Way to educate, Gary! Good to see you give clues to the aroma and flavors of the maligned big “G” varietal.

Minneapolis, MN is a great destination. Lots of great culture, trendy restaurants and bars but please ignore our loser pro sports teams. Can you say, “Trades”?

This wine reminds me of a cute girl with personality and character but too much makeup. Of course I’ve only tasted the cali and wash types, so maybe the Germa/France (thanks for new word and ep Gary) types would be more natural. Dusty, with chips and salsa? i’ll definitely try that. My vote’s for Vegas, Portland or Seattle.

QOTD: Seattle Washington!!! or Portland Oregon!!! Seattle drinks more wine per capita than any US city. (See recent WSJ article). Seattle food, wine in and around Seattle, or Portland Oregon. Make this happen Gary V! Do this!

Ever been to Northumberland? Nice place, friendly locals (just not many of them!).

Great episode, Gewurtz. is one of my favourites, I see more being bought soon.

Hey G…..what other wines pair up well with the spicy food?
I’ve not had Gewurztraminer. Will seek one out for certain.
QOTD: There’s a great festival here in Kansas in September. Walnut Valley Festival…you’d need to figure out what pairs well with hillbilly (bluegrass) music and campfire smoke, but dammit it IS a good time.

Your next roadtrip destination ? No questions. ATLANTA, Baby !!!

We got fine wines and fine sakes! . . . great beers too!!! I got bottles of Heidelberger Mannaberg wines (vinted and bottled by Winzerkeller Wiesloch) that aren’t sold in the US yet. Come on down and give it a try !

Nice episode. Typically I refuse to buy a wine I don’t know how to pronounce, and living in Ohio, it is tough to find anyone that does know the correct pronunciation. Now that I know how to say it, I will give it a try! :)
QOTD: Ohio would be nice, because we really need the help!

    Hey Gary,

Of course the next roadie is to Toronto, sure you’re huge in the US of A, but can you bring the THUNDER to the Great White North.

You know that the VQA is representin’ and BC can hold it’s own.. and Toronto is the fourth biggest Italian population in the world..

    So, again..it’s just my 2-Cents…

    Gary,

You’ve done the east coast….you’ve done the west coast….you’ve done the midwest…..Its time to head to the dirty south!!!! You’re leaving us out!!! Besides, you were supposed to come down for the NOWFE and didn’t. So, this fall it will be time for the New Orleans party. I’d be more than happy to help set it up. Its also fairly centrally located, so we could get vayniacs from Houston, Dallas, Jackson, Mobile, Atlanta, etc……and to top it all off, we have the best food in the country. There’s no doubt that New Orleans should be the next stop on the Vayniac Tour.

one of the best wine and food pairings i’ve ever had was with a gewurtz…..it was gewurtz with chips and salsa. i thought it sounded crazy but my boss swore by it, and now i do too. i’m gonna have to agree with somewhere south. you’ve already been west (san fran), midwest (chicago), and will be going east (ny/nj), so the only place left seems south.

Qotd: Down South… Florida or maybe ATL.

My wife & I have been loving Gewurtz recently as it really seems to hit a home run with spicy food. We met friends out for Indian a few weeks ago at a byob place (always love that) and they were completely blown away with the Alsace Gewurtz we brought. I have had a few underwhelms efforts though which is tough if you shell out $20+. Great show today.

    Gary,
Glad to see you hit the G-spot;) Had a btl of Cht. d’Orschwihr ‘Bollenberg’ Gewurztraminer the other night. Awesome! What intrigued me most is that they actually printed, “vin non chaptalise” non-chapitalized. Crazy. Anyway
QOTD: Show some love to the displaced NY’er living in Gainesville FL. You come down here, bring the thunder, I will get Gator Football tickets, and bring the people.

Gary-Never had a Gewurztraminer before!! Will try soon!!!
Great Ep! Glad to see all of your energy!
