry or off dry ones.

QOTD – Next week we are headed to Key West for my sisters wedding
the end of June we are headed to my sister in laws wedding in Italy. We are staying for a week and hitting the wineries of the Piedmont which is where the Italian family lives. Pretty sweet huh.

QOTD: Possible trip to Oregon wine country… various weekend trips around the east coast.

I always love when you do a Sauvignon Blanc… it’s my fav white and I find that Sauvignon Blancs either go towards greatness or go towards complete garbage. So it’s nice to find a potential good one.

Gary, at the risk of being labelled a techie, ask your programmers if they could take advantage of AJAX for the comments section so you could post a comment without the whole page reloading. If I post a comment while watching WLTV I have to go back and find where I was in the video which is sorta a PITA. From what I understand AJAX can allow one part of a part to be refreshed without the whole page being refreshed.

  84. May 15, 2007

    geespot

Great episode. Laughing out loud more than once. Love the comment about how the wives/girlfriends can’t stand you, that’s hilarious because that’s exactly what goes on in my house. You know what though, it actually makes the show more enjoyable to watch knowing she can’t stand it!

QOD: Well, summer is here in Las Vegas, it’s already 95 degrees, so anything I do is a summer activity now. Coming to visit the folks in NYC and NJ next week, hopefully I’ll get a chance to sneak off to the store. Her folks are only a stones throw away in Livingston, so maybe I can beg, bribe, or otherwise con my way into a trip over there. My clincher is that we’re having a BBQ in L-town on Memorial Day so, someone needs to go buy the WINE!

Guilty Guilty Guilty. Sorry Gary, like some of the others I’m guilty of hangin in the forums and not posting in the comments. Here are my 2 cents for the day.

Can’t wait to see the integration between Cork’d and WL.

Just looking forward to a nice relaxing summer. Drinking some wine, smoking some cigars and generally just haning out. How about you?

    GottaGoDrink

Gary- Really fun episode! Nothing quite like a 48 point wine to get the descriptions going. Nice how it was followed by two wines you really liked. That, in a nutshell, is WLTV.

QOTD- A 4-day weekend of musky fishing in N. Wisconsin with the guys, kids soccer games, kids baseball games, street fairs by the score with live music, trips to Ravinia outdoor music fest, MLB in Chicago, vacation in the Hamptons where I hope to find some $90, 48-point wine, take the kids to summer camp, find something fun to do while they’re gone, try some new wines with our cookouts, turn my friends on to more good wine, go to some outdoor BYO restaurants!

5 comments a week? You best be giving big time material to entice the minions to speak! There’s nothing like panning a ridiculous ‘delivery device’ winemobile w/ a smug smile on the face and a thumbs up- I love it! My wife does complain about your voice, consistently! You’ll need to do more than toss her a t-shirt…perhaps you could toss her a bottle of ‘00 Leoville Las Cases, that will coaxe some favor outta her ;)

  90. May 15, 2007

    Garret Nagle

    QOTD:

This summer, as you know, I’m graduating, job hunting, and the big one…. getting married. Be sure to look out for some engagement pictures to be sent your way to be posted on WLTV coming up closer to the big day – Aug. 24.

I’m also looking forward to connecting with some of my good friends that are away at college and what not, and I think it’s important to spend a lot of quality time with my groomsmen this summer.

And what am I doing this weekend? Having a graduation barbeque at which I will introduce my friends to the wonderful world of Argentine Malbec and Spanish Cava Brut Rose……. Followed by tobacco pipes and the sipping of port with bleu cheese and pear slices.

    Gary,

You ask for it…you get it(cause I’m just that dedicated….). You would like my commets….I’d like to see you stop opening wines 2, 3, or 4 hours before the show. There are MANY, MANY wines that fall apart(even in their youth) in the period of a few hours…so I’d like you to think about opening wines an hour or so before the show. What do you think? Are their reasons you’re opening these wines for 4 hours that I don’t know about? Let me know…
QOTD: This summer….I’m working my @$$ off as the wine director for a Cuban restaurant, Havana’s in Bar Harbor, ME. 6 nights a week…just don’t show up on a Thursday night…

Oh great, my OCD side wanted to put in its 2 cents worth …. Please, Gary, even if the wine/beverage rates only a 48, don’t try to improve its flavor profile with cold, hard cash, there may not be enough alcohol in the juice to kill the GERMS !!!

  93. May 15, 2007

    Harold

Gary I can’t figure out if you laid the smack down on that Voga or if it laid the smack down on you. Either way, it is just THAT type of unpredictability that I love about WLTV.

Great ep! Loved the pinot grigio smackdown. Believe it or not, I am a woman who got my hubby interested in WLTV. We now watch when we get home from work.

That Reisling sounds really awesome. I tried an Oklahoma-produced Reisling last weekend, and found it to be nice, but there were sugar crystals at the bottom of the bottle that ended up in the final glass poured. Is this normal, or is it a sign of an immature wine?

When are you doing the Lacryma Christi ep? I bought a case, for God’s sake! ;)

    BCWinesAreIn

Great episode. The smackdown on the pinot grigio was entertaining. 48 points! As for the summer, looking to expanding my palate by trying more roses. Recently bought a BC rose from Joie, a local BC winery, and looking forward to it. Speaking of Rieslings, ICEWINE baby! Had an ice wine during a Mother’s Day tasting. The NK ‘Mip Cellars Qwam Qwmt Riesling Icewine was so good.

hey gary, okay, you got me to post out here. A couple weeks ago I was wondering where to vacation to drink and eat well. Finally decided against Vegas and Chicago as posters have suggested. I was up late the other night and impulsively booked a flight to northern Spain to backpack and visit family.

Anybody out there have any suggestions about A Coruna, or Galicia in general?

    Thanks guys!

    G,
Your review of the Voga was freaking Classic :) :)
I almost spit up my glass of wine all over the screen when you said “this is not where the thunder lies, this is where the poison candy lies”.
I am glad you did not feel that way about the Rudi I was bugging you to try.
QOTD: I am staying cool and traveling when I can. :)

First time comment – so here’s my 2 cents worth (from the home town of Mike Nugent and Nick Mangold).

I’ve had several vintages of the Grosset Riesling and they have all been tremendous, and your description of peaches on steel is right on. The sauvignon blanc sounds good too.

  105. May 15, 2007

    PhilB

    Hahaha!

My girlfriend just suggested the term “Vayniaquette” for the ladies of the Vayniacs, all the girls for whom the new t-shirt was designed!!

This reminds me of why I love her so much!

Pouring dimes into swill Pinot Gri, great comedic effect, still laughing!
QOTD: Going to SanFran for the party, then going wine tasting all weekend (have some sick appointments set up already) and oh, taking Sommelier classes at ISG in Los Angeles (Trying to take things to the next level). And then at summers end might check out Burning Man.

Give my wife DAT t-shirt :-)

Gary—Don’t hold back, tell how you really feel about the Vigo! ;-) Do you know that I have seen that wine before and thought “That’s probably just a nasty wine in a cool bottle”. Thanks for confirming my theory!

Also, my un-ending gratitude for doing a summer whites episode (that included a Riesling, my fav) and for making a female Vayniac shirt! I am hoping that my wonderful, loving, handsome husband will order one for yours truly!

    Thanks for keeping it real!

    Wine Lush

QOTD – Working, working and working. But I’m in the wine industry, so it’s drinking and working!!!! YEA!

Thank you for the rose. Don’t fear the pink stuff! I saw that funky bottle in the local store, thought about it, didn’t pick it up. Glad to see you put it in it’s place. The winery and distributor probably haven’t picked theirselves off the floor yet.

Wow, all the comments about you dumping so much wine. Don’t change. It’s an industry habit, we waste more wine than drink. BUT if I EVER see you wash your glass with water, I’ll have to book a flight to NJ and slap you around your office a bit. (I said that of course with a lot of love in my heart)

    Wine Lush!

Drink more, makes everyone around you look good!

    OK, here’s $0.02 for today.

QOD: I’m probably going to be homebound for the summer, The Boss and I will be picking up several sheep(!) to go with the goats we got a few weeks back. It’s all part of her Master Plan for weed control in our vineyard. What can I say.

I gotta say I’ve gotten over my fear and loathing of white wines. I’m drinking Fume Blanc, Viognier, and even some White Burgundy these days. But I gotta wonder, what does “bringing the thunder” mean for white wines?

QOTD: hopefully closing on a new home with a little hillside out back – perfect southern exposure for a little home vineyard…that’s the plan anyway …

Thanks for the rose, Touraine, and Riesling suggestions – will definitely seek them out.

that was quality – nice work with the dimes. on your game today, eh? just bought a couple of roses from s. africa yesterday… it’s that time of year again. haven’t seen much from france in the stores around here… keeping an eye out though.

qotd: not much. have a couple weeks off for the first time in a while, which will be good. other than that, work, bbq and wine. can’t really complain about that though.

ColdVVaves, just my $.02 but we really enjoyed Preston Vineyards and Iron Horse when we were in sonoma. check ‘em out…

Great idea with the dimes. I’ll have to remember to comment everyday now.

The Voga Pinot Grigio beat the 56 point Trader Joe’s Beaujolais Nouveau 2006 (that’s the Charles Shaw blend, lol)! Poison candy.

QOTD: I really have no idea. I’ll watch the show and start a cellar or something.

  116. May 15, 2007

Nice touch – the dimes but the cat pee makes me NEVER want to try the wine.

We really must be changing the Wine world, with all these new features and all. It’s good to see progress in such a positive arena. Hmmm was that the right word? QOTD. This Summer I’m going to get really Deep into White and Rose wine, by pool side of course. Keep Rockin’ Big G.

Awesome! I love summer whites. An episode on summer reds would be good too. I also liked the Napa wines yesterday, maybe an episode on Temecula wines?? I haven’t seen any on Wine Library but I live near there and wanted to know what you thought of them.
QOTD: Work, and the Sound and Fury Festival!

  120. May 15, 2007

Another great episode. I’d actually love to see a whole episode on rose wines….particularly those from Tavel and the Southern Rhone. QOTD: Taking the kids to St. John, USVI, for a week at a friend’s villa. Other than that, just the usual summer stuff; working during the week and living for the beach and the back deck on the weekends!

  121. May 15, 2007

    JonE

Yes G-Man, I too am sweet on pink. Lots of pink, somedays I dream about it non-stop. Summer time is getting pastey white kid sunburns at the beach, with SPF 40 sunscreen. Goodtimes and sparklers

  122. May 15, 2007

    portman

Whoa. Voga scored lower than the two buck chucks that you tasted a month or two ago… The full glass rinse was a classic. Would a pinot grigio “cocktail” be a good starting point for someone just getting into wine, especially if they say “I don’t like wine”?

Pink is good. I don’t get to it very often. Once or twice a year.

QOTD: Enjoying the back patio, helping my wife open her new deli, and listening to the crickets while I sip some summer wines.

I like the new look. Gives me a lot to do to explore all the new features.

    There’s my $.02 worth.

    Thank you. Great episode.

Was somebody reading Kahuna’s nickel comment today?

$14 for a rose? If you paid $14 for rose Champagne you’d get arrested.

    Nice spill.

Is that Voga a shampoo bottle? That is the worst bottle in the history of the world.

Baby strawberries? Does the stork bring those?

You charged for the WLTV shirts.

Nice color? I’m shocked. Is it classic too?

    Goya? Zoyza!

Poison candy? Sounds like Halloween at my house last year!

Wow, 48 points? That’s like scoring less than 400 on the SATs!

Tangy, wangy? Will somebody please wake up Kahuna.

Why would you pick a bad wine thing (corked) for the name of your site?

Who’s this Robert Parker dude everyone is talking about?

You guys really kicked up the video quality today.

Very clever on the cork’d board comment. Very, very clever.

    Sorry, that’s Pole-ish Hill.

You said I was the only one allowed to pee on you.

What’s the difference between banana and banana peel?

QOTD: Lame QOTD. So lame I’m not even answering. While you’re at it, why don’t you ask us to write an essay on how we spent our summer vacation?

I was rolling after the review of the Voga! Unbelievable.

Though I will need to try the rose and the Grosset.

QOTD: Summer? Rehabbing my back and neck so I can play tennis, enjoying the beach next weekend and in September in OBX, grillin’ and drinking fun wines.

Kudos to your webmasters. This is really first-class.

great episode….PGC..nice!!! Dimes in the glass was even funnier. Im glad you tasted that and not me… Does the company that makes Voss make that wine? Even teh v on the bottle makes it look like voss…. anyway I will have to check out that rose… I always try roses when I am out tasting but still havent found any I enjoy.

    QOTD:
So what am I doing for the summer? I am working in a cave in Napa and when they let me out I will be enjoying some great bottles of wine while relaxing in the sun. So GV when you come to Napa, be sure to visit me in the Jarvis cave!!!

Love the coinage in the wine, classic!!
I’ve probably only dumped about 4 bottle of wine due to the poo factor but it’s so frickin’ frustrating.
That’s what’s so interesting about wine: you can get a crap bottle for 10 or 100 dollars and you can get some fantastic wine in a range of prices.

I had a feeling about that wine…sorry, I meant wine cocktail. You should have used some of those dimes for a bottle of Boone’s Farm Country Kwencher. At least you could have enjoyed the reminiscing of younger, crazier times and sadly enough, a better QPR.

QOTD: Going to Santa Rosa Beach (FL) with my wife, kid, and family; and playing a lot of golf and drinking much wine. Not necessarily in that order.

Q: I couldn’t tell from the video, is Domaine Ott not making those funky bowling ball bottles anymore? Anyway, I forgot to stock up on rose like I did last year, and now it’s too hot to ship and the local rose selection is crap. Six-year-old Tavel? Can that possibly be good?

WOW! Having Vermeil on was cool, BUUUUT…..this was waaaaaaay better. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen.
    1) I too love the pink.
    2) I love when you hammer a crappy wine. Wow! Do the producers or distributors call and harrass you?
    3) LOVE the cat pee. I just ordered a bunch of the Sunday Mountain Sav Balnc. (From wine library)
    4) 5 minutes before you showed the t-shirt, my wife wined, “he’s really obnoxious. why do you watch that?” Hmmmmmm….is there a vaniak tatoo I can purchase??

    - you know, I’ll have a tough time giving you a full ten cents if you don’t do any more episodes this week :P

Gary, your show is awesome! My fiance got me into it and now I’m a fan. I love the summer whites theme. I drank a bunch of Gruner Veltliner in March (H&M Hofer) and it matched the season perfectly. A very springy wine in a big green bottle.

Question: How long do you recommend cellaring pinot noirs? We have a 1999 Husch Pinot Noir (Knoll vineyard) that I think we need to open soon. What is a good vegetarian food to eat with it?

Plus: We love Cork’d! Been on it a few months now and we have several reviews. I’m glad you got involved with it! Looking forward to good improvements.

    QOTD:

Summertime plans include lots of baseball, travel, wine tasting, concerts, and being outdoors. But for the majority of the summer, I’ll be pushing pills at the über-hip Big K Pharmacy. Yeah yeah, I’ll be spending my summer at the local Kmart store,(do they still exist?!). If I see little punks bringing toys from the dollar store and trying to return them at my counter, I’m going to laugh and deny them of their $6 profit scheme…what kind of “kid” would do such a thing…Gary? ;)

Sorry for my lack of comments lately. I was boycotting this area after the Jets traded up to take Darrelle Revis one pick before I thought the Steelers were going to get him.
QOTD: Hopefully spending lots of time with the family (including the in-laws)

I know that you often ask for suggestions for wines to taste and I think this recommendation may be something that can finally bring the New World fans and Old World fans together. Vayniacs unite!

Man, that Riesling sounds awesome, and that Voss-lookalike Grigio sounds awesomely bad. Thanks for the whites, hopefully we’ll see variations on this theme throughout the summer. QOD: This summer it’s all work work work- making dreams come true (hopefully).

Breathe easy gary – here’s a comment. Good episode. High energy as usual.
Love Goya juices – enjoy the taste of “can”.
As for white zin . . . that’s what got many people started. An enjoyable, fruit forward wine without the astringent acidity of poorly made wines.

  176. May 16, 2007

    t_moderne

oh and if it’s not too late or too obvious….
    gimme dat t-shirt.

OMG – I am dying over the Voss/Voga “wine-like” drink. “lets give it 50 points, it gets much for just being wine – wait lets score this one 48 points….” :) ) GV have to say I love when you taste horrid wines as it debunks the “seriousness & stuffiness” of wine tasting.

QOTD: I decided to take the summer off from school and enjoy the weather as I need to destress.

  178. May 16, 2007

    RonC

Classic episode. Should I be looking for free shipping on the Voss/Voga wine in the future? I know someone I’d like to send a case to.

This summer I intend to play softball as often as I can with my family, go to Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA (early August), watch lots of baseball, lose 30 lbs and drink enough wine to make me forget I’m 60.

Great episode Gary, we really need an episode on 4 dry rosé, especially a region driven one, that would be pretty cool…… :) I absolutely love it when you attack a whole region, specially when it’s about white wine… oh and of course I’m still waiting for an episode on albariño………. see ya Gary!!

Voga proof that just because your pretty doesn’t mean there is any substance inside worth exploring :) .

I am spending my summer working on my podcast network. Recording shows, working on adding badass features to the website, maybe even adding a video component. I also have a huge family reunion i am going to be doing film, photos, and audio for.

    SonicGG

I’d comment more but I am watching the episodes in the evening the next day (y’alls’ time) and my pearls of wisdom end up being lost in the shuffle…but hay er hey…I second the call for an all rose episode. One of my favorite roses is a Clos de Lambray for about 20 USD equiv. but well, well worth it. I’m intrigued by Spanish garnacha rose so why not some pinot, garnacha/grenache and other roses (syrah/shiraz?)?? And, indeed, Aus. Riesling is something everyone should seek out at least once. Old world though? Fairly bone dry compared to Alsace/Germany, no?
QOD: Sweating my fat ass off…

Here’s my 2 for the day a day late. Great episode Qotd Doing lots of yard work, grilling, and golfing… and wine of coarse. Hey I just read your most recent twitter and you are going to recieve alot of flack for calling everybody out and asking for there 2 cents everyday and then being short a couple episodes in the following days. I for one won’t give you any guff about it. You do a hell of alot for all of us man And I think everyone has got caught up in a busy schedule from time to time. I hope you find a way to throw us an episode or two but if not see you monday and enjoy your weekend.thanks

  184. May 16, 2007

    Matty Matt

    PGC – Awesome

Giving a wine 48 points when its starts at 50 is like not getting the 200 points for putting your name on the SAT. HA

QOTD – More or less the same as always, work kind of gets in the way. But I plan on taking my son swimming most weekends and we rented a house in the Berkshires for a week in August which should be fun.

  185. May 16, 2007

    Ryan D

QOTD: My house is on a lake, so there’ll be a lot of swimming, a lot of BBQing, and a lot of relaxing outside!!! Might be some yard work in there, too.

    Hey Gary,

Congrats on the Cork’d acquisition. I have liked cork’d practically since they came online. Good resource. Please take care of it! :)

    Cheers!

    jorge

Wacky show, drinking dimes, wow!, I knew there was going to be more to them than just the two cents 5 times a week, did you rehearse that? About the two cents stuff, I agree that if there is nothing to say, nothing should be commented, otherwise is just more noise, unless that is the objective. Is very good when you read significant comments that educate or bring something up that needs to be said. Praising your efforts in each episode is also good, but ” Top ten!”, come on, that is useless. Never the less, is a great show, Gary, is like the morning coffee to me, I watch it first thing every morning. Congrats on the growth of the empire, as long as we all benefit, keep expanding. Just signed up for Cork’d, “jorge” was taken so I am “jll”.

QOTD: Help my son get into a college Baseball program somewhere. Lots of showcases and letters.

  188. May 16, 2007

    Robert F

Aaah the joys of french pronunciation. Hate to break it to you, but instead of saying “puits” wich means “well” (as in a hole in the ground), you said “pute” which means “whore” :-) that’s okay though, I love WLTV all the same.

QOTD: For the summer i’m going on vacation in Burgundy when my girlfriend comes out after the semester ends, then it’s off to the Sierras to spend a few days in the mountains with the fam.

  189. May 16, 2007

    MikeyB

Residual drops of cat pee – I love it!!! Best note ever.

QOTD: holed up in my apartment writing a dissertation. Arggggggggggg. But it will be done in August and then I can get into all those wines I’ve been buying from Wine Library.

  190. May 16, 2007

    Acousticdoc

    My 2 cents.
I love your Voga review. My inlaws love this stuff and think it’s the greatest wine in the world. They are also big fans of Kool-Aid. I don’t mean to insult Kool-aid.
QOTD: Playing golf, playing guitar, just plain playing as much as I can.

  191. May 16, 2007

I’m BACK! was in Cuba for a bit on vaction but am finally up to date on all of the episodes. I loved the Bordeaux clips….keep them coming!
QOTD – I’m hainging out at our cottage….drinking some nice Domaine Ott and Austrian Riesling and GruVee. What are you doing Gary?

  194. May 16, 2007

    Lynne

Very funny from what I could gather from listening to it.
I can’t watch the video, just listen to it. I’ll have to get back in touch with AntiChris. He’s goin to get tired of me.

So you drank wine w/ dirty money in it? Did that improve the flavor?
There are a couple of today’s wines I just might have to add to my cart.

QOD: Whatever gets me outside. Grilling, bike riding, cornhole. I’d like to take the fam whitewatering. We are taking my daughter and son-in-law to Chicago for a Cubs game. (He’s a big baseball freak; unless it’s football or college basketball season.) and the no-brainer…drinking some good wines.

  198. May 16, 2007

That looked like a biggazz bottle of Eau de Toilette Voga…a little dab behind the ears…no wait better…aftershave! A splash or two should do.

I really wanted that T-shirt…maybe if I begged. Please mister. Gimme dat T-shirt. I’ll make good use of it. I will sit in my front yard in a lawn chair drinking wine in your T-shirt that came from WL and tell the kids that gather at my feet the story of you. Just please mister I gotta have it!

QOTD: only teaching 6 weeks…woohoo! then going to northern CA for Vaycay! Actually stopping in Oregon wine country, too!

    Clifford James

Thanks for another great episode Gary! ONCE AGAIN I am VERY impressed with your integrity and willingness to call a spade a spade — THIS is what keeps me coming back!

Would have been a good day for your pink shirt, no?

Looking for a million friends? WOW … hey, gotta shoot for the stars, and I respect that!

Larger video-viewing area is great … thank your tech people for me.

I know I aint the first one, and I’m even leaving this comment a whole day later than the episode aired, BUT, you’ve GOTTA give me dat T for my Darcey! You’ve just GOTTA!

QOTD: Summer? Fixing my house so I can sell it and then quit my freakin’ soul-robbing job and buy Darcey and myself one entire worry-free dive-into-our-passions creative year, hopefully in beautiful Sonoma county! So, the summer will be busy, but the reward will be awesome. LOOK OUT!

QOTD: My paretnts are renting an amazing house for a week on Cape Cod in July. I’m flying out with my GF, her daughter and my brother and wife will be there too. Can’t wait!!!

  205. May 16, 2007

    Matthew L

Good show Gary. Timely, too, considering the cover story on Rose in WS recently.

You know I was curious about the pronunciation of Polish Hill…namely whether it was polish (as in shine) or Polish (as in the country).

As for two/ten cents. I am very happy for you with the acquisition of cork’d. Seems like a logical move. I have noticed the integration, at least on my end, has slowed things down a bit. The links don’t pop up as fast as they used to and the video sometimes goes straight to Viddler. **shrug** Could just be my experience.

QOTD: My wife and I are looking to get to Scotland and parts of the UK later this summer or early September. We also usually escape to Michigan to visit my family. We get invited to Truro every summer, and we might finally take our friends up on the offer this year.

  206. May 16, 2007

    Mark K_NJ

Wow, Gary went medival on the Voga. I just had a bottle this weekend (bought it for the unique bottle; why not) and thought it was ok chilled with grilled chicken with a balsalmic honey glaze and roasted asparagus. Maybe abit “cocktail” like but it was good. Then again, I’m a red man with a Napa palate.

  207. May 16, 2007

This is the first time I’ve watched one of your episodes and I absolutely loved it! I laughed out loud when you described the pinot grigio as bad goya pineapple juice and I definitely look forward to hearing your opinions on wine in the future.

But oh my god…cat pee? Please don’t go there. Ha ha …

QOTD: I’ll be spending the entire summer preparing for the Bar Exam at the end of July. I’m already getting behind on the WLTV episodes as I’m commenting almost 24 hours after the episode aired. Pretty sad.

QOTD: I will be packing the love of my life up and moving him to his new base in Colorado, then IRAQ.

Nice episode Gary- you always bring it- unlike the NJ Nets. I do agree with Dom- those episodes where amaizing.
    QOTD: Going to Grad School.
Gary, See if you can profile a wine from Umbria Italy or any wines containing the Sagrantino grape in the future.

  213. May 16, 2007

    Harley Stan

    Gary,
Great episode as always, I just ordered some white from you last weekend. Just my luck that the only wine you taste that I can find locally is panned, I will save my 11 bones and buy something else.
QOTD- Motorcycle trip from Denver to Jackson Hole, then out to Lake Tahoe. It should be a great ride even though I will be 11 days without WLTV.

  214. May 16, 2007

    half century

here’s my 2 cents. great episode! I’m a big Sancerre fan and had a great one last week @ Ed’s Lobster Bar on Lafayette St. NYC. IT’s the 2005 Rimbault but it had a very different label than the one WL sells??? help me out.
QOTD; going to yankee games, summerstage in central park, music music music and plenty of vino

  215. May 16, 2007

    maggiej

Thanks for the jump on summer wines. I have to recommend 2005 Melville Clone 76 Inox Chardonnay. I tried a month ago (live in the area) and loved the “salty rock” taste, along with some lemon. Complex and great, long finish. Don’t know the production, so may be difficult to get.

  216. May 16, 2007

    carbon60

Whew! I finally caught up on the episodes. I guess it’s kind of good for me that there isn’t an episode today. Here’s my $.30 as a lump-sum payment for missing several comments:
Episode #222 QOTD: So right- one year anniversary of my relationship
#223: Best bargain: Adopting my cat.
#224: Favorite flavor in wine: mineral
#225: Fifth Grade Teacher: Mrs. Dionese
#226: Best draft pick: Rick from the 2006 season of my kickball team
    #227: Overrrated wine: N/A
#228: Favorite old school thing: mix tapes
    #229: Multiple choice: B-hermit
#230: Favorite person to drink wine with: My boyfriend and my dad
    #231: Procrastinator? Yes-case in point.
#232: Concerned about technology? Only if it ends up creating more work (which is most of the time).
#233: Is Twitter awesome? I don’t like cell phones, actually.
#236: Opinion on new look: Looks great!
#237: What’s real in my life: almost everything. I like natural and honest.
#238: This summer is about: captaining my kickball team.

    There you go!

  217. May 16, 2007

    Samantha H.

Newbie here – first time commenting!
Loved the episode – absolutely hysterical.
QOTD: I’m a teacher, so I’ll be taking it easy until I move at the end of July.
    Keep up the fabulous work!

  218. May 16, 2007

    Bobinnati

Wow! A 48 point wine – that’s saying something. Thanks for the warning. QOTD- not much. No fam vacation this year – college expenses are strangling us. Will definitely be playing some golf. My personal 90 day learning plan also calls for me to immerse myself in wine….well, not literally. Wine knowledge I should say. I am planning to read several books on wine this summer and taste as much as I can afford to try to train my palate a little more.

  219. May 16, 2007

    sharon

Hey Gary! I am the wife and the husband and I both think your show is inspired.
As far as my 2 cents go….Drinking dimes? Isn’t that a bit dangerous? I mean not only have millions of people been handling them but gosh…you could of choked! Never ever do that again. Think of the message you are sending to our youth.
QOTD; After our daughter graduates from UCSC we will be spending time up in the Sierra’s trout fishing, sitting on the deck of our cabin enjoying some wondrous wine and hiking up into the high country. Then it will be a long drive up to Portland to visit family and make some raspberry jam. U-pick-em…Fun! Any Oregon wines we should look into?

  220. May 16, 2007

    Bossman3078

“Think of the message you are sending to our youth.”

Gary really ought to get a bouncer to card the rascals at the door. Suffice it to say better he drown coins than poor defenseless Smurfs.

Point taken, maybe part of the intro should be “Gary is a professional, don’t try this at home without consulting with a physician” or something like that.

Seriously, when my girls come of age, and should they show an interest I would welcome them viewing WLTV. Honesty, integrity, extoling the virtues of family, being nice, thinking for oneself, trusting your gut (or palate as the case may be), being real (and not snooty), and enjoying one of life’s little miracles. One could do worse (despite the misguided, misleading and seriously deluded sports info, nobody is perfect)

  221. May 16, 2007

    e.fremont

I love your honesty!!! QOTD All my children are home from college, so I’ll just keep on drinking wine. Hope to get down the shore. Keep up the good work.

  222. May 16, 2007

    Sarah L

I had a glass of Ott rose with dinner last night. I don’t think it was the same bottle you tried in this episode but I have similar tasting notes. It had a tight nose, unctuous mouth-feel and surprisingly long finish for a rose. I found it delightful.

I have a suggestion for your hand motion when you say “a little bit of me” I would like you to try making an OK sign with your fingers but instead of vertical hold the OK sing horizontal and flick your finger. It would be like a dash of you instead of a “little bit of me” and a huge shout out to me.

Love ya Gary and I love what you are doing with WLTV.

  223. May 16, 2007

    wm mole

I guess we all know what to do with crummy wines now! Toss in coins of the realm. Has anyone other than GV tried this before. Great smirk too! Summer rerun time?

  224. May 16, 2007

Thanks for trying Reisling and Rose. Both are favorites of mine during the summer. Just my 2 cents.

  225. May 16, 2007

    OttawaB

Fine GV. Here is my 2 cents.

Great show. I killed myself over your facial reactions to Voga. I agree though that the Grossett Polish Hill is amazing. I have several in the cellar and will be getting the 2006 shortly. Amazing juice with age. Try one that is 10 years old if you can.

In the future, I’d like you to do a tasting from Hungarian/Romanian/Bulgarian and wines from the Crimea (Ukraine) and Georgia (the Eastern European one, not the state).

Congrats on Cork’d. Great business move.

  226. May 16, 2007

    Neurodoc

Reisling is great, and usually a bargain for what it offers. Perfect when served cool on a summer day or even with sushi. Thanks for offering up one example. As for these wines, I’ve never heard of any of them. What gives?

QOTD I think I’ll go to Arizona in August!

  227. May 16, 2007

    Phoebe

Guilty as charged, my friend. I will start adding my 2/100ths from now on. But I’m gonna need those wrist bands.

    tarheel17

    GV,
I can’t possibly read all 230 comments because I’ve still got an episonde or two to watch tonight, but I do have to say that this episode had a deep-seeded truism within:

Money does NOT make anythign in life better. Even bad wine. And it certainly doesn’t make anything in life that matters better.

    Nice job!
I’ll take a t-shirt, but I will never say ‘dat.’ So I guess I’ll have to pay for it. :)

the Voga is like the student who spells his name wrong on the ACT and gets counted off for that….it’s that remedial (so it appears). good show though. i’m kinda the opposite from who you were callin out. i get overwhelmed in the discussion boards but have posted on the episodes more regularly (starting to atleast). keep up the stellar work and i’ll try to make the jump over with the big dogs here soon.

QOTD: What am I doing this summer? My ass is going to be on a hot pool deck every weekend in the summer to watch all of my little swimmers do AWESOME cause they have GREAT COACHES!!!

  242. May 17, 2007

Is it just because summer is coming or is there resurgence in Rosé wines? Everywhere I look on the web and written media someone is reviewing a Rosé. No complaints (I had a great Malbec Rosé a few weeks ago) I’m just curious if this is a seasonal thing or swing in the US market.

2¢: I’ll be glad to add my comments daily, it’s just that sometimes I can’t watch the episodes until a day or two later. Does that still help you?

QOTD: I’ll be working to pay off my property taxes, but I’ll still enjoy a glass of wine each day!

man, those guys who requested that “PGC” review must be hurtin’! Anyway, couple things: Are you that it’s “POLISH” Hill (as in the Eastern European country!). Could you add another dimension to your reviews, such as sweetness and dryness? Sweet up front, dry on the finish? I’m just sayin’. Oh, and cool about Cork’d, but brothah, you gotta pony up too! Let’s see YOUR stash on the site–what’s in YOUR cellar??! Again. I’m just sayin’, yo. ;) Great show. . .

    QOTD: Gettin’ married! :) :O :D !

  245. May 17, 2007

    Bill

Hay Gary – I know people give you grief about pronunciation (rightly!), so here is another one: “Polish” as in ‘the people from Poland’, not “Polish” as in the stuff you shine your furniture with! In South Australia many areas now in the heartland of wine-making were first settled by Europeans – as distinct from the British – and “Polish Hill” certainly refers to Poles (ie, people from Poland, not glorified posts!)

    Gary,

I liked this episode, but I’m not sure on the cat pee adjective. It brings back memories of trying to get that horrible aroma out of my carpets when we bought a house from a cat owner. You never know how you’re going to describe a wine and nobody does it quite like you do. Always interesting. :)

Anyway, I love white wines, especially a somewhat sweet Reisling or an ice wine.

QOTD: Not sure as of yet. I hope were moving. Have a great weekend and congrats to Erik & Amy.

Oh I forgot to comment on the site. I LOVE IT!! Much nicer, better format.

Thanks for all the work that you all do to bring us WLTV.

    Gary,
I think I feel a little out of place. All the viewers seem to be married and have children. Whats a 21 year old to do with years of experience in the industry?

Good show, love the new format. I no longer have to strain my eyes at 2am when I usually watch. I love that rose, we are selling it a lot at the wine shop I work at. Who thinks that Voga stuff is good? Elena Walch Pinot G. kills that and Santa Margherita hands down.

QOTD: The Garden is all set up for lots of Organic veggies and Herbs. The grill is going to get a workout. Also some camping in Ohio wine country mixed with some fishing on lake erie is the next trip.

Solid episode. I absolutely love when you hate the wine, those are my favorites. I thought that bottle looked just like Voss and apparently tasted worse.

QOTD: Enjoying life without work for a few months (summer vacation), going to Italy for a few weeks, possibly making a weekend trip to Sonoma, and going to a friend’s wedding near Lake Tahoe. And hopefully enjoying lots of great wine in our newly landscaped backyard! :)

    I like the new format!

    Hi GV,

Sorry for the delay; I’ve been out of town and am leaving again tomorrow. Funny you should bring up the Voga. One of our friends brought that very (ugly) bottle over the other day and convinced my wife that it was worth drinking. I stayed away but now regret doing so given your score. 48 points for a pinot grigio is actually pretty high by my reckoning. :^)

QUOT: Golf and hoop-it-up and renovating part of my house while praying that my back holds up.

Btw, can longer comments by windbags like me count double?

Hey Gary! Love the new format…. I tried Voga at a wine tasting..the cool bottle lured me in, but I hated the wine too…. QOD – summer, lots of fun things trips, pool, lake, shore, parties, etc, etc.

  258. May 17, 2007

    Boston Ben

QOTD: You know you could watch two WLTV reruns per day, and not have enough days in the summer to get through them all?! Yah remember from the few first episodes, so well-mannered and professional, with wine lectures and what-not. ;)

On the agenda for this summer: keeping nonprofit afloat (and therefore keeping my job afloat), reviewing at least a hundred wines on Cork’d, returning to life on the porch – tragically interrupted every year by cold weather.

    Gary,

Well I am obviously late to this posting party; but great show as usual. My wife is really into summer whites so I guess I gotta get with it. Thanks for the info.

QOTD: The beach, Vegas, and alot of outdoor activities.

    Thanks for WLTV!

Just watched my first episode (238) today. I heard about you on the diggnation show. I love it. I signed up for cork’d and added you as a friend.

My favorite wine for summer is Omni Red (http://corkd.com/wine/view/7853-Omni_Red) a sparkling shiraz. It’s great and bubbly. You’ve gotta get it chilled fully or else you’ll have a red mess in your house. You’ve never opened one before, it’s best to do it outside the first time. :)

Summer in the lab. Higher ups are calling for data. My $0.02: When I think summer RED I think chilled Brouilly. Worth a show?

Hey, Vihno Verde, I had a vihno verde last month and loved it. Do you have any recommendations? I’ve read that you need to get the most recent vintage possible as it is meant to be imbibed while it is still young.

It is such a refreshing, epervescent wine, great for summer weather!

This is my first second comment. Of course I appreciate the “ugli fruit” reference. (That is the proper spelling, by the way, with an “i” and not a “y”.) Citrus isn’t only lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit. I don’t quite remember, but have you used my favorite–”Bergamot”–the citrus flavoring in Earl Grey tea?

    LOL

I just got back from NYC, visited Vintage New York in SoHo. At the tasting bar, I used the classic Gary line about wine having a tattoo and being tougher than we think and able to stay on the counter overnight. Nobody got it. I can’t believe there are wine lovers that don’t watch WineLibraryTv like a crack habit.

Now I’m off to be a part of the Golden Nose wine judging in Hornell this weekend. Maybe I’ll even change the wine world a little!

Great episode today. An instant classic. This so blows away the Brodeaux tapes – for me, there is no comparison.
Congrats to Eric and to you on Cork’d. Things are changing in the wine world…mostly due to you. Gotta go back and see that Vermeil ep.

Love the now format, love the improved quality, dont get the 2cents thing – maybe thats because I’m danish – is it like “a penny for your thoughts”? Or are you actually charging us money now?

Gary, here’s my two cents for today…

You nailed the VOGA PG!! Coolness. A friend of ours gave us a bottle and I have been dreading trying it. Now I KNOW that I’m gonna hate it. An all-time low score! Wow!

How about a whole show on GOOD rose’ wines. Maybe a TAVEL, a Provence pink and a couple of others.

QOTD: Summer! Yessssss! I will playing golf, softball, riding my bike, going on picnics at Blossom Music Center to hear the Cleveland Orchestra and drinking 3-4 bottles of GOOD wine per week.

I’m way behind in episodes having been in Santa Fe for 2 weeks with a dial up modem and not able to view or comment. The rest of the summer is work and more work for me. Absoultely the worst rating I’ve ever seen for you. I will make sure I see the bottle that looks like some bottled water I’ve seen before to miss it. Gary, after going to many restaurants in the last month and looking at the wine lists (many poor and some great) by the glass is what I usually get because my wife can’t drink more than a glass and a 3/4 of a bottle at a restaurant is not always a good idea, I’m always looking for suggestions of wines that go by the glass commonly that are really good. I’ve rarely missed when I see a Ribiera de Duro or something I recognize immediately but I have been surprised by wines I’ve never heard of. So how about an episode or 2 just on those types of wines. By the way, you hit the nail on the head with my wife. she hates your voice and makes me turn you down if she is around so I’m getting her a T-shirt just for the hell of it. Thanks Gary.

Playing catch up on my WLTV watching…Fanfrickin’tastic episode! Why? You gotta love the 48 point review, eh? I love Rieslings, so I will definitely hunt down that one!

Damn. I should of searched for it before I bought it.

    The Voga.

I couldnt place the fruit on the nose but I felt it was sharper than apples/pears. GV was right on the money with pineapple.

Then I tasted it was just so dull compared to the aroma.

I agree that it just sweetened water.

Gary, my house-mate has a wine “collection” which is mostly comprised of things you can find at a CVS or corner bodega. I was rifling through it and came across his bottle of Voga and thought I’d see what you thought of it. I’m pretty pleased to watch you h8ing on it.
