Gary, with your charisma you could sell ice to an Eskimo, Kryptonite to Superman, sunsets to the blind, and failed policies to the Bush Administration. Great show…way to close out a fantastic week…thank you for your ridiculous level of enthusiasm.

QOTD: 365 different wines in 365 days is no problem…trying to down 365 different bottles of wine is another story. Since joining WLTV forum back in Dec. and becoming a regular viewer of the show; I have started a tasting group, joined a wine appreciation class, and I go to all the public tastings I can. By doing this I know I have tasted over 365 wines already this year and I’m sure I can do another 365 before year end.

Classic! Though I thought today was laid-back friday?

Just my 2 cents on the Cousino Macul, which I had a week or two ago. I thought the 2004 vintage of the Antiguas Reserva was much better than the 2005. I thought the 2004 had a bit more depth and elegance going for it.

QOTD: I would if I could, but I probably can’t responsibly buy and pay for 365 bottles of wine in a year. However, a couple of the shops that I go to have frequent free tastings and I try to take advantage as much as possible. I have discovered some good stuff that way.

QOTD: I am drinking about 2 bottles a week plus tasting more at parties and business functions. Let’s say 150 — 365 is a bit out of my league being the only drinker in the household.

Petrus Merlot? Do you carry that? I want to try some…

    Gary,

I’ve been watching for a few weeks and you got hit the nail on the head tonight for me. I don’t know squat about wine but it only makes sense that you can’t learn how to do something without trying it. Not for nothing, I cook a crapload so I read tons of cookbooks, but I only remember the recipes that I’ve made more than 5 or 10 times.

I’m lovin’ your show and I’ve already told my parents and my aunt that your show is hilarious and RaaaadickUlizzzz(that’s 4 z’s as in “pazzzz on that copper wine-aging gadget”).

    Later,

Wow!!!!! You better be careful or you’ll pop your cork! Poor Melissa, she asks an innocent question and feels the Mighty Blow of the Vaynerpassion! Passionate is too tame a word (and I’m loving it!).

I dropped the oldest off a EWR today, she’s off on a one month study of King Arthur in Liverpool/Wales/Scotland. After having scoured the Internets, combed the upper East Side, rifled through Uncle Giuseppes’, Trader Joes’ and Whole Foods’ chesse displays for the Madarini Provolone you featured the other day to no avail I had no choice but to go 10 mins further west and picked some up at WL. Of course, I also had to grab some Pecorino Pepato and Lancashire Trotter (Lancashire is on her agenda and we couldn’t resist) along with some water crackers for the ride back to the airport – great stuff! Thanks for turning me on to it, sorry didn’t have time to stop and say hello as I was pushing it with the flight time. She thought the store was awesone and had no idea how big it was…. she also got a kick out of the billboard on 78.

So as promised Mrs. Bossman thought the Mandarini was awesome now I just have to ensure she never hears the comparison to anchoives….ha ha. She was also listening as I watch the show and believes you had “one or six too many coffees today”.

QOTD- I can’t promise 365 in a year as I’m the only wine drinker in the house and a bottle a day is neither condusive to continued gainful employment nor of pretending to be a constructive member of society as tempting as it might be. I will however pledge to open 365 different bottles in a row however long it takes me. I have bought not a dupe in the last fifty bottles I’ve purchased from WL and you can check. I guess I’ve been Vaynercized (and it doesn’t hurt in the least).

Forget about Redbull. We need you to bottle that rant so we can all take a “sippy – sip”!! Loved your message. My girlfriend and I love trying different wines. I’ve really stopped drinking beer when we’re together because I don’t want to “miss out” on a different wine she may be tasting!!

WOW, that was like watching Hulk Hogan going into a tirade about how he was going to demolish Ric Flair!!!! But, I totally agree with you 100%. In the end, tasting wines and coming up with your own experiences is the ultimate teacher.

Great show. You seemed a lil pumped by the new/redone couch. I think 365 would be a challenge to anyone… I think what is more realistic is like 100 different wines, or may be 150. As you would need to take a break once in a while or AA would be the ending place. Plus there are wines that you would love and would want to repeat… Plus if you ever figure out how to ship to MA, lets revisit the subject.

Great show , GV !! I taste 5 or 6 every Saturday at my local wine shop. Did I say I have an INDUSTRIAL corkscrew ? Watch MEGA-MACHINES @ WLTV. Seriously, How about a show on getting the cork out ?

OH MY GOODNESS! Someone brought the thunder today. What a monumental show. First you bring the couch back, then you not only get on the soapbox but you burn the house down. Nice one.

Great seeing you today. Brandon is the man. Have a great weekend!

QOTD: I kind of want try grapes/regions more than once before I make my mind up on them. But I promise not to drink the same exact wine twice this year.

    Lauren

As always, I’m inspired by your passion. I’m up for the challenge:)

Hi Gary I am a lurker! Also a truckdriver,it would be way not legal to do 365 bottles a year. How about doing just weekends? Love the shows keep the thunder coming. I am learning alot.

Gary – Great passion on the show today…really good to see!

QOTD – I’d love to try 365 wines over the next year…but WineLibrary needs to add more 375ml bottles/varietals to the store. It’s hard for my wife and I to crush a 750ml bottle each and every night of the week. Please show some love for the 375s!!!

    QOTD: Amen Brother Gary, Amen.

Hmmmmmm…..would be cool to find a way to make that into a contest. 365 Wines in 365 days competition.

QOTD: A tough challenge… are there points for trying?

btw another great week, glad it is Friday because at the end of the show I thought you were going to blow a vein.

    David

Great ending – your passion for wine is one of the big reasons it’s so popular.

QOTD: Absolutely – I’m in. Because I don’t drink wine every single day, I’ll have to drink 2-3 different wines some days to hit the 365 target…

  24. July 13, 2007

    Michael

Way cool, hell I think I’ve tried 365 wines since I’ve started watching the show back in May… nice job, my son and I both say hi, Leo says “badge him up”

    Cheers
