Relatively new to the show and this is my first post – just to say you shouldn’t change it! It’s much more real when you are surprised by the wine and give a real take on what you think. Great show though.

QOTD – don’t change a thing … I think it is much more interesting for you to discover ones with us rather than tell us what wines you already like.

qotd – keep on keepin’ on. It’s a lot of fun to watch you go through the process.

BTW, I agree with what you said about the Marquis Phillips. Way overdone. Keep it up and thanks. You are now a part of my daily routine.

    Hahahaha…

QOD: Don’t. I think the episodes might become dull if you’ve tasted everything already. I love that you do the show on the fly and I think that’s how we get all these crazy, awesome tastings. With that said, maybe you should feature pre-tasted wines like you feature viewer questions. It’d be an interesting segment of the show, just don’t do the whole show that way. You should just have a suggestion or two from what you’ve tasted recently at the end of the show. Don’t re-taste them, just a comment /w text.

GV, Another great episode. I’d like you to continue the show the way it is and maybe every 10 episodes toss in one where you recommend the wines and have tasted them first. BTW, the Sarah’s Blend sounds a bit like the Layer Cake…if I were a Brit I’d call it Plonk!

    Later…

Hope your tasting some exciting Greek wines on vacation. Good “old world” stuff there. Keep it new for you, too, Gary, on the show.

QOTD: Gary, you’ve got me completely whipped. I actually want whatever you want.

My personal preference is for you to continue to suprise yourself. And in turn we the viewers are able to vicariously discover unexplored or seemingly new flavor profiles, with the element of spontaneity. Otherwise, it would seem that your offerings would more directly mirror what your warehouse inventory dictates.

    Gary,
The format overall is good and I wouldn’t change a thing – but you know what! You could add a little segment for the crowd that’s asking for it &
I think it could be good. Some ideas:
1: Add a recomended wine of the day – for whatever reason – it’s good, it’s different, it’s value, it’s hot in the market, you tasted it and loved it, etc. You could even taste and comment on it.
2: You could just list some recommendations when you have them – even a list of several or more at times – of your recommendations, wines you really like.
3: You could throw out some wines that you think people should taste and ask for evaluations &/or ratings and get some dialogue going (wines that are easily available) and then taste them on air with a discussion of why they are rated the way they are and how you think they fit in the market! People could vote on them ahead of time like voting for videos with some tabulation.
Maybe even a taste off of several wines!
    Well you get the idea!

Wines you haven’t tasted at all is better…I like knowing that you are unscripted and reacting immediately, instead of knowing ahead of time various things you like about wines you’d select based on your liking them. I think that’s over 50% of the enjoyment of watching your reactions instead of just reading a list somewhere on your picks.

QOTD: Love the show the way it is and I would say keep it that way, but I wouldn’t see a problem with throwing in a show like that maybe once a week. I think that would be a good way of meeting everybodies requests.

Keep the show as is… I like to see your expressions knowing you are being honest and caught as off-guard as we are Gary V-dawg.

QOTD: I enjoy the show the way it is because there is something really honest in its spontanaeity (sp?). Also, I tend to be a fiercely independently-minded wine buyer and I only seek out wines you do on the show if it sounds like something I would be into based on the tasting notes, the latest example being CDP, which I really enjoyed by the way.

    Madrone

Keep the show the way it is. If you need another show that recommends wine that you already know, then produce a second show or help someone else do it. Also, the great secret in the wine industry is the billion or so wines scored by the big shots at 85-89. You should do a show on WS or RP 89s. Every retail customer that sees a score or shelf talker at 90: they buy (and the producers change prices that year or the next). If they see an 89 they (generally) walk past it. But since we know that scores are more or less BS that means that there are some awesome buys scored in the high 80s. Lets pop the score bubble by celebrating super high quality wines in that 89 range!

QOTD–WLTV has become what it is based on the current format. Ditching that would be foolish. That said, one episode in 10 (every other Friday?) devoted to some of your current favorites would be a nice tweak.

Great show as always, quick and to the point. Thanks

QOTD: I agree with most of all the comments, keep it the way it is, but every now and then throw in some wines that you like.

    Gary,
Nice QPR on some of those wines today, great to see.

QOTD: I am one who truly loves the show, but would enjoy seeing you do wines you’ve tasted recently. Not every episode, but maybe 2-3 times per month. I have gotten lots of emails from you saying you’re not in this to sell wine, and I honestly believe you, but don’t let the fear of coming off as a “wine seller” keep you from actually recommending some wines you enjoy from the store. We know you are true to your audience!

QOTD: Change a thing and I’ll crush. Seriously, I’ll fly to the Dirty Jerz and start crushing. This website is about learning, changing, fun, spontaneity, friends, and enjoying wines the way they are supposed to be enjoyed. As MANY have said, if I want boring “this is what we like” garbage I’ll watch WS wine review videos (although I like the spots they’re doing on biodynamics). We get to join and participate the best when you’re enjoying yourself and when you are partner with us in trying something new. I know people may see you as a teacher of sorts and we all learn a *&)! load by watching this vinblog. BUT, I think most of us don’t want it to feel like a classroom. “Here’s what I drank. It was good…It was crap. The end.” C’mon, where’s the fun and excitement in that. Sure, if you tried something and feel that people must know to buy or not buy or try it that’s one thing. But yo, we love ya but don’t need to know what you’re doing 24/7. Save your family time to enjoy wine unfettered by concern with how you’ll present it on the show, etc. Big ups! Cuz we’re changing the wine world.

QOTD: keep it the way it is. I like your advice and the fun you have on the show. But if I were looking for a shopping list to be spoonfed I’d clip out that sheet that Wine Spectator gives you. We don’t need that crap. Just a fun, laid back time with some good (and sometimes not so good) wines. Thanks bro.

keep it the way it is, but every now and then you could throw on a wine that you drank at home and thought was pretty good.
