Congrats Tim! Go Twinkies!

I have not had an agliaglioxenfree. "Il" is said like "eel" in Italian btw. Not that I expect everyone to pronounce foreign words correctly, but if I can spread some knowledge then I'm going for it.

QOTD: I had a St. Croix from Winehaven. It was pretty good. Not too acidic and not too inky. It was a little thin but I think they did a great job with a difficult grape.

qotd: that's a ways off now, but I'm thinking maybe a nice dry rose.

Love seeing the spotlight on another unsung varietal. I can think of 1 or 2 others I'd like to see you do that we haven't seen yet. But I don't think you want me to mention those anymore...

Back in 2006, I told a trip to a vineyard my family owns in Italy. The type of grape we grow is Aglianico. It is a Red-wine grapevine cultivated in Basilicata and Campania regions of Italy. In the latter province it has the alias names Agliatica, Ellenico, Ellanico, Gnanico and Uva Nera. Of extremely ancient origin, it is responsible for some of the better sturdy red wines of southern Italy - (eg: “Aglianico del Vulture”). Appears to have been used to produce Falurnum, a well-documented favorite wine of the Romans. The name “Aglianico” is reported to be late 15th century corruption of the italian word “ellenico”, meaning “hellenic”, presumably acknowledging the original home of this variety. The grape is also used to make good bronze-colored rosé-style wine. ...
