Welcome back!!! It is good to watch the ep again. I was also jones’n.

I would like to try the 1996 Dom P. – Sams Club has it at $109.00 in place of the 1998 that they ran out of. I know that the 1998 scored decent, and the 1996 recieved a 96, but would love to get a small taste before splurging. Any help – I will have to go to the forums for more info.. Thanks in advance!~!

ME…with a little bit of you….we’re screwing up my finances!! :-)

A(nswer)otD: I was crusin’ around the WL.com site earlier this morning and found the Chat Leoville Poyferre 2003 which has got my mouth watering currently; tho the price-tag made me want to cry. *heh*

Consequently, what the heck does the “mis en bouteille en chateau” across the label mean? I know it literally means it was bottled at the chateau, but why is it plastered across the label like that?

Too tough to just pick one wine…

But if I had to, it would be a first growth, something like an 82′ Lafite Rothschild.

    Gary,
Great show today; I’ve really missed my WLTV! Received my Lacryma Christi case today, now I have to create a space to store wine! We built a bar in our dining room a few years ago, but we don’t have enough space since we’re such lushes and have to have plenty of room for all the other hard stuff. :)

Should we keep the wine in a dark spot? We don’t have the resources to build a typical wine cellar with temp controls, etc. (no basement!) Any suggestions or helpful links?

QOTD: I’d like a really good Cotes du Rhone.

    Thanks for all you do!
    K

P.S. You answered my # days whiteboard question in the show :)

Glad you’re back, Gary. Guess I used a phrase an hour ago which, in this post 9/11 world got caught in the system and has not be moderated yet, so I’ll rephrase …

QOTD: Any 100 point wine. (Just to see what people are talking about) Never bought one, never had one. Especially upset that I did not buy some 2001 Rieussec when it was more available. Guess I may just have to bite the —— & spend what it takes for a bottle now.

    QOTD:
I’ve never had a Vintage Port and I’d love to try some. I’m passionate about old-vintage Tokaji wines. Who knows whether the age affects the Vintage Ports so pleasantly as well.

Gary btw, what warrants the trip to Los Angeles? Unfortunately for the LA Vayniacs it’s not a tasting but maybe someday. FYI-currently the weather stinks. It’s supposed to be a little better by Friday but still not great.

Sauternes is probably my favorite wine to drink by itself. However, I’ve never had a Sauternes as old as a 1990 vintage before. After seeing the WLTV episode for this particular Sauternes, and hearing GV’s great tasting notes, I really wanted to go out and buy a couple bottles (at least!) but found justifying the $33 (plus s/h) on a half bottle to my wife a bit of a daunting task.

Nothing outrageous, but something I’ve been itching to try for a while.

Franz Hirtzberger Rotes Tor Gruner Veltiner Smagard 2005 looks as interesting to drink as it is to pronounce. Remember that our largest wine producing state has an Austrian governor.

We all missed you G. Great to see ya again with all the Rioja greatness.

    Welcome back Gary,

I hope you enjoyed your time away. Over the weekend I spent time enjoying my graduation and the festivities surrounding it. In particular, I enjoyed a wonderful family meal yesterday of chicken and beef kabobs marinated in an Argentinian Chimichurri sauce. Keeping with the Argentinian barbeque theme, I selected some bottles of 2005 Kaiken Malbec (90% Malbec 10%Cabernet Sauvignon), an Argentine wine made by the Montes family of Chile.

This wine paired wonderfuly with the meal, in particular because of the cedar box and tobacco flavors in the wine that complemented the smokiness of the grilled meat – and at 9.99, it was a terrific bargain.

So, if you can find one of these, I’d recomend the 2005 Kaiken Malbec for tasting on WLTV as a BBQ wine under 10 bones……

    Great to have you back,

    Garret

    Gary,
Nice to see you back. Great episode, I recently had a wine from LaMancha and it was pretty good, I will have to seek out something from Rioja on my next trip to the store.
QOTD Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars FAY Cabernet Sauvignon 2002. It is about 100 bones here locally and I did not see it at Wine Library, the other Stag’s Leap wine I have tried was awsome.

I just spent a week camping out in the wilds with my family, but didn’t really feel like I was home until the WLTV episode…ahhhh. And Rioja, too, nice!

QOD – For some reason, I’ve always felt my wine education is incomplete until I taste d’Yquem. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=32298 I keep hoping to find it at a tasting, but the years keep rolling by and I’m starting to think I might have to shell out the dough for a bottle of my very own.
