QOTD: I’m a dirty bomb… (as I type this I can just imagine WLTV being linked to all sorts of government watch lists).

QOTD: Dirty with a few firecrackers in my pocket, once in a while I’ll open a decent Cali Cab, but cannot hang with Aussie Shiraz. I don’t trust carrying an M-80 in my pocket.

Marc I worked the Des Moines winefest – pretty good one this year. Last year was freakin’ cold!!

    QOTD: dirty bomb.

Went to my first big wine tasting; in Des Moines we just had Winefest weekend. 800 different wines to try. I was overwhelmed. And holy Palate Fatigue! I’ve never experienced anything like that. By the end everything just tasted the same, and it wasn’t due to alcohol. But man, big-ass tastings are great. Too bad we only have 3 a year here.

I’m a dirty bomber, but my favorite stuff right now are the down and dirty wines of south France – Corbieres, etc. Still some really good values out there.

I guess I’m a dirty bomb, meaning, I can really, seriously, fully enjoy both a new world fruit bomb and an old world wine for what they are…and love them both.

Trouble is, it seems like when Gary scores he feels the need to deduct points from a huge fruit bomb because it might be over the top for someone who doesn’t like fruit bombs. Why not just let a fruit bomb be what it was designed to be and score based on that?

I guess what I’m saying is that sometimes I’m left with the impression that scores of new world bombs lose points because they are not ‘old world’ enough. I never see an old world wine criticized for not being ‘new world’ enough.

    I hope that makes sense.

QOTD: Kaboom! I tend to like the big fruit bombs, especially if they’re backed up with a bit of licorice and leather/tobacco. However, there are occasions when I want just a hint of the stinky barnyard, or perhaps (even better) the dirty socks of a great pinot noir.

    GV,
Awesome episode. I especially like the disclaimer captioning. Mott or whoever did that should do it more often. Reminds me of a Monty Python episode!
QOTD: Definite dirty bomber: I appreciate the craftsmanship of an old world wine, but I do like the taste of the new world fruit bombs, when done properly and not too over the top.

Great episode! QOTD… I love to get down and dirty, and those are my favorites, but I mostly drink “The Bombs”. QPR and my budget dictate the type of fireworks my palate is allowed to enjoy.

I’m a dirty, dirty girl. I like new world, but offer me my choice between an old world and a new world, and I’ll take the old world every time.
