    New wristbands? Dude! Awesome.

QOTD: I can’t afford 365 bottles of wine, but I am going to keep spreading around my wine consumption to various types of wine.

Where did you have dinner? My guess is Cru.

Great rant at the end and I am trying for 365 wines over the next year but its tough since my wife doesnt drink every night I cant get through a bottle a day, but the offlines definitely let me do some catch up.

To add to Wildebeest’s comment, Dagueneau is pronounced DAG-eh-no.

    Great episode Gary.

What a classic show. Since I just got my wristband in the mail the other day I guess I owe you a picture. I will try my best to start sampling as much as I can every week.

    Whoa…are you ok?
I am exausted after that rant! I love the passion.

Please can you help me with a major oak issue. The Ridge 2005 Santa Cruz Mountain Estate Chardonnay. 95 WS. It’s like chewing on the trunk of an Oak tree. Would love for you to taste on video and see your Oak Monster reaction and evaluate for us if it is OVER oaked.

Loved the “Bringing The Thunder” banners so had to add one to my home page. WLTV….makes me laugh on a daily basis, but in a good way.
STILL owe a wristband picture. Crappity. Gotta get on that.

Lessee…I tried 4 new ones on Saturday with help from friends. An old favorite Sunday…Nuthin t-day, some days I’ll just feel like Bourbon. I’m still +1 on schedule so count me in.
Whats wrong with reading about wine, isn’t watching WLTV the same thing just aquiring knowledge for a point of reference to make educated purchases?

Wow. You completely brought the thunder at the end of this episode. I was totally inspired to go buy 365 different bottles of wine to try this year.

Just bought another two cases, no duplicates. The new cellar holds 100 and have room for another 50 bottles scattered around the house. Don’t forget the bottle of champagne that is always in the fridge! :) Recently had my first Pannotia Vineyards Torrontes 2005 from Argentina and felt it was more than a glass of wine.. it was an experience. That’s what I love about wine. The WOW moment. If my wallet and liver can handle the challenge, then I’m in!

QOTD. Challenge accepted. I still like buying two bottles of most wine I buy to see it evolve.

For the people that feel 365 is too much, don’t forget Gary didn’t say you have to down this home by yourself. Join a wine club, invite 6 people over and each bring a wine, find a tasting a day near you (www.localwineevents.com)… In fact 365 is EASY! And obviously pleasurable.

QOD: How can I buy only one bottle and have friends and family enjoy the same experience? I won’t promise that, but I certainly can and have made an attempt at tasting many kinds. I drink wine like it’s my job, but sadly reality (and the credit card statement) forces me to realize I can’t spend every day with a different wine. I’ll do what I can for the cause, tho’. ;)

Great Episode, you were off the wall. QOTD: I will try. It will be tough but what the hell.

Who spiked Gary’s wines with Red Bull? Gary was probably that hyper kid in school that was not allowed to have any sugar during class. Great show & AWESOME Rant!
QOTD: Like Randle Patrick McMurphy, I’m Committed!

    wildebeest

Holy crap… HOLY CRAP! You’re on m%$&*%^#ing FIRE!

QOTD: Sorry buddy, but no can do. However, I can say that I’ll be trying AT LEAST one new wine every week (especially if you find a way to resume shipping to NV). I wish I could do better than that, but with my budget even one per week is extravagant. It’s worth it though. I had a riesling last night that slapped me right in the face. I had been working non-stop for days and was still behind. I had family issues bringing me down. I was stressed and irritable and impatient. In the middle of all that I sat down to consume a quick meal and a glass of wine before hurrying to the next thing. But that glass of riesling grabbed me by the balls and knocked some sense into me, because each wonderful sip was a reminder of how beautiful life can be.

btw, I want one of those nifty new wristbands! Don’t think I didn’t notice. And dang it Gary, it’s not chili, it’s Chile –> CHEE-leh. Funny, you almost say it right when you say “chilean”. Your bad pronunciation is already famous, but I still feel like somebody ought to tell you (hmmm…maybe I should keep my mouth shut if the guy from Chile doesn’t seem to mind). Hell, even with bad pronunciation, you’re still super-human.

Great show,I’ve tasted those 3 Chilean wines (I am from Chile)and you nail them perfectly. The finish (of the show) also left me with a long, lingering after taste of pure joy.
You were in the zone today, my friend

Absolutely amazing episode, Gary. Great rant, great energy, overall the quintessential WLTV.

QOTD: I’ll make that commitment right now. I’ll get back to you in exactly one year and let you know how it went.

Amen to the 365- I would be there if I didn’t work some nights :)

I am a New Zealand Sauv. Blanc convert. The stuff here near Santa Barbara is boring and unbalanced. I tried the Kim Crawford 2006 this weekend. Cream, papaya, lemon, long finish….zing, zing, zing, a winner! Casablanca Sauv, here I come.

    thabeav

Soooooooo……am I hearing you correctly……..you want us to taste the wine? Huh? Cool idea.

“Sniffy sniff” – yes, it makes Gary sound like a girly girl, but you can’t blame him…..it makes his “mommy parts” tingle every time he says it.

Just kidding. GREAT show. The passion is contagious.

    QOTD: Count me in. 365!!!!!

  20. July 15, 2007

    Jaroni

Holy shit, great rant at the end.

Great show. Once I start trying some of these same wines you are trying, I’ll know what’s going on with your palate. I got a hunch, though, it’s pretty good.

Interesting that you liked the whites but not the red. I agree that Spain is way better than Chile for the Poor Man’s Red.

A little late but… male 31 North Carolina. Peace.

    Winodontist

HOLY CRAP!!! Probably one of the best episodes ever, or at least best rant ever. You, my friend, really brought the thunder today, very impressive. Nice use of the “Press Your Luck” and “Albert Pujols” references.

QOTD: I would not get much else done if I drank that much, how about 1 per week, will that suffice????

  22. July 15, 2007

    Bobinnati

Dang Gary! You’re gonna pop a gasket if you don’t slow down! Your passion is admirable however. I’d love to try the 365 different wines in a year, but I can’t afford that much passion. I will commit that I will not have the same wine twice in the next year as long as it’s wine I open – how’s that? It may only amount to 150 or 180 wines, but they will all be different. I think that is the best I can do. I’m glad the Chilean whites were so good. Too bad the red was a disappointment.

Gary this is exactly why I love this show. Your passion for what you do and not following the herd. I like you get so damn tired of people not tasting for themselves. Most of us are like cattle being led to the slaughter.

Damn it Gary you are the man. You tell. Taste 365 different bottles of wine and I guarantee you that you will have different questions.

Gary you with a little bit of me….we’re changing the wine world!

Best episode. thats it. get out of work at 2am, going straight home to pop the counoise.

    Gary,
Great to hear that there will be improvements to Cork’d, can’t wait. This episode has inspired me to try and drink 365 different wines this year!!
