My first introduction to Albarino was with the 2005 Vionta, which I picked up because I kind of have a thing for lesser known varietals, and enjoyed it more than I had enjoyed a white in a while. Possibly more importantly, the night I opened it, I was kind of distracted and forgot that whites are “supposed to be chilled.” That was a revelation in itself.

Never heard of Albarino, but will definitely be buying some of the Nora and the Havens. It’s always good to try some new wines. The pickles t-shirt looks cool to bad others beat me to it. No question of the day today? I think you’re tasting too much vino.

Thanks for the intro to abarino. I will have to try to find some stone apple razor babies for myself.

Since there is no question of the day, I will ask one. Is mouvedre (montastrell) a noble grape capable of greatness outside of Chateau Beaucastle or is it just a fun grape from Spain? I have really enjoyed the Spanish efforts (except the m3) at the lower price points but wonder if there are any really great ones.
