    Gary,

Go Sox.Riesling is great, one of the most versatile whites around, goes well with so many foods. All diff. styles some sweeter than others. LOve it ,love the show!

    Gary,

Haven’t posted for a long time — just wanted you to know that the episode was great and you rock. “the plan” is a two word refernce to a known strategy. My plan? Drink Wine!

I was just at a Riesling tasting on Tuesday. Actually it was a Germany/Austria tasting, but we had several Rieslings. I was disappointed because they were all sweet. Trust Gary to bring a dry Riesling!

QOTD: The plan is to become so educated on wine that I can get a full time job in the wine industry. It’s not fair to let Gary have all the fun!

Riesling is the one and only! On Friday I had an Ansgar Clüserrath Trittenheimer Apotheke 2004 Auslese, tasted it blind. It just knocked me out as I was dead sure it was an Alsace Gewürz (me! drinking Riesling almost every day …), but then … . I was ashamed and humbled again (that’s what blind tasting is: a lesson in modesty). Maybe it was so strange because it’s made from ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines? Anyway, it was an eyeopening experience again.
QOTD: becoming enigmatic, are you? Well, THE plan: getting some of these T-shirts over here, then moving, then a long and nice holiday in Italy, then … just nothing. Dolce far niente: reading in my (own) backyard, cooking in my (own) kitchen, fondling bottles in my (own) cellar, sleeping in my (own) bedroom, …

The plan? My plan is to find out how to get one of those awesome Vaniak wristbands… though if I remember correctly you said they were sold out :(

    In that case I’ll go for a t-shirt! :D

Thanks for the Riesling episode! Last week I tried the 2004 Schoffit Tokay Pinot Gris, which was outstanding… had it with hot dogs relish and sauerkraut. yum! :)

Sorry Gary, I bought an oak monster t-shirt. It is freakin’s awesome. I can’t wait to wear it to this class I’m TA’ing and see if anyone catches the reference!

Very, very nice episode, Gary. Very nice way to wrap up the week. QOTD: Dad’s day, early breakfast with my kids here at home (provided by them), then work at 0800, sadly. Will swing by to visit my folks when I finish work around 1800. Then will probably relax and open a bottle of a grrrreat discovery wine that I just found (will comment on corkd, sit around and enjoy in the quietness of my home (kids will be gone).

The plan is for Tony Romo and the Cowboys’ revamped secondary to cut a 14-2 swath through the NFL and defeat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

I usually try not to say anything about anybody’s postings, but I MUST say something about some over-imbibing advice above, which is to “…drink 1 glass of water and take 2 Tylenol PM’s….no hangover!”

I disagree. The water is a great idea. Excellent, in fact. However, taking any form of Tylenol when you’ve had alcohol (any amount of alcohol) is a BAD idea. Yes, the Tylenol PM will make you feel better and get to sleep. But: Tylenol is a known hepatotoxin–in layman’s terminology, this means that Tylenol is toxic to your liver. When combined with alcohol, there have been cases where people did this, and then went into liver failure! Just a warning….if you don’t believe me, just Google the combo or check this out :

    http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/tylenol.html

Other pain relievers, like aspirin and ibuprofen (example Advil), apparently aren’t as hepatoxic, but if you mix them with too much alcohol (ie., you’re drunk), you could experience stomach/intestinal bleeding. See:

    http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=867

So…it’s best to stick to the water……

I’m not a M.D. and I’m not claiming to know much, I just want the best for all of my fellow wine-drinkers on here :-)

Rieslings have a mixed rating in this household. The first time I brought one home, my wife almost spit it on the floor. Too sweet for her. Then I had a 2004 Lake Chalice from NZ. Very nice, the apple & pear action and dry. I didn’t tell my wife it was a riesling, because “all rieslings are too sweet” she says. She liked it. She thought it was a sauvignon blanc or a pinot grigio. “That wasn’t sweet” she said. So I bought another bottle, soon to be opened.

QOTD: help my wife build her business, then enjoy the fruits of the labor.

My plan includes relaxing in a beautiful setting drinking riesling and eating bleu cheese with my handsome husband. Do I have a plan to get to this? No, but it is nice to dream…

QOTD: A challenging “employment” position where my comprehensive technical background will add value and contribute the wine, port, cigar and computer industry

QOTD: Getting ready for a trip to Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria. Doing wine country outside Vienna, got any ideas? Winery’s we should go to? Or specific wine we should be drinking besides the Gruner Veltliner?

QOTD: Drink more good wine with more good friends more often.

I’ve had the Domaine Schoffit Harth 2004 Riesling and exjoyed every drop.

The plan? More wine, more wine knowledge, and sharing the knowledge.

    Robin

QOTD: The plan is to figure out how to keep drinking great wines now that my husband is retiring and won’t be getting deep discounts on wines anymore.
The next plan is to find Muscadet (struck out at Cost Plus) and other white wines I haven’t tried or don’t often drink.

Don’t take it personally about the T-shirt. Though I notice that some people are coming through for you. I’m waiting for a red or blue T-shirt without a carcass on it. Something discrete and tssteful. I’m not holding my breath though.
