    Cool Super Tuscans!
    Thanks for the treat.
QOTD: I like the intro idea….with the theme song a close second

    good episode.

I’d say theme song, but of course I’ve just spent the last 5 days with my composer team trying to narrow down one, so that’d be a bit of a kick if someone ran in and won the contest over it, but I suppose I could live with it.

Other than that I’m not sure I have any brilliant ideas. The intro sounds fun, but I think 30 seconds is too long.

SHHHHHHH! I really wish everyone would stop talking about Tuscan wines…. it just drives the price up.!

How about going back to 30 sec video introductions by the Vaniacs?
Its Monday and here is my 2 cents. :-)

    Great Episode…….

I love the Tuscan wines, I was at Altesino in 04.Maybe it was my trip behind the barn that put some extra flavor in that wine .

QOTD: An original composed theme song would be an interesting contest for WLTV, although it would be very easy to come up with songs that are too serious for the show or much much too corny.

Also, the only two wines I currently have in my closet cellar happen to be Super Tuscans – so naturally the episode was a good one for me.

QOTD: Changing the wine world? How about a drinking contest? Well maybe not.

I’ve been wondering for a long time how close you would get to some of the other raters if you didn’t know the rating they gave. Maybe have someone setup the wines for you with what rating other raters gave on a card. I don’t know how this could be turned into a contest… but it is the start of an idea.

Bringing the thunder fersure……… that prologue is EXACTLY why I keep coming back. I’m not sure I’ll ever gain enough knowledge to speak intelligently on the subject but you certainly give one hope (and without that what else is there?) Extremely, extremely indeed.

That cheese is right up my alley, you said anchovy? Gotta get some now.

Dirtbombs, 5 Jet offensive lineman doing a double session in this weather during training camp and then wrestling in mud and not taking a shower, slimey creature you are trying to capture but you have gloves on, balloon of flavor (you talking ’bout angioplasty, Willis?)

‘fess up did you steal those from Parker?

I hate to think that remaining 1.6% is typing the same URL as I.

What’s with the asymetrical sleeve roll up look?

Gary, I like you enough to change my license plate and be forever labeled but feel you up? A tad too much to ask, you’ll have to settle for a friend me up.

Wow, who knew there were so many dogs in those pictures?

The pets are really cute too.

Go, Gary! I like the idea of just picking 3 random winners out of whomever posts a comment on a designated prize day. You could limit it to people who write, say, at least 5 sentences (so you don’t get people who just say, “Pick Me! :-)

Anyway, you could avoid having to pay for the prizes each day by getting advertisers to “donate” products, say, iPhones or whatever, in exchange for ad space on WLTV. You could avoid p—ing off your old viewers by limiting this ad /prize giveaway to one day per week. Make sure that you make it worth our while. No crap prizes! But you could give away a WLTV t-shirt with every sponsor prize that is given out–let the winner pick which one they want. You could keep people viewing every day by keeping the 1 day a week a secret. This week it might be on Monday, next week on Friday. The truth won’t be revealed until the next WLTV day.

Can I be your manager? I’ll work for wine…… :-)

Kim G brings up an interesting point about drinking wines too young. There are some people who can really get a sense of where the wine will be in 10-20 years. I am not one of them, that’s for sure. Then you can bring up food, which complicates–in a good way–the question of when to drink a wine.

QOTD: Who can send the most divine wines to Canuckchuk in the next month–a great contest. I’m slightly ahead at the moment, but there still is time, fellow Vaniyacs, to win this contest!

Hi Gary, great show as usual!

What was the name of that cheese? Provolone mandolini? I can’t find much on google about it. I want some with that Altesino. I hope I can find both in SF!

Here’s an off-topic question – what are your favorite Rhone or Chateauneuf-du-Pape wineries? We are staying in Seguret for a few days during our honeymoon in October and we’ll be doing lots of wine tasting. I’d love some recommendations if you have favorites in the area!

Thanks for doing what you do!!

GV- thanks for another passionate episode! I was at Fonterutoli last year and loved all they poured (although for 5 bones I dont think I recieved the Siepi).

Ahh, Tuscany. How I want to go there. :(

QOTD: I like the theme song idea. If only I could compose…

  19. July 9, 2007

    KimG

I simply don’t understand how you can drink wines that are so big and really invite to putting into the cellar so young. The Siepi will be soooo much better in 10 years. I just had an ordinary 2002 Fonterutolli a couple of weeks ago and it was far too young. I had an ordinary 2001 besides it, and it was delicious, but a super wine from a super winery: give it time, although you dont´’t have it ;-)

Or perhaps it is just your American palate :-)

Great episode Gary – glad to hear about the Altesino – I do have a bottle but was expecting to be “disappointed” by another “90″ rated wine under $15 – now I can’t wait to try it.

    QOTD: Lottery – totally random.

Well, I saw the episode click onto the site at around 5:30 and then as I went to play the silly thing – down it went. I almost was on my way to first today! Drats, another time. Super glad things are up and running… maybe all your new fans are clogging the site?? :)

Thanks for the episode, Italian wine was the first red wine that I fell in love with. Had a great Sangiovese last week on Vacation, but I didn’t write down what it was. LOVED the look when you said “sniffy-sniff” the first time (even though I’m not crazy about the phrase.) QOTD: Theme song?
