Dirty Dirty Dirty with just a little bit of bomb on the side.

QOTD: Bomb at the moment. Maybe as my pallet begins to mature I’ll become a dirty bomb, but for now I am clearly a bomb.

We won’t see Gary slushed :( as this is the penultimate episode Gary taped in this marathon. The question is, what happened with episodes from #8 to #10?? Were they thrashed????? Will we ever see them?????????? :(

Good to see someone else challenging the 95 point ratings.

QOTD: Dirty Bomb for sure. Of course, I love the fruit, the red and the dark, and seek those flavors in a tasting. But, what I find is that often producers that express these flavors so well also OVERDUE THE OAK AND THE ALCOHOL. And, for this reason I cannot go all fruit on this QOTD. Also, I really appreciate the earthiness and character of the old world, terroir style wines. In the end, what I am looking for in a wine is balance and complexity…that includes both fruit and earth, with a little spice thrown in.

Gary, you are a serious trooper, way to keep killin’ it.

QOTD: At this point in my life as a wine drinker I suppose I’d have to say BOMB. But I’m not sure I’ve been exposed to the good ole’ dirty enough to really know what I’m missing…Perhaps you could single out some affordable, widely available (as wine library can’t ship to my state), distinctly “old world” style wines that newbies like me could sink our teeth into.

PS: Speaking of shipping…how do we know that we emailed you guys fast enough to be in on getting one of the last wristbands? Should I have gotten a reply by now?

Very, very nice show. Kudos to your incredible effort. And kudos to that t-shirt. QOTD: Sometimes dirty, sometimes bomb. Dirty Bomb. Often times I’m out looking for excitement in a bottle, in other words, an explosive fruit bomb. Other times, I melow down, and enjoy savoring a more meditating classic wine, specially if food is involved.

QOTD: Bomb Bomb Dirty Bomb (which means: 3/4 New World – 1/4 Old World)

Did you mean to taste the 2004 Villacreces instead? The caption said 2004, but you were drinking ‘03. However, it’s the ‘04 that was rated 95 points by Jay Miller. And, as far as I can remember, the ‘03 was the one you’d recommended previously, NOT the ‘02. The 2003 is the wine I saved to enjoy on the day of my recent graduation, and I have a second bottle tucked away for the next one. Good stuff. Thanks, Gary!

QOTD: DIRTY bomb (love the stinky old-world, but don’t mind the occasional explosion of fruit)

Gotta have the fruit, so call me a Bomber, but if it brings some dirty funk with it, all the better. Straight Dirt ain’t my thang, but then again, I’ve not had the budget for the high-end old world stuff.

    Dirty dirty bomb…

I like a little fruit with my tannins.!

QOTD: I want to say i’m somewhere in the middle, i certainly appreciate both styles; how about a “DIRTY Dirty Bomb”!

QOTD- DIRTY BOMB! EPIC descriptors….’CANDYLAND’! ‘The oak monster is riding my little pony through a rainbow of fruit candies’….Cant wait for tommorow!

Really great episode, love the tirade about the overpriced fruit bombs, classic. My style…Think about the dirty mess left over after the bomb has went off, you can still smell the TNT, but your eyes are all gunky with the dust. I guess I’m trying to say I’ll take anything as long as it’s GOOD.

Probably in the middle, but flirting with the full on dirty zone. Props for the endurance dude.

Dirty, dirty, dirty. If the French could put crust-punk in a bottle, bring it on.

So speakin’ of the Villacreces: how about 1995? Still holding up well? Worth grabbing?

Hey Gary you have two strings hanging off your shirt…..oooppps I’m sorry those are your arms. I’m so dirty i need to be spanked!

Dirty. Definitely dirty. I just love interesting wine. There are some great wines being made in California, but when I have to choose what to buy, I lean towards Italy and France. I don’t want to risk cash on a one dimensional wine. Opportunity cost is the bottom line. One New World Pinot Noir that I’m enjoying is the Londer Anderson Valley. I really didn’t care for New World Pinot Noir, but kept trying (and wasting money), until my local wine bar pulled the Londer on. Nice wine. Sea Smoke is beautiful as well, but I could have two or more beautiful Italians for the price of one bottle of Sea Smoke. It’s nice to have both, and there are so many people that love bombs, I’m sure I’ll never want for them. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is wonderful, but I’m a big Sancerre fan. It’s nice to have different tastes.

I like a bomb that needs a little Windex.

Thanks for the ‘03 Dominus, GV! I have two that I’m saving and it’s quite nice to get your take on them now.

Thank you! All eleven episodes were wonderful. You may now take a day off.
I can appreciate a good bomb. My other half prefers them to anything else. But I like to try a bit of everything.

QOTD: I would love to give an answer one way of the other but I am finding that I like bombs and I like dirty. It is easier to pick out the bombs so I tend to drink more of them but I do really like the dirty vegetable profiles. :-) So I guess I am also a dirty bomb.

    I’m a VERY dirty (bomb) girl!!!!! :-)
(I just couldn’t resist saying this.)
