Nice choice Crouch. I’d have to agree…I’m from that area, and some of my favorite domestic white wines are from the northern Michigan area. Can’t beat the color up there!!

    TS is already desperate.

QOTD: SEATTLE, it’s time for you to come to Washigton State the second largest
    wine producer after California.

New England, any place in New England would work.

QOTD: Michigan — Southwest MI and northern MI are making some solid wines and that time of year is quite scenic.

Hawaii sounds great. I have some cousins, a brother, niece and nephew who live on Maui and it would be a great time for a family reunion.

I like Ge”vertz” and always have. There are some late harvest vintages out there that are 20 years old and still getting better.

QOTD: Let’s have a Vayniac party in Hawaii. We could set something up in Kauii and wake up that sleepy island. I met a lot of people from Arizona at the San Fran Party. Phoenix or Tucson might be a good choice.

    Ciao

You should come to Washington D.C. It is the Capital and I, your biggest fan, live here.

    Great ep!

QOTD: I agree with Autoproxy; Finger lakes region, NY. They have the best Gewurztraminer and Riesling wines around.

Never had a gerwurztraminer, but I’ll add it to the growing list.

qotd: I’m in NYC so just for the heck of it I’ll throw my vote out for the vayniacs in the pacific north west: Seattle.

QOTD – You need to roll here in San Luis Obispo, CA. Edna Valley, home of Claiborne & Churchill (killer Gewurztraminer), Paso Robles, Santa Rita Hills…its all right here!
Don’t forget Cal Poly if you wanna get your perv on…

QOTD.. You should come to Cleveland, this city needs all the good PR it can get. Thanks for doing a show on one of my favorite white wines. The possible food matches are staggering, I like Gewurztraminer with Creole, Cajun, and even paella, and of course as you said Asian food. I often drink the enty level Gewurtztraminers like Chateau Ste Michelle, for 8 bones its not bad. I must agree, for the thunder, Alsace is the best growing region, but the budget always is a factor.

Gary, great episode, I have been on vacation so I am way behind but Gewurztraminer is one of my favorite white wines.
QOTD- Denver, I will even drive you to Aspen if you want to see the changing colors and the master som( a guest a few months ago the name escapes me) You suggested the bribery.

Seattle! I have recruited 2 serious fans here in just the last month.

Love the Zind Humbrecht gewurtz. Will definitely seek out the Malivoire.

Are there enough good Canadian producers out there to do a show?

  19. June 18, 2007

    Canuckchuk

Gewurtz and spicy Asian food…nice combo. And Gary, come up to Vancouver for some first rate food and wine. I’ll even serve as your official translator.

QOTD: NC!! or as us newly transplanted former New Yorkers call it North Cackalack. The wine world of North Carolina would love to see you G-Man.

    AlisonD

It’s great to see you doing these lighter summer type wines…they are so refreshing!

QOTD: I know you asked where else besides NJ..but my answer is still NJ = )

  22. June 18, 2007

    Joseph M. Kennedy

I need to try some Gewurztraminer. QOTD: Los Angeles, hands down..

I have a firm policy of not trying anything I can’t pronunce, much less spell. But you are making me have second thoughts.

QOTD: You should come somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Lots of fans up here and tons of good wine in this region. Speaking of which, I have had a couple decent Gewurtzraminers from Yakima Valley

  25. June 18, 2007

    Greg O

I love Gewurztraminer and Malivoire wines…and yet I’ve never had that wine…I will need to find it. And 90 points!…right on..good to see a Canadian wine get 90 points that isn’t ice wine. As for where you should go…same as Dave Canada…first choice Toronto, and if that can’t fly then somewhere close like Buffalo.
