Just going through the archives GV for Tempranillo & Carmenere. I love searching out these sub $15 wines from Spain, Chile and Argentina. Great stuff.

I finally got on the iPhone bandwagon this past week. I’m only 2+ years late! Just got a 3G-S. Digging it. I decided to wait for the prices to come down a bit. $200 was more palatable for me.

At least the 2005 Tempranillo wasnt a pass with 12 z’s, eh Gary? QOTD: Nothing. I dont need those kind of devices. I need a cell phone to talk to people. Thats it. I dont like straining my eyes looking at videos or text on a tiny screen, anyway.

I’m having the 2005 Montes Alpha Syrah right now. I’m torn between loving it and liking it. WS gives the 2005 another point above the 2004, 92. I’d be interesting in Gary’s take on the 2005.

Good episode, Gary. You got your philosophy across (and without yelling or getting all hyper) plus you threw out a rule that I totally agree with (two-case max). Some of the wines you liked and some you didn’t; they were reasonably priced, plus it’s short too. I think all of that make it a great episode.

I’m not saying that every episode should be like that (I like the wacky concept episodes, the marathon episodes and the straightforward themed episodes too), but I this is a great one for me to send to my friends as an introduction.

Oh yeah, come to Charleston, SC. I can’t guarantee a grand party but I’d have fun.

I’m excited to try the Carmenere. Sounds right up my alley.

QOTD: What would I do for an iPhone? Wait until rev. 2 or rev. 3 to get one. The EDGE network is slow, you can’t tether it and use it as a modem and there are a few other limitations that I hope get worked out first.

I found Carmenere years ago while trying to figure out what wine was. I particularly like to match it with lamb. The best I have had to date was a gift from a friend, 2004 Misiones de Rengo Reserve, unfortunately it can’t be found in the states – unless you want to start importing it. I happened to have picked up a few bottles of Casa Silva a few days ago, now I am even more excited about trying them.
