Great episode, Gary V: Pragmatic, self-deprecating, inclusive. Awesome.

QOTD: Frederic Magnien’s white burgundy is a good lightly oaked chard.

Happy you tasted the Fort Ross chardonnay. I love that wine, and was pleased to have my opinions echoed. Not that I need your agreement, of course….

QOTD: I like white port on a hot summer day.

Wait: The last wine costs a $150 a bottle and you are spitting it out?!

    Gary, at that price, SWALLOW!

6 spills in a single episode? Dont think that record is ever being topped. Thank you for the glut of whites today, even if some of them were not up to par. Once again, thanks for bringing the thunder on the humor AND the Brett Boone reference…. 2001 M’s will never die!!!! I have to give a lot of love and respect for doing the marathon in all that heat as well. Im still waiting on you breaking a glass during a taping somehow (banging the head of the bottle into the glass, banging the glass into a bottle of wine, etc). QOTD: Rose. Just a fun wine to sip on a hot afternoon when theres nothing going on in my world.

How can a Chardonnay be a Carmenere?

And: It´s Erich Schönleber, not Emrich

Gary, You Rock and Well done!

QOTD: When it is SCREAMING HOT like today (106 in So. Cal.)I like freezing a bottle of wine on a cooking sheet and make a slushy. (It has a funky name but i dont use it) Very refreshing. Its too hot got to jump in the pool. See Ya.

That was wonderful. I’ve never been so entertained by a marathon.
I’m trying new things…bought my first rose champagne today. The last pink beverage to touch my lips was probably over a decade ago, so this one is for you, GV.
    Cheers!

QOTD: Riesing, perfect summer grape. A nice Trimbach, please. Had Wittman the other nigth, very nice and good value

It’s summer and the whites are taking over. Drinking lots of Sauvignon Blancs. Not a huge fan of the oak monster chardonnay’s – especially the California style – so sticking with the SB’s, Soave’s, Pinot Gris and other dry varieties.

That was a wild one G!
My heart went out for the La Mondotte sacrifice…I love St-emilion wines…How about an episode dedicated to more affordable st-emilions?
QOTD: I have to admit that Sauv Blancs from the Marlborough region of New Zealand have been my favorite whites becauseof their high QPR.

    Cheers,

Great marathon…. I have the Villa Maria as a good little inexpensive drink quite a bit. Will be seeking out the Fort Ross!
Reislings are my fav summer time fling.

Gary, I think that you are right on with the “I love you’s” to those you care about. Listen, life is a funny thing – it’s far shorter than we think. Letting those you love know it is a wonderful wonderful thing.
Wine, family, friends, good food, great memories….. that’s what it is all about.

I really enjoyed the Kanu ‘06 Chenin Blanc that I picked up from Cost Plus. Really happy you tried a South African Chenin Blanc, it sounds like it is shaping up to be a varietal that does really well in that region.

On a side note, why didn’t you line them up best to worst like you used to do? On a marathon event like this, we need a little reminder at the end of how everything compared with one another.

Yo Yo Yo, Garrrrrrrry! Thanks for the reminder on making some time to watch this episode! Miss ya! Glad too catch you gain! Great as usual!

Not too crazy for whites. Trying to get back into them but having a hard time.

Same as you(”Big Love” to the “Family”, baby!)Proud to be a family man!

REDS! REDS! REDS! REDS! Any kind; Summer and all!

cattails bro, they’re cattails. Here’s my smart-alec link:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattails

Favorite summertime wine: bogus question for me! I like good wines year round, I don’t tend toward one varietal or another just because it’s hot outside. Screw that, turn on the air and pour me a peppery zin!

Love the outside marathon by the way. That’s a lot of work to drag your crap outside just to get shouted down by a large diesel! The extra effort keeps it interesting, thanks!

p.s. I think it’s about time Carolyn started typing some of these damn comments. I’m not a secretary! (signed AARON!)
