    QOTD:

Either a theme song contest or a t-shirt design contest would be fun. It does leave out many who don’t have the time or talent to make a go of it, then again if it’s from the heart, substance trumps style every day. For the foodies you could do a “recommended cheese & wine pairing” contest…

Thanks for the review of Altesino

Engadget does cake contests. so how about a wine library cake contest?

    Great show, Gary.

I watched as much as I could yesterday, but I had some trouble with the technology. The video froze at one point, and the link to leave comments didn’t appear. Everything worked fine today, though.

Since you were so enthusiastic about the 2004 Rosso di Altesino, I decided to have dinner with a bottle of the 2001 that I had in my cellar. It was just ok. It came off as light and simple. I have one more bottle, and I think it would be interesting to try it side by side with the 2004.

I’ll have to see if I can find the 2004 Altesino around here (Chicago). I would love to buy from you, but I’m hesitant to ship until the weather cools off in the Fall. Actually, it would be helpful to hear your thoughts about shipping during hot and cold seasons.

Gary- I bought the ‘04 Altesino three weeks ago from the WL. It was like a dream! Also, nice link to the LP video…great stuff.

QOTD- We send pickles and you pick the favorite. This requires no talent which is right up my alley.

very nice show. About the cheese, it’s not a “bell” shape, it’s a “tit” haha.. Il Pareto has a beautiful color, compared to the first two. The Siepi has a nice color too, and a delicious flavor profile, taken from your description, with a nice balance of acidity. Thanks! QOTD: Opening gig for the show. I’d be in.

QOTD: How about a WLTV jingle contest?

Q.o.D. – I disagree with Trish da’ dish….please don’t go after donated prizes and don’t offer advertisment space…not that I think you will…..I do like the Idea of random comment contests/drawings to encourage more feedback! As far as a longer term contest…maybe you could have a video contest for people enjoying wine in unsuspecting locations or from extremly scenic locations….$.02…

Psst… hey Gary, do you really want to get away from the wine rules? Consider how we are taught that opening a sparkling wine is serious business. Ya know, first we twist the protective metal seven times before we twist the cork off into our hands with a gentle kiss sound. It would be way cool to film a sparkling wine opening contest where the contestants do several things like 1. shoot the cork for distance 2. shoot for accuracy at a bulls eye 3. do a touchdown celebration dance for judges while pouring 3. evaluation of the wines.
It would be cool to see different sparklers like Champagne, Cava, Prosecco etc.. used by the contestants.

Hey this is either a feeble brain fart or a kernel of an idea that can also feed others.

Awesome show Gary. Love Tuscan’s. Can’t wait to try the Altesino. QOTD: I think the contest should be to design the next WLTV T-shirt.

Great job!! Always love the Sangiovese!!!

Poor Chad he should come to our wine store.I would have shown him a nice wine for under $20….our motto is no pretension at all EVER!!!! We don’t even spit at our tastings!! Its a small boutique that has a wonderful selection, from $9 to $80. Such a shame that those bad experiences are still going on….but thanks to you GV maybe little less these days!!!

QOTD: I think a short intro might be nice, with a theme song!!!

    You Rock!!

Sangiovese is our house red and I wouild love to try some new producers. Any ideas when you will be able to ship to MN? Since 2006 we can buy two cases online and that would probably be just my first order. January is not that far off for the other two cases! :)

Awesome show Gary. Even more proof that you can get a great bang for your buck. Love it!

QOTD: I like the idea of a theme song or something else to go at the beginning of the episode… something to grab your attention beyond just the URL for the Wine Library TV homepage.

“Feel Me Up” haha LOL, I’m gonna give that a HUGE PAZZZZZZZZZ with 7-Z’s, Only you could get away with that Gary.

Don’t know if you saw the post, went to Berns Sunday night. Bern’s selling 30 year old wines by the glass:

    Had the:
1978 Beaulieu Vineyard Rutherford Cab $11.50\Glass
1978 Mondavi Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet $20.50\Glass

    PHENOMINAL!

ooooh, and I love vibemore’s idea too…. I’d get into the pairing with food bit! I might even make the trip to NJ to cook it up for ya!! :)

Course, I might just ASK YOU TO COME TO VA for the 40 millionth time!

    Bernie Bearnaise

Super show on the Super Tuscans and great value find. My favorite cheese with wine is Manchego from Spain. Reggiano Parmesan would be next….

QOD Your viewers could describe a wine of their choosing with the most creative description in the tasting notes emulating you in their own way…

A friend of mine just found a new Cabernet Sauvigno that he thought equalled Caymus called Sojourn which produced only 300 cases but will increase their volume in the future. Sojourn Cellars also won two first places with their Pinot Noir. I can’t wait to taste it. Please check it out when you are in Napa.

Ha! I just watched the uncut video…. that was a rock’en good time. Kudos to the guys who did it! FUNNY… very funny!

I truly am taking the wristband photo by this weeks end… I promise!

PS- Went to check it out cause I was pretty sure I had just bought some of that BOSCO funkadelic stuff…. yep, sure enough. Only now I’m a bit afraid of it! One funky football guy was plenty for me BUT 4 – I just don’t know.

QOTD; I totally like where Trish da’Dish and Tommy BoBo of WI are headed with their ideas. BUT a theme song… come on Gary don’t make it toooo corny or take away from what we all come here for – THE WINE (ok, well maybe a bit of you too)!

QOTD: a theme song contest!!! that would be really cool
    and intresting!!

  25. July 10, 2007

    Tom L

Nix on the theme song. We don’t need anymore crap taking away from the wine review content of the videos. The fact is we are all here to learn more about wine and hopefully get some help from Gary V, and the rest of the community, to pick some good ones without going broke.

If you want a contest, have the viewers find a wine that is under $20 that Gary V is willing to give a 93 rating or higher.
